I first noticed this place because of an old Pabst neon sign in the storefront window. It sat there for about six months until I finally walked in and asked about it. The next day I brought it home. It’s a rare 3 color neon of 1970s vintage, I won’t say how much I paid, but let’s just say I got it for a song! I gave him his asking price, and later realized haggling would have probably been appropriate and I could’ve got it for even cheaper. But I was happy with the price and have been told it’s worth much more that what I paid, to a collector. Coins + Gems is mainly a coin and jewelry shop as the name suggests. It is run by an older gentleman who really knows his stuff, and is a wealth of knowledge. On top of the few beer items that piqued my interest(I also picked up a 1957 Miller High Life sign), he also carries old books, toys, musical instruments etc… While used by some locals as a place to sell their Great Aunt’s trinkets for beer money, I put this place firmly in the«hidden gem» category. The shop is small and it might not always have something you want, but check back every now and then. You might be surprised.
