My family and I have supported Rich’s a few times before and enjoyed their cakes. However, I recently went to buy a birthday cake for my brother and had the worst experience. Although I was a little turned off after paying $ 51 for a 10″ cake, I didn’t mind because the lady working there said that was the best and most requested cake. As I brought the cake home, I left it in the box to thaw. After four hours of thawing I lifted the lid to check on the cake only to find lint and pieces of hair on the cake. A few minutes after further inspection I found a bug DEAD on the frosting. At that point it was already after business hours, so I emailed the email address provided and never got a response. I had to call several times to get through to a person and finally got my refund. This situation makes me wonder how they track their cakes and its freshness.

Kinda creepy in this place. Everything looks to be overpriced for what it is. Given the high cost and large selection in their coolers, it left me wondering how fresh the $ 60+ cakes really were. Also found it very off-putting that they tried to impose a $ 20 purchase requirement in order to use a credit card. They made an «exception» for my $ 15 order, but I couldn’t help telling the sales lady that it is actually illegal to impose purchase limits on credit card transactions. She had nothing to say back. Felt a little robbed and regretful of my purchase afterwards. I should have walked away when I had the chance.

Wonderful service! Awesome cake! Walked in with no ideas, walked out with a great cake.

The one star is solely for the horrible customer service. We ordered an anniversary cake and the design was completely different from what we ordered. We went to talk to the owner, who by the way is the most arrogant and unprofessional guy ever. He didn’t take ownership of the service, he put the blame on his employee calling her a «MORON». Seriously?! He literally argued with us, instead of taking responsibility of HIS shop. I asked them specifically to call me when they deliver the cake at the party venue and they didn’t and I realize now why as the design was completely different than what we ordered. Moreover, their cakes are expensive compared to other bakeries in the area. They only accept CASH which is very inconvenient! I admit the cake was moist and very tasty. No complaints there. But we won’t be going back to the bakery again because of that guy’s attitude towards his customers. If ONLY the taste of the cake is important and you are willing to pay a LOT for it(with terrible customer service) then this place is it but if you’re looking for a good priced cake that you will be happy with find some other place

I never thought I would be disappointed by the gift of cupcakes. With that said, my mom brought me cupcakes to use up her groupon before it expired, and I was pretty unimpressed. I actually felt robbed on her behalf. For almost $ 3 a cupcake-(I think she said $ 15 for 6), they were so SMALL-like the liners were barely filled before baking. And the visual appeal left a lot to de desired. It was sad frosting(good taste) with a sad looking, but tasty candy on top. The overall taste was fine but was so tainted by my disappointment in the size and aesthetic. The cake was light and very fine-I’ve never wondered if cake flour was used until I had his cupcake so they had that going for them. However, We had red velvet and vanilla so it’s not like the cost of ingredients warranted such a huge markup. Cupcakes can command a decent price but make it worth my while. Don’t just gouge people because they bought a deal because as it stands, I’d never go back(and like every family, we have plenty of birthday business Id be happy not to give to a big box store). All in all-taste was good and husband loved the taste, but size, visual and price was 1 star.

Extremely disappointed… ordered a cake for our companies 10 year anniversary party and they delivered the cake 3 hours early to avoid seeing anyone because the cake was lopsided and very unpresentable. When I sent an email to explain my dissatisfaction I didn’t even get a call or an email back. Although the cake tasted good, I would never order from them again. Customer service is not good. I remember going in there to order the cake, the lady was very unfriendly and unhelpful.

Let me start by saying, yes, I tried this place for the first time with a Groupon. I feel a lot of places judge their customers if they come in with a Groupon. While I wasn’t mistreated in anyway, I think maybe my order didn’t get the service and detail it deserved because it was a Groupon order. I got a dozen cupcakes for $ 16.(To me, that’s a reasonable price for 12 cupcakes so had I spent anymore than that(full price) I would be even more dissatisfied). The cupcakes were for a baby announcement for my coworkers. I wanted something cute and tastefully done, not gaudy. I was charged $ 3 for them to add the plastic«Its a boy» cake rings. I asked if I could add blue sprinkles but that would have been an additional charge. While I understand this is a business and people need to make money, charging extra for a few sprinkles is ridiculous! I picked my cupcakes up and the service was fast and friendly. However, I have to rate the decorating of my dozen cupcakes below average.(Picture has been posted). The frosting was running way over the top on one and they were just BORING. And please look at the picture, what are the colored swirls in the white frosting? I also saw blue swirls on some as well. Okay, so decorations weren’t great. All that matters is how they taste right? I give taste one star. I was happy to hear they make their cakes from scratch but I could have done a better job with a cake mix! The cupcakes were dry, flavorless and the frosting was too sweet. If I had time, I would take these home to my husband who eats anything and make my own cupcakes to give to my coworkers. But Im pregnant and tired and wanted to save time. Lesson learned. I’ll make my own from now on or make the drive out to Germantown and order from Cake n Bake!

I’ve ordered cup cakes and even picked up cream puffs here before. We looked here for wedding cakes, but actually did not purchase here. The prices were comparatively high compared to other fine bakeries. I have to say that customer service is a problem here. One day I stopped in to buy cupcakes with a certain kind of toy ring topper. The cup cakes were important, but I wanted a special kind of ring for my niece. I was asking someone who seemed like the boss about these toy rings. He acted really disgusted and told me, «I don’t peddle plastic things, I bake cakes!» All I wanted to know, was what cup cake toppers he had, to go on cup cakes that I was going to order from him. He was extremely rude about it.

I vote this to be the best place to get a cake in the city of Milwaukee. First and foremost, it is local. Secondly, it is actually open for walk-ins, unlike most other cake places in Milwaukee.(**cough**Eat Cake**cough**) Thirdly, there is a great deal of creative freedom and variety in deciding what to get as a cake. Can I recommend a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake? I get one once a year and it is amazing!

Cute place, like a toy store exploded onto cakes! Baked goods are great. Moist cakes with fluffy frostings. My husband loves their cupcakes since most have cream cheese based frostings which he loves. Very nice/helpful people. Stop in for a smile and a sweet treat!

IT’S A HOUSEMADEOFCAKES. I stumbled upon Rich’s House of Cakes while driving to Pacific Produce. The huge white script letters on the chocolate brown building drew me in. Walking into Rich’s is like a surreal scene from a Tarantino movie. The building is a Milwaukee bungalow but where furniture would be there are tables of beautiful wedding and birthday cake displays in every color the human retina can detect. My group of three ordered a few single serving desserts and the consensus was they looked better than they tasted. The owner was really nice and it’s hard to knock a family owned business that’s been at it for over fifty years. WEBSITE: There are a lot of examples of their wedding cake work on their website. **Unchain and Support Local Business**

All the cakes are made from scratch, with fresh ingredients. This is a family owned bakery that specializes in only one thing and they do it better than anyone else. They are the best ever.
