The restaurant was near my hotel and I was really craving Asian food so I went there for dinner. I was seated right away, while being seated the hostess asked if I wanted anything to drink I asked for a Sopara(I know I’m spelling this wrong). I was given one right away. Had two sushi rolls and they both satisfied my craving. I saw a bunch of bad reviews for this place and almost didn’t come. However I had a exceptional experience and will eat there again next time I stay.

Very average… Felt like a low budget night club… Won’t be going back… The tables were sticky and the food was eatable at most…

Typical Hibachi restaurant but overpriced for quality and quantity. Our bill for two dinners and three drinks was over $ 80!!! But unlike most similar type restaurants, no appetizer(like shrimp) and no sherbert or dessert. In addition they add a mandatory 18% gratuity I think to each meal. No notice on menu that I noticed. Its at top of receipt with other line items and they add another line for«additional gratuity» just where you think it would be on credit card slip. So deceptive. In my opinion. One might be fooled into tipping twice unintentionally. Service was adequate as was cooking style at grill. But too quick. Taste or cooking adequate. Hate to say this but our last visit. Don’t see this restaurant as long time. Never too many cars in lot. But thought it would be worth a shot as had seen it often while staying close at the Hampton. It wasn’t.

I got the hibachi combo, very small serving size for the meat. The flavor of the food was not anything worth mentioning either. Other places in millington have better food that serve hibachi.

Passed the place three nights in a row on way to hotel. Parking lot always near empty. Thought I would try it anyway. Service ok, but I didn’t feel welcomed. Ordered early bird special at table, not at grill. Salad was ok, soup is not very good. Portions of food with my meal were very small. Rice was absolutely horrid. How do you screw up rice? Sauces were weak, runny and failed to add much to the already tasteless meal. Other than the waitress, no staff spoke to me or looked my way. Cigarette smoke fills the air from the outside dinning area from staff not customers. Waitress failed to ask if my meal was good but did get a refill for my sweet tea after I asked. Sweet tea is awesome. :). The other Japanese steakhouse behind the iHop is much, much, much better. Meal for one with sweet tea $ 22.88, early bird special. Regular price is frightening. Eeeek! In short, save you money for the other place which was friendly, with large portions, tasty and affordable, plus much gooder sauce :)

Should have read the reviews before committing to this place for dinner! We were sat quickly and the young lady that served us took our order for appetizers(simple, gyoza and edamame) and asked what we would like to drink. Their drinks aren’t listed on the menu so we asked about beers. Obviously this young lady never touches beer… she went to the bar to look and then mispronounced half of them and said«giggle giggle» I don’t really know… We ordered Sapporo… she brought the bottles and left. When she returned to take our order, we ordered Scallop Nigiri(I said, «I’d like a scallop») a «Spicy Tuna Hand Roll» and a Spicy Crunch Roll. My co-worker ordered a california roll, spicy crunch roll and a rainbow roll. How disappointing… The gyoza and edamame were good, fine… easy… hard to mess-up. I didn’t get a spicy tuna hand roll or Scallop Nigiri… I ended up with a spicy tuna maki roll and sauteed scallops… WHAT??? The sushi rolls in general were VERY small, with hardly ANY meat/fish in them, or in the case of the rainbow roll, on top. I couldn’t even tell it was a rainbow roll — I couldn’t see the fish on top! On each serving plate, we maybe got 3 pieces of ginger and a tiny dollop of wasabi… When we asked for more we got about a 1.5 inch cube on one of the trays… THANKYOU! :) I guess they’re not used to people wanting to clear their sinuses by ingestion of wasabi! Everything TASTED good, with fresh fish and nothing«off». It was just overwhelmingly disappointing in service, order quality and robustness of the offerings when prepared… Good thing there was Sapporo!

3 stars for the service; friendly and nice. Food was eh… ok/good, but over priced. A teriyaki beef diner was almost $ 20 for a plate. The shrimp tempura was more like normal batter dip&fried breaking as opposed to a lighter crispier tempura batter. Gave 3 stars for the service.

This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel while staying in town for a baseball tournament. On Friday night at 6:30, there were only two cars in the parking lot. We noticed, but after a long day, both the boys and parents were hungry. The first thing I noticed is the human sardine packaging arrangement at the hibachi tables and the warm temperature of the restaurant. The hibachi tables were fairly small, but somehow the owners wanted to cram 9 people at these tables. Our group filled up three tables(only four hibachi set ups in the place) Once we were seated, we were told there was only one chef, who was currently cooking for two people at the remaining hibachi table. I also saw only one hostess and one waitress. The adults were drinking beer, so with 16 of us it was flowing. We knew we’d have to wait for a bit, but as long as we could have some cocktails, we felt it would be okay. UNTIL, they ran out of Bud Light after serving maybe 9 of them. We were then informed that their Michelob Ultra was not cold yet. The only other domestic beer available was Miller Lite. The group ordered a few of those until one person noticed a table tent on another table that offered a bucket of beer for $ 10. We had been ordering singles for $ 2.25 a piece. Strike one. After about 30 minutes we had our orders taken. We asked the staff to serve the hungry ball players first. After another 20 minutes of waiting, the chef finally arrived at their table. He didn’t even cook the rice on the table for them. He served it to them in little bowls. For some reason, the soup and salad came out after the chef began cooking. I’m not sure it was soup. It reminded me of dirty dishwater with what looked like dead worms at the bottom. Totally tasteless and unappetizing. I’m sure it was supposed to be miso, but it was just… yuck. I tried to add some salt to give it some help, only to find that the salt shaker was sticky and completely empty. Hoping that the boys would impressed with the show, I was quickly disappointed when the chef barely cracked a smile. He didn’t even introduce himself. I think he threw a couple mushrooms at one kid, did the typical onion volcano, a little squirt bottle action, and then he was done. He was not interested in engaging them at all. At about 1.5 hours in, he finally arrived at our table. In all that time, our waitress refilled our drinks once after we asked for refills. Some of the parents finally just got up and left. Another set of parents were informed that their food would be prepared in the kitchen and brought out to them. The sushi was basic and very sloppily rolled. I could tell there was no care given to the preparation. The serving plates were warm which made the texture of the fish unappetizing. I was not offered any chop sticks, nor given a dish for my soy sauce, so we had to go hunt for those on other tables. The rice was chewy and extremely bland, as were the vegetables and protein. I’m not sure what kind of beef he served, but it was definitely not any kind of quality steak. It looked to be more like round steak. Again, the chef would only speak when spoken to. There was no flare or interest in serving us. One of our party asked him if the restaurant was used to having this many people at once and he said, «Oh of course.» I don’t believe that for a second. The food was mediocre at best. Not terrible, but way under seasoned. It was also extremely overpriced at $ 22.95 for chicken & steak.(About 6 pieces of chicken and 6 pieces of steak.) At no time did the manager come out to speak with us. The waitress had absolutely no personality and no interest in making our experience any better. She had no sense of urgency and it was clear she would rather be anywhere else but there. She never even apologized for being out of beer on a Friday night, for our extremely long service time, or anything else. The kicker was a notice at the bottom of the menu that stated that an 18% gratuity would be added to any person sitting at the hibachi table. That was fine with me since I typically tip more, but in this case, it was a rip off. We decided to pay for some of the others’ beer and when the ticket arrived, it also had an 18% gratuity which I cannot comprehend. If you ever stay at the Hampton in Millington, be sure to choose the Mexican restaurant next door.

Went there on the 4th of July. Maybe it was a bad day to go there or maybe they are really that bad. Either way, the restaurant was hot & stuffy as they didn’t have the air conditioning turned on. The sushi was just ok, the plates they were serving it on were hot to the touch(not good for raw fish). The beef I had was very gristly and poorly seasoned. I’d pass on going again.

Food was below average and overpriced. I had a Kyoto coupon that got from the Memphis Entertainment Book and when I went to pay I gave them the coupon. The waitress came back and said that the manager would not honor it because it didn’t have the Millington’s restaurant’s address on the back. I told her then and there we won’t be back! And we haven’t! But… on a funny note when I got my 2014 E. Book in the mail it had the address on it! Haha. Too little too late!

Went here for dinner. We asked for hibachi table and one was available but they sent the 5 us to the bar to wait. We were almost ready to leave when they finally seated us. Food was pretty good and plentiful but it is a little expensive. Only marked three vice four because of the delay in sitting down.

Went to Kyoto last night(6÷20÷2012) for a birthday celebration. This was my second visit and the first visit was a year ago. I wasn’t overly impressed with the food or service on the first visit but the restaurant was new and my kids liked watching the chef prepare the food so I agreed to try it again. There was an ant crawling around on my salad and when I pointed this out, the chef’s remedy was to remove the ant and serve the salad to me. Our waittress walked up about this time and she offered to get me another salad, which I was fine with. The salad was a hibachi chicken salad in which the vegetables were prepared in the kitchen and the chicken was cooked and added at the table. The waittress brought another plate of lettuce and then she and the chef attempted to pick the chicken out of the original salad. Apologies were offered when I told them I would just skip the salad. The ant didn’t bother me, it was the manner in which the chef and waittress handled the situation. I’m pretty sure this was my last visit to Kyoto.

I think they should put up a sign saying that the hibachi grill comes with a 18% gratuity so that’s one thing that make your dinner a very expensive. The food is good and the chef is pretty impressive with the chopping show. I would go back for a date but not for a family dinner.

Saw the hit and miss reviews, so had try try for myself. I read the warnings of the other reviews and had us seated in regular seating instead of the hibachi tables(Which works out, my son is afraid of the fire anyway) Viewing the menu items vs price; I’d say this is a much better lunch restaurant than dinner. I r eally wanted one of the bento boxes(nice variety, fabulous price) but we were too late. My son got Gyoza, the filling wasn’t very favorable, but perfect for children. My husband got the special«Red velvet roll» and loved it, I ordered the combo fried rice& shrimp tempura, was good for the price you pay. They gave us a complimentary sample of the other sushi special being offered that day, which is very nice of them. I think I will return, just for the lunch bento.

Excellent food and service. Hibachi steak was delicious. The draft beer was only $ 1.25. If I’m ever traveling in Millington again, I will definitely eat here again.

Oh joy, so many thoughts… hmmmm Lets begin: This place had us VERY excited, we have eaten Japanese food all over the world, and now we wouldnt have to travel 30 miles to Memphis to have more. God I hope gas prices go down. The staff is a little large, 5 people folding napkins is a little much. Maybe they are planning on huge crowds, that bodes well for us cause maybe they can put out good food… silly us. We counted at least 7 servers, 1 hostess, 2 busboys, and only one cookin guy(Im a little afraid to call him a chef, but well get to that later), but we didnt see who was in the back. They sat us right down… ok, kinda crammed us into a table that was made for people of smaller size… I guess the people where they come from are the size of a normal 9 year old in the states. The table seated 8, and should have seated 5⁄6 tops. The plywood table, yes plywood, availed us just enough space to feel like a sardine. The distance between covers was less than 12 inches, and the distance between the customer side lip of the table and the flat top edge was a little less than 18 inches. If they had a show, flame would have singed something on your face… luckily for our eye brows, they didnt have a show… more like«spectacle». but im jumping ahead due to the giddy feel i have in my soul to complete this… debacle? Our waitress, thankfully she wasnt busy cause there were a few dozen(editors note: ok, maybe only 7) of them just standing around and bout 12 customers in the store, took our drink orders, Krista got pissed over paying 2.25 for a glass of tea, so she ordered water… we all had water, she just ordered hers. My son and I had a lemon with our colored water/tea, and that was good for us cause it gave that stuff some flavor. One of the highlights of the evening. Finally we got to the good stuff, we got to order our meal!!! We all had chicken and steak… apparently what they really meant was chicken and meat beef… but they called it steak… again, Im getting a little too excited about the rest of the story, and Im getting ahead of the review… sorry intrepid reader. The soup came, and if you like frenchs fried onions(the kind they put on green bean casserole) soaked in chicken flavored water, youre in there!!! Add some soy sauce, and youve got yourself a soup with taste. And now it falls apart: Salad… salad…gingery, watery, salad… like half the bowl was filled with some sort of liquid they think is salad dressing… needless to say, Krista was not impressed, nor I for that matter. You know how most of the salad dressing at a japanese joint makes you wanna slurp it out of an up turned bowl? Yeah not so much at Kyoto. But its ok, cause we came for the main course right? okie dokie The«chef», well, ok whats a title anyway? They charge an additional 18% off the top to sit at those tables, apparently plywood is expensive, cause we certainly didnt pay for the show… I mean lack of show, there wasnt one. The cookin guy comes out and immediately starts cookin rice. No sauce set ups, not toss an egg around… nothin. He cooks the rice just long enough to heat it up so its not totally sticking together, a spash of soy and that dude has a master creation of bland, tasteless rice that he sold as fried rice. The veggies he put in the rice were diced and sweated before they even made it to his cart. He didnt even use salt and pepper… sesame seeds? surely you jest. The veggies… I got 7, no really…7 pieces, not of each, total. SEVEN tiny little«I put no effort into cooking some flavor into these veggies» pieces of squash, onion, and shaved carrots… he threw more veggies in the shoot on the side of the flat top than he threw on my plate. The bad thing is, I went there starving Meat!!! Finally, well be saved by the meat. Heres your sign. Every place ive been in forever cut meat in front of you on the grill, not this place. The meat beef that they called steak was cut before they brought it to the table, no biggie right? that depends on if you want to know what part of the toughest part of the cow youre actually eating. Those guys didnt care to let us know that, and Im pretty worried about what I just ate. The cookin dudes knife was so dull it couldnt cut through the chicken breast quarter they gave me… but on the bright side, there was meat for 6 people on that flat top, and that dude used all of 2 tablespoons of soy sauce to season it, not the soy in addition to things like salt, pepper, garlic, ginger… you know, things like that, nope… that was it. Needless to say, the chicken and meat beef finished off a bland, waste of money meal in such a way… makes me proud ill never go back. Im outta room, but no way done
