The Islander Group

On one of the facebook hiking groups, a member recommended a book called Sites of Oahu. Other members jumped on the recommendation and shared sources for procuring the book. Sourcing was challenging since a major website (that shall not be named) did not offer competitive prices and did have any new ones in stock. So enter Islander Group, a local business specializing on all things local and Hawaiian. Advantages: Islander Group is local or on island, pickup is available from the office (not a storefront) (so no shipping and handling costs, just the cost of time and gas to drive there), and Kamaaina discount is available for us residents. I called in my order instead of ordered online to allow for pickup. The lady who answered my call was helpful and friendly even when initially I couldn’t remember the name of a book. I gave her my request for two books, she reserved those two books for me, and I went to pick up and pay later that day — all together a relatively seamless process. So I know about another place on island to find all things local and Hawaii!
