After all the hype I was dissapounted. The ice cream tasted good but the systems are lacking. The ice cream in the case did not match what was labeled on the case so they dud not even know what they had. 4 servers using one register.

This place is not worth ever going to again. I don’t know if they even have ice cream– nothing was in stock. Maybe just call it «McNultys 2 flavors of soft serve nobody wants! Oh and toppings? We out of those too!»

Long line(not because of popularity but because of slowwww service and being understaffed). Cookies ‘n Cream was severely lacking Oreos. Prices were reasonable. Outdoor seating was super nice.

Charming little ice cream joint that has been around for quite a while serving the local area. Used to be better. The staff is still a bunch of nice polite kids, but the quality of the ice cream seems to have gone down a notch or two. Homemade(or at least it used to be) with plenty of flavors to choose from yet out of the three I had in my sundae none really stood out among the mint chip, vanilla peanut butter, and butter pecan. I mean, it was ok but didn’t wow me. Kind of bland. Still, it’s a decent bet on a wam summer day to grab a cone or cup of ice cream and sit on their patio enjoying a cold treat. Some tables inside but can get pretty busy and full as it’s a small place. Also, the parking lot is just as tiny so be prepared to park along the busy street when it’s crowded. Cash only is kind of a drag though. Especially if you’re paying for the group and the tab is close to $ 30.

It is exactly the kind of place you think of when you want to get ice cream on a warm summer night. Charming shop tucked away on a winding country road, homemade ice cream, outdoor seating and sometimes live music. The experience of actually going there isn’t the best — it always feels crowded and chaotic, and the ice cream is fine but not really special. I always feel like I would have been better off getting a pint of good ice cream at the grocery store and making my own sundae. One of the better options in the area, but definitely room for improvement.

Oh how I miss the days when a trip to McNulty’s was something to enjoy! Over the last couple of years though the quality of the product seems to have dropped. The last two trips have been awful though. Last time I wanted to get a quart of ice cream only to be told that they were out of quart containers. So I figured no problem and I asked for two pints to be a quart. The young lady(there were two young ladies at the shop) said they can’t do that. When I asked why she only said they can’t. I don’t think she believed me when I said that two pints equal a quart. I did ask for the free topping that comes with either a quart or a pint purchase and I was told that was only for pints. I didn’t bother saying that how can I buy I quart when you don’t have the containers but instead pointed to the sign behind the counter that said free topping with every pint or quart purchased. I was shocked when she said she would need to check with her manager whose response was a rude«just give it to him». Tonight we decided to stop in and get some dessert as we were on our way home. My wife got a couple of scoops and I wanted a shake so we can just keep driving. Again a young woman scooped out the ice cream and then I was told«sorry we are out of milk». I have to ask how on earth does a «Homemade» Ice cream shop run out of milk? Is milk used to make the ice cream? I decided to forgo the ice cream and just go home. When I asked my wife how hers was she said that it was icy. Almost sounds like it crystallized. The owners of this shop have to realize that there product isn’t all it once was. Not sure what is going on but it almost seems like there is no oversight. Who is doing the ordering and quality control. I know one thing for sure, my business will be taken to other ice cream shops.

I drove here from Stony Brook(approximately 20 minutes) on June 3rd2015, because I heard they have good ice cream and I was craving a great dessert. Once I got there there was a line about 30 mins long that I happily waited on, thinking this is going to be good! Once I got to the counter girl(who looked 16, along with the rest of the 16 year old employees, no adult in sight) I placed my order and went to pay. No where else in sight besides this little post-it of a note did it say cash only. I asked the girl if there was an atm available and the girl said no. I apologized and said sorry I don’t have any cash. She gave me a nasty look and said I already made it, then ugh’ed and threw out my sundae in front of me and said, can I help who’s next?! If you’re going to be a cash only establishment, you should properly sign it that way for customers that are new or you should have an ATM available. This waste of an hour and rude employee will not have me return. $ 50 order that wasn’t served.

I visited what used to be our favorite ice cream spot last night only to realize that McNulty’s has followed the rest of the pack of charging more for less and with poor quality control. I ordered what used to be my favorite medium in a cup cookies and cream only to be disappointed in the paltry portion and to boot to pay more for it. So I rationalized the small portion as I could use less les calories anyway, however it seems that I am paying a lot more this year. The icing on the cake to what was supposed to be my treat was when trying to enjoy what has now become bland tasting cookies and cream, I came across what apparently was some plastic wrapping in my ice cream. So as to not upset the ice cream moment I decided(poor judgement on my end) to not go back inside to bring it to the servers attention. I regretted this when I got home as I apparently had other smaller pieces of plastic wraps still in my mouth that annoyed me the rest of the night… I am sorry to say that this was our last time that we will visit McNulty’s. After many many years of passing this place when we leave our boat to go home, we will now keep going to other places that still believe in giving value and quality at a fair price…

Family-friendly home-made ice cream! Some of the flavors are really creative and others are more plain, all are really great. Love the vibe of the local place. Staff is friendly, you can sample various flavors. Outdoor picnic area is nice in the summer, otherwise you can sit inside, which is a nice option as well. There is a parking lot and overflow parks on the street. Accepts CASH payments ONLY. There is an ATM inside, but it charges a high fee to dispense funds. I love home-made ice cream and love to support local, non-chain businesses! If you do too and are in the area, this place is for you! Stop by!

The BEST family ice cream place on Long Island. ICECREAMISHOMEMADE! Delightful experience and fun place for the past 23 years. It’s definitely worth the wait on the line in the summertime. Friendly help too!

McNulty’s is a cute little ice cream store way up north in Miller Place. I really enjoyed the country vibe of North Country Road. McNulty’s stands out along the non commercial tree lined road. Ice cream is homemade with many flavors, nothing too edgy. Friendly young people offering to let you taste first. Not needed as it was easy to pick a few :). Took home a mixed pint and had a mixed flavor cone to go. All good. Is their bright green pistachio my idea of amazing. well no. was the chocolate dark in color. uhm a bit light. but the flavor was fine. It was clean inside, cheerful and everything tasted exceptionally fresh as this place seems to move its product. So worth stopping in when near there or surrounding towns. Three and a half stars. ========= CASHONLY — No ATM =========

Boycott McNulty’s! After 18 years of my office faithfully buying all cakes from them they had the audacity to not open today when I had to leave work to pick up the boss’ birthday cake! They should’ve been there at 12 but no one showed up til 1:30 then saw my missed calls and called me back to give me the nastiest attitude and tell me that it’s a gloomy Monday and she’s not going to rush from out of town to open the business for an icecream cone sale!(Forget the $ 40 cake that I left work to go pick up) She was rude and offensive and finished it with«our icecream is so good that basically they can do whatever they want.» This was all from the mouth of Gail McNulty! I will never go back there again! Lucy G.

Very good Ice cream! After a long beach day we stopped at McNulty’s to satisfy our growing sweet tooth. McNulty’s is a favoite of a family friend and he recommended it. I was happy afterwards!!! The ice cream was made of real cream & was not too sweet. My only complaint is the no credit/debit thing… Ugghhh Its 2014! We had to drive a few miles down to get to an ATM on Route 347. But I would return to have a homeade cream treat!

The only reason I return to McNulty’s is for its homemade ice cream. I like that they offer some flavors that are unique and seasonal. Unfortunately this place is crowded and understaffed. An adult presence and an extra scooper or two would serve this place well. When my kids were younger, we used to wait on long lines. It was an experience that often included eating our ice cream outside, listening to live music and taking pictures with characters like Sponge Bob or Blue from Blue’s Clues. Now, it’s not worth the aggravation that each visit includes, especially the nightmarish parking lot that floods frequently. This place could still pave its way to legendary ice cream shop status with a few tweaks and a bit more attentiveness from its owners and management. It’s got charm and potential, but it’s currently not living up to the local mom and pop ice cream shop experience that people want.

I decided to give this place a try, because I constantly see it mobbed in the summer. I honestly don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Both the girls behind the counter were nice, but moved very slow. With the constant crowds I was expecting the ice cream to be worth the wait… HARDLY… The ice cream has a terrible texture, sort of icy in some spot and creamy in others. I got the cookies and cream flavor and at first thought she must have given me vanilla by accident, because only one scoop in my sundae had cookies in it, and even that only had like one small piece. The ice cream leaves a very artifical taste, and left an unnatural feeling waxy coating on the roof of my mouth. The hot fudge was completely artificial tasting, and also had a crummy texture. You can get better ice cream at the supermarket. Needless to say I won’t be back again!

My sister and I have been coming here for a long time and tonight we’ve been very disappointed. The service was rushed and rude. It was a Monday night and there was only a family of 5 in front of us so it’s not like the line was out the door and they needed to keep it moving. I was never asked what kind of cone I wanted(though I heard the guy next to her ask another customer«sugar or wafer») I was only mad about this because I should have asked for sugar! Neither if us had enough cookie dough in the ice cream(not like it used to be) and it was pretty soft. If it was hotter out, it would have been in our laps. 3 stars because we love this place and will probably keep coming back

I’ve been going to McNulty’s for the past few months and never had a bad ice cream experience. Not a single one. And my husband and I get a new flavor every time. Having had everything from expensive, quality ice cream to low-brow crap, I think my taste buds can detect quality ingredients and I’ve never thought twice about what was being put into my ice cream here. The flavor list is long, seasonal, and changes regularly. Yes, late in the evening it does seem like half of the freezer is empty but I think that has more to do with the fact that McNulty’s sells homemade ice cream made in small batches and simply cannot keep filling the tubs with pre-packaged, factory products like Baskin Robbins. Another reason why the tubs are empty: The ice cream they sell is gooooooooood. My favorite is lemon cookie crunch(seasonal). The price can’t be beat(a pint of homemade ice cream for $ 4 something). There are downsides. The parking lot is miniscule for the amount of patrons this place pulls in and cars line both sides of North Country Road for a block or two during most summer nights(this is why I’m giving it four stars. The parking is that bad). The lines often reach out the door. The staff are teenagers who aren’t too quick on the up-take. Lastly, there always seems to be a shortage of single bills and, in my experience, they have a hard time breaking a twenty past 8pm. Still, I keep going and going and bringing friends because the ice cream is worth it.

This task of writing this review has been procrastinated longer than my 9th grade Honors Spanish project for 4th quarter, that I still haven’t finished, as of now, 8:07am on 9÷29÷2010. This was due early June 1995. They always say«better late than never»…well, in this case it’s just«never» for me because I don’t plan on doing it. I am however, finally executing the task of writing about my favorite ice cream parlour(let’s get British for a hot second) in the 10 mile radius of Port Jefferson Village. Based on my typical Mathematical calculations, the ice cream flavors at McNultys, which are ALL homemade coupled with the fact that you can get ANY flavor you want malted in a milkshake gives this place an instant 5 Unilocal.HOWEVER, the service at McNulty’s is garbage. It’s usually run by Mrs. McNulty’s kids’ friends, thus being a bunch of high school girls that don’t give a sh*t about anything. This detracts greatly from the experience but their ice cream is just so damn good, I typically don’t converse with them except for the flavors I want. I get in and then I get OUT. Do the same, enjoy their amazing homemade ice cream flavors, particularly(pistachio, crunch vanilla fudge & rocky road) and GETFAT the proper fat American way. This has been a review by Gaurav
