The Duplex

Descriptive phrase: have a drink in someone’s (club-​y) house!
I’ve been to The Duplex twice now. The first time was a Thursday night around 10PM: dead. The second time was a Saturday night around 11PM: dead. When do people show up?
The Duplex is just that; a duplex, tucked next to Bad Genie. The bartenders and bouncers were nice both times, and drinks were served promptly. It was a bit confusing that they charged the same for the special craft beers as they did for a bottle of High Life ($ 4), so always go for the good stuff. They don’t have a wide selection, though.
The first floor is a little dance floor with a bar, kind of like a club. The second floor is more like a person’s house-​party. It’s different, to be sure.
I want to like The Duplex, but I don’t particularly want to be the only person in a bar. Maybe I’ll try a Friday at 11:30PM?

Been coming to The Duplex almost every Saturday for the last few months now. Drinks are always great, staff is friendly and the team trivia is the best!
We’re sad to see them closed lately for trivia due to various situations (exploding roads, injured bartenders, St Patty’s Day…), and we are itching to come back!

Very quaint inside, went their for happy hour, so it was very quiet. It picks up later after 9:00. The bartebder was very friendly. I had the best cocktail, unfortunately it’s seasonal, it was an apple pie bellini. Hope to make it back before they discontinue for the season.

We were kind of wandering Jefferson street early in the evening and walked in VERY early (probably 9ish). There was no one but what looked like staff so we walked out to head elsewhere. One of the bartenders (long hair and a nose ring) was really friendly, told us it doesn’t get busy til 1130, but to come back a little later in the evenin. Me, to my friend: «that chick just totally sold this place to me – this is going on Unilocal!» Ha, well anyhow, later in the evening…
We returned, at about 10:30 and it had picked up. Good dj, lots of liquor choices, no prob getting a drink. The upstairs seemed smaller, but it is all got a nice feel to it-​like ur in somebodies house as the name implies.
So Jefferson st. has a lot going on now. Nice!

Our Group decided to try this place out, after reading about it online. The establishment has the feel of being a house party as this once was a duplex on Jefferson Street next to Bad genie and Taylors.
This is not a very big place but does have a comfortable feel the first floor has a large bar where the dining room would have been and the dance floor takes up the living room area the second floor bedrooms have been converted into a great lounge area for friends to sit and chat furnished with couches, chairs, coffee table and end tables. The only drawback was that the second floor is small but this once was a duplex so it was not designed to be a club so I was fine with this drawback. There is also a smaller bar on the second floor. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff as busy as they were they were very attentive and at no point did i have to flag down a bartender to get drink. I will definitely come back to this place again.
