Village Canoe Rental

Very nice, friendly, family-​owned business. The business is under new management this year, and they are making every effort to get it right, as far as I can tell. They were very attentive and helpful and gave recommendations that helped our trip be successful.

Will not return. Over charged us and couldn’t explain to us why they charged us $ 10 more than what the website and sign said.
Staff was not friendly.
No life jackets were given to us. My fiancé had his own and after we were an hour into our trip I realized I was never given one or offered one.
No one helped us pull our canoe up when we were finished because they were busy standing around doing nothing (literally) causing us to try and get it up as far as we could on shore and since I was in the back and in the shallowest water, I tried to get out, and my leg caught the canoe, and I fell in the water. Got covered in mud (clothes were caked with mud), my arm and leg is now severely bruised and sore. We never got an apology. Two men watched what we were doing and watched me fall and get hurt and we were never even offered an apology. After my fiancé gathered our stuff, I had to literally strip to my underwear for the drive home.
Huron river is beautiful. We saw a lot of awesome wildlife, fish jumping, turtles, muskrats, cranes, blue heron, eagles. I just suggest skipping this location and going to Heavner.

The trip was fun but the customer service was not great. They took our money and set the canoes out and then went back into their trailer never to be seen again. They didn’t help push the canoe in and we had 4 small children with us. Trip ended up being nice but they really need to work on their customer service.

I was not really hesitant at first because I hadn’t heard of or seen any reviews or feedback on this business.
I was surprised at how friendly and jovial the owner and his workers where to set us up with the right equipment and advice on the best routes to take down river to proud lake.
I would recommend this business to any friends or fellow Unilocalers.
