I have to say, between 06 – 08 I came to CD Max(as it was called prior) quite frequently. They had a huge, awesome selection, and their prices were great. Nowadays, I am pretty bored when I go in there. I think they’ve increased their prices, they give you hardly anything on DVDs/games you bring in… Their selection is incredibly limited(at least the East Side location) when it comes to latest-gen video games. The Brookfield store wasn’t much better… haven’t been to the other two.

I feel like this is the armpit of the MMX family of stores. Brookfield is decent, Southside is the biggest, 76th Good Hope is small but has the best prices. This location has extremely high prices on classic games. There’s a guy that works there that always looks like he’s high or hungover. Ask him anything and he just grunts you an answer. I haven’t sold at this location so I can’t comment on that. The only upside has been finding hard to locate 80’s DVD movies. Someone nearby is bringing them in monthly. Other then that, stick to the other locations.

I have done a good amount of buying and selling here and been pretty happy with service. Today I walked in with a classic playstation 2 game to sell. They offered me 6 bucks. That’s not eat upset me. What upset me is the fact that I purchased the game in the exact same condition about a month or so ago for $ 24.99. I asked the checkout guy ‘chad’ why they would only give me 6 bucks when I just bought it from them for so much? He responded that he just«checks the computer» and then kinda blew me off. I asked for the manager and of course, he wasn’t there. The manager might be in tomorrow at 3. I feel a bit cheated, and I feel like they don’t value customers.

I visit Mega Media Exchange about once every two months to raid the used CD section. This is a problem, because I have NEVER left this place empty-handed. Most used CDs are between $ 2.99−7.99 but you can find the occasional gem for 99 cents — depending on the amount of copies they have on hand. PROS: **I keep returning here because occasionally I will find something off the wall that I wasn’t expecting to find — or that I’ve never been able to find at Exclusive Company or is being overvalued on eBay and the like. Recent finds: Chamberlain(2.99), Kill Creek(.99), Smashing Pumpkins double disc set(3.99). **Over the top selection of used/vintage video games, DVDs. Yes, they have NES and Super NES cartridges(for those of us who cannot get enough 8 or 16-bit fun)! **A growing and fairly priced selection of used Blu-ray movies. **Fair and easy return policy. I purchased an SNES cartridge that turned out to be defective(after much trial and error). They promptly refunded my cash, but not before calling around to find another copy at a different area location! Cool. **Store layout: it’s packed yet still manages to be organized. Wide aisles and well-organized stacks and shelves. Video games are kept behind the counter; staff can help with those items. **Staff: Surprisingly helpful. Some are better than others; I’ve found the weekenders are more helpful than those working weeknights. CONS: **Whether you’re trading in for store credit or cash, it is really hit or miss in terms of what the store will buy or the amount you are offered. It’s better than selling your stuff to Half Price Books, but not as good as selling to Exclusive Company. **Though this is near Farwell and Brady, the upstairs location combined with sketchy parking always throws me off. If I even bother to drive to this location, I park several blocks away in a residential area and walk in. I’d rather bike here. **Staff: Yep, a «con,» too — some are less than helpful, and while I understand they have to walk around the store to make sure some of the sketchy folks aren’t attempting to pocket cases or puke somewhere… at least say«hey, how’s it going, can I help you find something?» **There are always sketchy people hanging out either outside the entrance or directly at the top of the stairs. I’ve received the«stare down» from late-teens, been asked for illegal substances, been propositioned(I wish I was kidding – yuck city here), etc. Ah well… not really a «con» I guess, it sure does make my visits here more interesting! I’ll certainly keep returning, since I always manage to find a ridiculous steal or long out-of-print item to add to my collection.

Surprisingly well stocked. I went here to look for used video games, and they were significantly less than what they typically charge at Gamestop. It looked like they also had a decent collection of used CDs and records, and a nice variety of genres. Definitely going back!

This location was formerly called Cd Max. They have used Cd’s, DVDs, games, and game systems and accessories. They usually have a good variety of systems in at once. Their DVD prices are very low including the box sets. If you can’t find something the staff will help you out. The staff is very relaxed and friendly. Make sure you aren’t on the phone when you check out. The DVDs are on the right side of the store with the Cd’s, the games and blu rays discs are on the left side. All of the accessories for any video game system are behind the counter, so ask the staff! You can also buy and sell your stuff as long as you come by 9pm because they close at 10.
