Today is my first time here and I am impressed. Grabbed cream bun and two other buns that I(sadly) forget their name. They are all very delicious. Will definitely be back !!!

I have always enjoyed checking out all the goodies offered by the various Chinese bakeries in the area. I especially like the offerings from Sheng Kee and Kee Wah. Take heed that the availability of a specific pastry will depend on the day of the week and time of day. So, we came in here and«took no prisoners», leaving with a full bag of treats for each and everyone of us! Each pastry had their own personality; all were very good! My one complaint is the parking situation for the shopping center. There is just so many restaurants and a market such that you will be lucky to find a space to park within 15 mins of arriving here!

They had the best tiramisu cake for me. Not too sweet. Not too bland. Just perfect for my taste! Best option for getting a kind of cake for any occassion. They do have their small section of different kinds and variety of breads to chose from too. Ive tasted this from daly city before from my coworkers and didnt know we have it here in milpitas too! Small bakery for a good taste of cakes and breads.

Good ol’ Sheng Kee, I can always rely on you for good cakes! Sheng Kee is always one of my fall backs when I don’t have time to get a birthday cake elsewhere or don’t know where else to go. I don’t like fancy cakes and I don’t really like sweets but this bakery just gets it. Their fruit cakes are very light and unlike most cakes, you can probably have more than one slice because you don’t get tired of it! Just the right amount of sweetness for me too! Sheng Kee has been one of my favorite bakeries ever since I was little and will always have a special place in my heart. Outside of their selection of cakes, there’s a numerous amount of baked goods which are also very good! Need something quick to-go or are just hungry and need a quick snack? I’m sure you can find something here for you!

Probably one of my favorite bakeries in the Bay Area for a variety of reasons. 1. They made our west coast wedding cake and indicated their icing limitations when we are trying to have the customary non-white design to honor my husband’s family. One word to the wise about their wedding cakes, while they are gorgeous and ready for pickup on time, they are not easy to transport because they do not carry the appropriate cake box sizes. This was my experience and it may have changed so that’s just a word to the wise. 2. They have extremely helpful staff they are never pushy, but can tell you about there seasonal items etc. 3. They carry my one of my favorite desserts — green tea matcha cake that has whipped cream, chocolate, and strawberries. It is a birthday favorite for my husbands family because the flavor is on point and it doesn’t taste as sugary as other baked goods.

2 Stars for the tiramisu cake. I can’t speak for any of the other baked goods. I was disappointed by this cake, especially since we purchased it for my SIL’s birthday dinner. I am leery of cakes that I’ve never tried in the past before, but they didn’t have any cake slices for us to purchase/sample beforehand, and we just took a gamble on it since the exterior of the Tiramisu looked promising. You know that phrase, «Don’t judge a book by it’s cover»? Well that popped in my head once I took a bite lol. The cake was so dry and I could hardly detect any coffee flavoring, which was a shame because I bought it because she loves coffee. LOL. Fail.

Taiwan style bakery in Asian strip mall. Next to Lion Supermarket, a Chinese supermarket. Less modern than 85 Degree Bakery, both are Taiwan style bakery. This one is like Kee Wah bakery, for everyday needs, not for luxury.

This bakery is located in one of the main plazas in Milpitas. It’s very easy to spot, but parking is always difficult. It does depend on the time you come. But it seems to be busy all the time. I came here to buy a birthday cake for one of my friends. My friend loves taro and I was trying to see if they offer any taro cakes here, and they do! It’s like one in a million. There’s literally one in the entire store. I’ve never actually had taro flavored cake(like an actual cake and not the sponge-y ones or anything), so I wasn’t sure how it could turn out. It was around $ 30 with tax. It was a little pricey, but I do understand since it’s made fresh daily and it is an Asian bakery. I don’t know why, but it’s always pricey… But to my surprise, the cake was so delicious! The reason why I Asian cakes the most is that they are not too sweet! Most cakes from American bakeries or stores are way too sweet! But here at Sheng Kee, the cake was absolutely delicious! The filling wasn’t too sweet and the frosting wasn’t either. The taro blended very well into the cake. It had fruits on top like most Asian cakes, and then several taro and sponge-y layers below. It was very soft and sponge-y, without being too sweet! Hooray! I definitely recommend this place for their cakes. I’ve also tried their other pastries and they’re pretty good, too! Some things are pricey while some are not. I will be back!

I went here once. Got a cappucino cake. It was yummy, light and moist. Very mocha tasting. Nice decorations on the cake. The person serving us was very nice. Cake(circle) was only $ 24.99 which was quite cheap. I should get the pastries next time I come here. Must have the egg tarts. :)

Sheng Kee has some really tasty pastries! I have not had all of their offerings but I’ve tasted a few. Most of the ones I’ve tried were really delicious! My favorites are the Coconut Cream and Custard Bun. They are not too sweet, but sweet enough to be delicious! The bread that they use on the Coconut Cream is so soft and airy. In addition to the sweet delights, they also offer some savory pastries such as BBQ Pork buns, Chicken pies, and Curry Beef pastries. Of the meat pies that they offer, I like the Curry Beef Pastry. It has a very good flavor. I’m glad that this location is not too close to home, cause if it was, I might find myself in Sheng Kee everyday! Their prices are very reasonable. I prefer Sheng Kee to Kee Wah because of the softness of their bread. This location open its doors at 8 am. Perfect for early morning people such as myself. This bakery is located in a strip mall next to a Lions Supermarket. This place is small, I would describe it as a hole-in-a-wall. But it is not the size of the bakery that counts, rather it’s the quality and taste of the product. And the product is delicious. The one criticism I have is the parking. It can be very difficult to find parking depending on what time during the day you arrive. If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself at this strip mall during lunch time, be prepared to drive around looking for a parking space. I found myself in that situation today! It took me about 20 minutes to find parking, and I consider myself lucky! But all that aggravation over parking went away once I got home and bit into one of the pastries. It was sinfully good!

4.5÷5: The«blueberry half-moon sponge» thing is really good. Very light inside, like angle food cake, and great flavor. There is a single ribbon of fruit. 4.5÷5: The Portuguese custard tart is excellent: better than just about every other place I’ve tried it. 2⁄5: The mocha horn was meh: the frosting was too thin, and the horn itself wasn’t flaky enough.

So, I always walk by this place and I’ve never gone in until recently. My mom always goes here and buys pastries. I just assumed it’s like any other bakery. Well one day, my mom decided to go and visit me at work after coming to the bakery. She brought me a blueberry pastry and two red bean pastries. Well that blueberry pastry was so yumtastic. I love blueberries so I’ve been coming in once or twice a week just to get some. There might be better blueberry pastries out there but these are the best ones I’ve had so far. So 4 stars for the blueberry pastries: D

Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of these type of bakeries. But the Mango Mousse Cake is delicious! Grabbed this cake for my pops’ birthday today and it’s a definite winner. It has an authentic mango taste and it’s not crazy sweet like American cakes. It’s the perfect dessert for the anti-dessert crowd or the person who thinks everything is too sweet.(We all know someone like that.) Very simple cake, in that it is composed of just mango mousse(almost like a flan, texturally) and a white sponge cake, but it’s one of those instances where less is really more. Nothing fake, heavy, or overdone about this cake. And it’s decorated beautifully with fresh fruit and white chocolate pieces. I’m a fan. As for other items I’ve tried, I’ve had some of the sponge roll slices and the Ham & Mushroom Bun. The sponge rolls slices are okay. They’re soft, not too sweet, and taste mildly of the fruit they’re named for. The Ham & Mushroom Bun is pretty fantastic. I was driving when I first had one and I just couldn’t put the thing down! It has ham, mushroom, peppers, and some kinda mayo concoction on top. Could totally pass for a portable meal. Just beware it is greasy and can get messy. Other than that, can’t wait to try to their other cakes and breads!

Visits: 10+ Rating: 4* The best place to get Portuguese Egg Tarts. One of the best in town. Their Mochi Egg Tarts aren’t to bad either. Their cakes are better than 85c, trust me. Don’t waste your time in that over hyped line.

Short Story: A good place to get Chinese bakery items for a good price. Long Story: I have been coming here for the past 3 years and this place has been consistent in its products, service, and quality. Most of the bakery items are usually in stock. Though the pork buns with green onion tends to run out quickly. Also, the amount you get tends to get smaller over time. I’m guessing they don’t want to raise prices as their cost goes up so they cut back on how much each serving size is. The service is alright… most of the time it is one or two people behind the counter. Currently they are running a promotion where you get a discount after 7:30PM. Verdict: I am going back… probably right at 7:30PM…lol :)

The cake we ordered tasted decent for Chinese cake. It wasn’t dry and cardboard tasting like some other Chinese cakes I’ve had. However, the store should always have someone who has a good command of the English language working at all times. I phoned in my order and it was painful. I needed one modification on the cake I wanted, and the exchange was confusing because of the woman’s heavy accent and her inability to pronounce the letter«r». The conversation had to consist of the words«white» and«write». You can imagine how frustrated I got after awhile. In addition, when my husband picked up the cake, they had spelled the word«welcome» wrong. They spelled it «wecome». Really, people? I hate to say it, but you’re in America now. Plus I’m sure someone there has a smart phone(they are Asian after all). Look it up if you don’t know how to spell a word! My husband made them rewrite it, but the lettering looked awful. The penmanship looked like that of my 6 year old niece. Perhaps they are better at writing Chinese characters, but they need to be competent in lettering(and spelling) American words as well!

Marble pound cake, sesame balls, and portuguese eggs tarts… Yum! Get here before 3 if you want a good selection of items. They tend to sell out of the various popular baked good. Place is well kept and clean and the ladies are usually very nice. Prices are reasonable. A slice of marble pound cake is $ 1.25 and sesame balls are $.75 each. Their mocha rolls are $ 5. Lots to choose from and reasonable prices. Whats there not to love? 4 stars

My go to place whenever there are birthdays in the family for cake. I practically tried every kind, ranging from mousse, Japanese cheesecake, green tea red bean, and their fruit tarts. I’m a fan of all cakes from Sheng Kee! Don’t forget to pre-order your cake to ensure its freshness! The buns, pastries, and breads are always fresh and yummy! Too bad they stopped their nightly specials after 7pm.
