Hot Heads A Cool Salon

One of the worst things about moving out of state was having to find a new hair salon. Janis, Tina and the team are great — conversational, down to earth, and capable across a wide range of styles and techniques. For my wedding, my bridal party all had our hair styled here, and everyone’s hair looked wonderful AND stayed put all night.
I’ve been going to this salon since I was a teenager and still go back to get a trim and catch up when I’m in town at the holidays. Would recommend!

I apologize for my review being a little late but with a new hair color I like to wait a week or two to see if I really like it and see if the color stays… Then I forgot. Oops! My bad! I feel really bad too because Sarah was AWESOME and she did a GREAT job!
I bought a LivingSocial deal because my normal salon is downtown and up a bunch of stairs and I can’t do that right now for health reasons. I have tried a few places now until I can go to my beloved stylist, but no one can or will do what I want, until now! I brought in a few pictures again to show what I was looking for and Sarah said not a problem. I thought «Yeah, heard that before…» But she was SO nice and kept up conversation the whole time and My hair was PERFECT! EXACTLY what I wanted!!! I asked right away what the price would be for next time and was astounded at how reasonable it is even without the deal! I will definitely be back again to see Sarah and I recommend you call you up too if you’re looking for someone! :-)

My family and I are fans. We live close by which helps and we have always gotten better cuts than we had in mind. The prices are super. I don’t see how they get by charging such a great rate. My son likes Sarah the best. She has been cutting his hair since middle school and I like Tina. She always listens and does a better job than my poor directions can explain. The staff know us by our first names.

I’ve been getting my hair cut, colored, and highlighted for several years by Sarah. She does a fabulous job, and I really appreciate how sweet and funny she is. The prices can’t be beat… I’ll be coming here a long time!

I got a Groupon for this place sometime back. Called them so many times to setup an appointment and couldn’t get through. Never returned any of my voice messages either.

Just a decent experience for me here. Walked in for an eyebrow wax. It was cheap, yes… but I wasn’t super happy with the results. When I asked her to «clean it up a little bit,» after the first run seemed to need some fine-​tuning she cut a little chunk of of my brow with small scissors instead of plucking. Seemed odd and the effect was not at all what I wanted. It was very noticeable to me. I don’t usually stray from my normal salon, was just looking for a quick fix in my neighborhood… and I don’t think I would revisit after my one not-​so-​impressive trip. The salon has been in business for a while in this location, I believe, however; so, clearly, they have their clients that are happy here and return. Salons are just so personal to each person. This just wasn’t a place for me!

DO NOT GO HERE! HORRIBLE service! I recently bought a LivingSocial Deal through this salon. The deal had a great price so I thought I’d try it out. I checked the website and a few reviews before I bought it and thought «how bad could it really be?». I walked in 10min early for my appt and was greeted by a very nice front desk/​stylist. She checked me in, asked if I wanted a coffee, and told me my stylist was not there yet because I was early. The salon is old and full of clutter. I sat down in the waiting room and the window sill, end table, and floor were covered in dust and hair. When my stylist got there, she walked up to me and said «you can come back now». I still don’t know the stylists name because she never actually introduced herself. Her station was just as filthy; everything was covered in hair clippings, dust, and clutter. There was apparently still color on the chair when I sat down because I left with dye all over the back of my shirt. I have long dark brown hair and told the stylist I wanted an ombré. I brought multiple pictures to show her exactly what I wanted. She barely said anything and then went to mix the color. Throughout the whole experience she was talking and laughing with the other stylist about their upcoming drinking and partying adventures on their next vacation. It was so immature and unprofessional. Needless to say, I paid for what I got. It’s a cheap salon that offers cheap, horrible services. I Left the salon with my hair soaking wet because I just wanted to get out of there. The stylist had bleached the lower half of my hair and turned it BRIGHT ORANGE! I was mortified walking out of the salon and drove immediately to my normal salon where they did what they could to fix my now, extremely damaged and bright orange hair. Please, please, please pay a little extra money to go to a legitimate salon and STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON!

What a fun place to go! Hot Heads is more than just a «cool salon”– it’s a neighborhood gem. It reminds me of the beauty parlor that Dolly Parton’s character ran in the movie «Steel Magnolias». Get your cape on, grab a cup of coffee and settle in!
We recently commandeered the place on my daughter’s wedding day. Janis, the owner and the talented artist whose works adorn the salon walls, gave me an updo so secure that it not only lasted all day and night, but even survived my family’s traditional wedding dance, Gatoring, which involves writhing on the floor (yes, really).
For «regular stuff» the team there is equally talented. For years Janis has kept my tresses a beautiful red that no one ever realizes isn’t natural. She’s seen me grow from a short bob to below the shoulders. Janis’s daughter Tina does amazing eyebrows and really has a finger on the pulse of what younger clients like.
Seriously, make an appointment. You will NOT be disappointed.
