This hidden gem was a highlight of our fall foliage visit to the Hudson Valley. The paths around the little lake were dotted with Adirondack chairs in the perfect spots for beautiful views. Landscaped In the 20’s and kept in all its natural beauty with rocks and water features. Children can run and play all over the gardens. Absolutely fabulous spot. Bring a picnic and spend the day.

This is everything it’s cracked up to be. It’s beautiful, yet simple. Could spend over two hours, truly. I like that you are free to wander in a few different directions, yet you can’t really get lost. The people who run it are a bit silly and the rules do seem a bit strict, but I understand what they are trying to do, and I think it works very well.

Innisfree Garden is a unique, Chinese-inspired, pond-centered landscape offering a variety of ever-changing seasonal views as one traverses its edges. Located at the end of a one-lane, unpaved road, with outhouses for facilities and nothing but entry for sale, Innisfree looks deceptively natural, while actually reflecting many decades of on-going work by skilled gardeners. There are many fine trees and«woodsy» vistas as well as elaborate foliage and flower plantings in the foundation of what was once a home there, and various water features in addition to the pond itself which includes aquatic species, particularly lotus and marsh mallows, which in good years flower in abandon. The walk is not handicap accessible.

Quiet serene place for contemplation and slow discovery of leading and layered spacial landscapes and visual interest. I can guess early morning visits would be special. Great spot to picnic, read, paint, take photos, or write!

This is a beautiful place to visit on a nice day. The rocks, water features, plant and animal life are AOL interesting and refreshing. Plan to be there for about two hours to have time to walk around and see everything. There is a fee per person, so bring cash. The only thing I found off putting was all of the signage(no climbing, etc.).

This place is gorgeous. My husband and I went a few years ago in the middle of summer, and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. We brought a picnic and spent a few hours walking the grounds. The gardens were in full bloom, and the landscaping is stunning. The flowers, shrubs, and rock decorations all flowed from section to section, and it was definitely a well thought out arrangement. I can’t wait to go back this year. It’s definitely a great way to spend a few hours walking around the grounds to see the flowers, plants, and scenery.

Chinese ornamental garden along the lakeshore. Unique woodlands experience in this tranquil sylvan setting. Great place for a picnic followed by a hike. Walking ½ way around the lake anti clockwise highlights the features up to the rock steps that lead down to the shoreline. There are many wooden chairs and benches along the way where one can engage in quiet reflection. Continuing on around the lake is more challenging, navigating the tree roots and moss lined path along the shore and climbing the hills. Retracing your steps from the halfway point is a more rewarding experience. Plan to spend at least an hour sans picnic lunch.

This place is absolutely beautiful! There is a small charge to enter, $ 7 per person and free parking. Great location for engagement or wedding photos! The maintain the grounds beautifully with flowers, lake, bridges, waterfalls, air spring, lotus, and more. It is so beautiful and peaceful. There are some areas that are carefully manicured while others are more natural garden paths. There are plenty of places to sit, either a rock formation or actual seats, to enjoy the view. It is a decent size and can probably be covered in less than 2 hours at a normal walking pace. Beware, saw snakes! Only negative. But also saw lots of turtles and ducks. You can have a picnic here but only in a designated area right at the entrance of the gardens. This is understandable as there was little, if any, debris and litter around the gardens as a result.
