I used to love this café and still want to like it’s overall idea — for numerous reasons! But lately, I’m just constantly disappointed. Whenever I go in the morning, they always seem to be out of food menu items. I decided to give it one last chance this past week. In addition to being out of at least 6 or 7 menu items, I ordered the cobb salad and it came out as a plate full of spinach, a few red onion slices and a half-cooked hard boiled egg(the yolk wasn’t fully cooked) for $ 8! That’s not a cobb salad to me. Very underwhelming. They also don’t serve Sciortino’s bakery anymore and that was a big draw for me.

Great coffee. The iced chai is pretty amazing. Perfectly balanced. The sangria is a cocktail work of art, one of the best I have ever had. Sweet vibe, very relaxing. Nice way to spend an off day, although you can work if you want to(free WiFi). Plus… great happy hour specials… three dollar beer and select wines M-F 4 – 8. You can’t go wrong here.

Summary: great place to chill and catch up with friends or do work. Parking is on the street, have food and drink options, but only a handful of pastry options. Cool vibe! Loved this place came here after church on a Sunday afternoon around 1. Right around the corner from my apartment, so I know Ill be frequenting here often especially when it gets warm and I can walk. Street parking, but lots of street so don’t worry. Decent amount of seating and free wifi! Prices for coffee and foos were pretty reasonable. Heres what we got. –paleo bowl: no wow factor, good but nothing special. Probably wouldnt get it again –coffee: valentine pretty good loved the compostable lids :) –banana bread: loved esp with choc chips Guy at the counter was super friendly and also loved that they have blankets for use.

Excellent spot for java and brunch! Suitable place and extremely affordable costs. The breakfast burritos are tasty as well as the reality that they take Sciortino’s bakery things is a plus.

Pleasant Kafe is the perfect blend between a local boutique café and an efficient place to grab your morning coffee or get some work done on your laptop. The coffee is strong and delicious and the baked goods are fresh and wonderful. They have lighter healthy menu options as well. Did I mention they also serve wine? The staff is super friendly, and the owner is often there. She introduces herself to customers and gets to know the regulars which makes it a warm welcoming place to hang out. Every time I’ve stopped in there are a handful of people there and a steady in and out crowd at the counter, but there’s always a spot to sit. They have free wifi and they even have blankets on the chairs to make you comfy :). The natural light is cheery and the décor is cute and modern. This place draws in all sorts of people and is a refreshing alternative to the chain coffee spots. Side notes: –They have a deck of Cards Against Humanity –Perfect spot to have a drink before dinner at Sanford

I absolutely love this place for so many reasons: 1. Their happy hour is every weekday and is insanely cheap with delicious wines! 2. Their super friendly and welcoming service. Always smiling. Always happy. Always welcoming! 3. The fact that they have acai bowls… I mean really? In Milwaukee? Amazing. 4. Their cheese platters are HUGE and delicious One of my absolute favorite spots in MKE and highly recommend to all!

Has four months really flown by that fast? Considering that I live a hop/skip/throw away from here, I’ve become a regular. When I wrote my first review(probably attached below to this somewhere) — I had only been here one or two times, with larger groups, which might explain my experiences noted in that first review. Since then(so, in the last 4 months), I can honestly say this is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood and ALWAYS recommend it to anyone visiting the city. It’s an effing gem. Whenever I am hungry and too lazy to make anything, they have served as my food-saviors. Some of my highlights: Service — Amazing. I don’t know if it’s because half of the staff now know me from stopping in so much, but everyone is always super duper welcoming & friendly. They genuinely care about their clientele and take an active interest in those who return frequently. Food — The soups here are amazing. They change daily, and I will usually call to see what it is. The cheese boards are delicious, as well. They have fresh pastries every morning. The burritos are maybe not on my favorites list because they do seem to be pre-made and warmed up. The soup and cheese board give me enough variety to keep coming back, though. Drinks — Like I said in my first review, they have a GREAT happy hour($ 3 wine &LF Beers). The sangria is also phenomenal, when available and in season. The hot chocolate isn’t the pre-made or powder crap, and it made right in front of you, which I also appreciate. Prices — Reasonable, if not a total steal. I’m always so shocked at how cheap some of the items are for how great the quality. Overall, I highly recommend and will continue to frequent this great neighborhood establishment!

Bright, nice music, not crowded and yummy food. Today I ordered a cup of café mocha, drinking with tango music under the sunshine. What a beautiful day!

Nice location. Walking distance from the Third Ward/Bradley Center area. Really nice atmosphere. Really really nice music. Coffee and muffins are spot on. Service is pleasant. On street FREE parking. Prices are the norm. Only wished we discovered it sooner, would have loved to try the evening beer/wine menu.

Wonderful café/bar, a new favorite in Milwaukee! I spent a couple hours here studying with sangria– very comfortable, great staff and a delicious drink! The background music was great for studying. I was looking for a place open a bit later, and was impressed by how charming Pleasant Kafe looked when I drove up. Parking took a couple minutes to figure out, but when I did, it was free street parking. Definitely looking forward to coming back to try coffee and food!

I recently relocated to milwaukee and have been looking for a good coffee shop to work at. I work from home so it’s important to find a place to get out to once a week. Love this place so far! Great atmosphere, steadily busy but not too much so that it’s distracting. Good coffee and food! Employees are very friendly! Wifi works well! Also on street free parking is a huge bonus. Definitely will be coming back!

Really great. I stopped in here for a drink and light food(dessert) and it was very good. I especially liked the service and the atmosphere. When seated, it was like I had gone to door county and was in a small town coffee shop. The music was relaxing and quiet. It was just perfect. The service was fantastic. The server helped me choose the perfect beverage and food to go with it and warmly welcomed us when we first came in.

I’ve come here to study a few times and it’s fast become one of my favorite study spots for a # of reasons: — Solid WiFi(no poor connections here) — The food is great– if you don’t want the sandwich of the day they’ll offer to make you something else and it’ll be good — They have a happy hour($ 3 wines and beers). They don’t skimp on the wine either — They have these cute little red blankets draped over the backs of their chairs that you can use to keep you warm in the winter time — Every barista/bartender I’ve encountered has been incredibly friendly Now why didn’t I give them 5 stars you ask? If you’re there to study or have a quiet night, avoid happy hour time because they get pretty busy– which is great for them– bad for you. The place is all wood so it gets pretty loud in there. Otherwise though, I really like this place, too bad 4.75 stars isn’t an option…

I was happy to hear that a small, local café had opened up near me but I wouldn’t have known it if I hadn’t been told. It’s a pretty nondescript place and appears to have been a small home or something in the past. It is definitely a small, homey, and intimate environment, with the counter, a few tables, and a couple bars for seating on the lower floor and another cozy seating area a half floor up. It’s a good alternative for someone who wants a less bustle-y place than a Starbucks or the jam-packed Colectivo on Lincoln Memorial. Though I didn’t partake, I thought it was a nice option that they have a selection of wine and alcoholic drinks – something to set Pleasant Kafe apart. My coffee drink was good and I enjoyed my time here writing and getting distracted staring out the windows. I hope this little place can walk the line between being discovered enough to stay in business and hidden enough to avoid the crowds! I’ll be back to support them and try the food next time.

In honor of Valentine’s day, let me take a nod from Elizabeth Barrett Browning and list the ways I love thee. 1. They took an old run down building that had been an eye sore sitting in disrepair, and instead of tearing it down, they rehabbed it into a coffee/wine/food shop. 2. The beer and wine selections are solid. 3. The espresso drinks are great, and if you are dining in, you get your drink in a nice mug. And if you really want to get cozy, you can snuggle up with one of their blankets hanging around. 4. The soup and sandwich of the day are always great(Mushroom Brie anyone?). 5. You can check what the soup/sandwich is on their website. 6. If you don’t want a full meal, go for a bakery item or chacuterie board. 7. The baristas(if that’s what you call them) are all friendly and welcoming.

We enjoyed nice homey setting, background music, wifi, Italian Sausage, Broccoli Cheddar Cheese Soup, Chorizo Burrito, Mocha and Hot Chocolate. They did a great job with a major renovation/restoration of the Dentice Bros. building!

(Almost) first to review! I feel like I had been waiting for this place to open for-ev-er and had almost forgotten about it until i passed it on the way to work last week and saw the little«yes, were open» chalk board out in front. The feeling must be mutual because a man came in while I was waiting to say he just wanted to see if they were open and he’d be back with his wife. I stopped in on a Saturday morning while doing laundry nearby(most likely looking every bit like I was doing laundry after having just woken up.:) Inside…there’s a bar at the barista area and one at the window. What surprised me was a whole nicely done up full dining area up a set of stairs that a barista was bringing full plates of breakfast sandwiches up to. I came for the coffee, however. They serve Valentine Coffee here – the carafes I saw had bering sea and the bali blends. Three sizes, the usual suspects– mochas, chais, lattes, etc. as well as several other more unusual items like a «cascara» which I’m told is more of a tea made from coffee beans and described as a poor man’s coffee, and something called a «pleasant slap»(espresso?). You can get almond or soy milk substituted for .$ 60. I went with a large almond milk latte which for about $ 4.15, I thought was very reasonably priced and I really enjoyed it. They also serve wine(featured prominently in a bar overhead) and beer. I overheard that there closing time may be flexible to start depending on the number of customers in during the evening. It seems like it’ll be a popular spot with all the nearby apartment dwellers. Look for the striped awnings and check it out!
