This place has poor customer service. I ordered for pick up a barbecue chicken pizza. Upon arriving it has a cute café style inside. I made my way to the cash register to pick up my pizza. I waited for a good 10 minutes while at least 6 different staff members walk past me and don’t even acknowledge I’m there. Finally another customer comes in to stand behind me. That’s when I finally get greeted with a ‘what can I get you?’ That’s fine and all maybe the pizza is amazing and that’s how they get away with this behavior. Nope. Worst pizza I’ve had in Milwaukee. It was greasy and soggy. There was not enough sauce on the pizza and the overall presentation was terrible. The focaccia bread also tasted stale. I won’t try this place again, although they have an interesting menu. Overall not great.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. Me and my sister went here at the end of December of 2015 on a Tuesday when I was visiting in WI. We loved the low key atmosphere and musicians playing jazz music was very relaxing to go with our sparkling wine that we ordered from our attentitive waitress. She was very pleasant and helped us out with our pizza choice. We went with the DaVinci, which was oh so good and we scarfed it down in no time! We also got a discount on the wine(half price wine for a full bottle) and there was a discount of $ 5 on our order from my sister’s members card(order online) if you spend $ 25 on food and drinks. I will be definitely coming back again when I am visiting in WI again.

My favorite pizza joint in Milwaukee. Why? 1. Location 2. Bike friendly 3. Live music during the week 4. Fabulous service 5. Great crafts on draft The food is pretty good too. ;) For starters, I like the Bruchetta Salami appetizer. The plate is amazing and it is always warm and made to order. Munching on that is nice with a beer or wine while waiting for the pizza. Pizzas come in two sizes so you can order as an individual(small) or split with a group(large). The garlic cream sauce on the garlic pizzas is to die for. I like all of the garlic pizzas, especially the one with mushrooms. The Paisano is another winner. It has a blend of tomato sauce and pesto and is topped with sausage that has a nice kick. If you’re a vegetarian, the Da Vinci uses the same sauce combo and is almost as good. Almost.

Not bad, but not great. I’ve had a few pizzas from here now, and I’m not all that impressed. The first time I had the Piasano(pesto, spicy sausage, asiago) and didn’t really enjoy it. The pesto just didn’t do it for me. I ate it, but nothing I would order again. On my second visit I had the garlic cheese bread and Prosciutto Fungi. I liked this pizza a lot more, but overall it was a little bland. The garlic bread was easily something I could have made at home with some Italian bread, garlic, and mozzarella, so I don’t recommend this. Transfer does offer some weekday specials, happy hour, specials during football games, and live music that would be worth checking out. Also to note, the building itself is pretty neat since it was an old pharmacy. So if you’re into old buildings with a cool history, you’ll appreciate this place.

Stopped in for pizza on a Friday night with my man. He had been there before, I had not. I have always heard great things though, so I was really looking forward to finally getting to try this pizza! We were seated right away, which was awesome — but it was such a tiny table and in such a horrible place where we just seemed to be in everyone’s way. Also, it was INSANELY loud. Like hard to hear each other talking across the table, loud. Anyway — we ordered an appetizer(spinach & artichoke dip) and some beers to start. Holy dip, Batman! The amount of dip that arrived at our table was insane — we finished all the bread and it looked like we had hardly touched the dip. The dip was good, but nothing overly exciting /nothing to write home about I guess you’d say. On to the za! Since we do pizza every week(and like to try different pizza joints) we try to always get the same thing so we can really get a good read on who has the best of the best! That being said, we ordered our usual pepperoni pizza(boring, but usually delicious) and we also ordered the Thai chicken pizza(he had had it before and thought it was great). The pizza seemed to be taking a long time to get to us, but it was pretty busy so I guess it didn’t seem totally abnormal, and I was hoping it would be well worth the wait anyway. Sadly, it really wasn’t. The Thai chicken(my boyfriend said) he remembered being a lot better than it was, and we both agreed the crust really left something to be desired. It was almost like an unfinished crust /something you’re not supposed to eat — very dry, very powdery, very bland(like VERY bland — zero flavor bland). The pepperoni pizza was ok, but the flavor was really nothing spectacular. Not sure I’d give Transfer another go … seemed to be more of a miss than a hit for us.

Be mindful of the step in/out of this place. I noticed it on my way in but definitely not on my way out when I continued walking like it was all one level almost falling to my death. Ok maybe not death but if my catlike balance i hadn’t kicked, I surely would have biffed it. Now to the stuff that really matters, the food. For sure order the bruschetta salami. It is so amazing! I’ve actually ordered this go before because I’d been craving it, it’s that good. This place is known for their pizza. So many varieties, and categorized for easy browsing. I went with the La Bella — garlic cream sauce, onions, artichoke and of course cheese. It was good but I think I was still riding the bruschetta high so it seemed just ok. My sister got a pizza called Stacey’s special which had chicken and other items that I didn’t pay attention but she loved it. Our server was great, friendly and funny. Prices, reasonable. Personal pizzas, which could easily be shared with someone else, range from $ 9-$ 11, and the bruschetta was $ 9, I believe. Tuesdays there is jazz music and the place can get pretty busy and loud. My Grandma loves coming here for jazz night.

Transfer Pizzeria is off the chain!!! Its the gold standard!!! Scrumdiddlyumptious!!! The good-good!!! Service here is impeccable. Every time. Which is a rarity in this world. High five for quality consistency! Right when you walk in, somebody greets you at the door. Whether that person is the bartender, host, server, or even the bus boy, somebody greets you. Another plus is, they keep it real here at Transfer Pizzeria Café. They don’t try to up sell you on anything or grind your gears to try to sell you another beer even if it would help their tip count. The pizza is for real one of the best I’ve had in Milwaukee. And always the same. Consistency again, on par. Transfer serves espresso coffee, like any good Italian restaurant should, and they decided to partner with the local coffee roaster, Valentine Coffee. One of my favorites in Milwaukee. I also see that they have really good specials for people who decide to ride the bus or a bike to Transfer. 20% off on Wednesdays and I know that UW-Milwaukee has a coupon that they give away to UPASS carriers of $ 5.95 for a small one topping pizza and can of soda. Not bad. So, stop in and eat local. The pizza and the atmosphere will surely have you coming back for more.

Transfer is a mainstay in my books. If I can take my dad somewhere hip in walkers point and he likes it, anyone will like this place. The garlic cream pizzas… Any of em. Just do it. The salad with the curry. Do that too. Tuesday nights for live music. So good. I believe they have half priced bottles of vino that day too. Win and win right there, folks.

I hate to be a debby downer on this one because all my friends love this place. I finally was able to get here with a co-worker of mine. The atmosphere was awesome, although I might have been too over-zealous for our neighbors. Hey! If you’re too worried about the good time I’m having, maybe you should have stayed in or better yet, have a shot and loosen up. I was amped from a stressful day at work, so. Yeah. Anywho, my counter-part and I ordered their veggie pizza. I have a picture but the ambiance is so intimate that it’s in very low lighting. The flavors? On point. I thought it tasted very good. HOWEVER, the crust was wet and floppy. Thinking back to it now, we might have sent it back. But I hate being that person. Plus, like I said, flavor is there! I just cant stand when a crust doesn’t hold up to the toppings. It just sucks. And doesn’t make for good pizza eating. I mean, who wants to eat pizza with a fork?! Really. That’s what u had to do. Well. Honestly I love pizza so I’m willing to give this place another shot in the future. Parking is off-street, which is also annoying. But the place wasn’t busy at all, so we sat right away. Pizza is a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected.

I love this pizza place. I always order the tutti vegetariani with vegan cheese and I usually let them surprise me with the veggies and it’s always amazing. I’m not sure what type of vegan cheese they use(it may even be homemade), but it’s much better than typical Daiya cheese. It’s in clumps rather than shreds so it acts as more of a topping rather than a covering. The drinks are pretty good I always choose one of their cocktail options on the menu. I appreciate the atmosphere. It’s a nice sit down place, definitely classier than your typical pizza joint. Although the pizza I always order is amazing it is disappointing to me that there is almost nothing else vegan on the menu. They offer breadsticks and pasta none of which are vegan. It seems like if they can make a delicious vegan pizza it would be easy to provide a few other options.

Not a bad thing to say about this place. Me and my sister arrived close to closing time on a Tuesday night and were greeted promptly by a personable and friendly waitress. We ordered the half price wine and one of their large specialty pizzas. Both were impressive and we devoured the whole pizza. The vibe is very community and low key, I felt very comfortable and pleased with the service and will definitely be returning!

Really great gluten free pizza. And gluten free bruschetta? I couldn’t have been happier to find that on a menu! They obviously have taken the time to create a gf dough that works, or at least that’s what I am hoping is the case, that it’s not a frozen whatwhat. Friendly waitstaff, and accommodating to families with children. Good drink selection. If I lived in Milwaukee I’d frequent this place, for sure!

Transfer pizza has great staff, nice ambiance — but as a celiac/gf person go elsewhere in Milwaukee for pizza. The gf pizza is lackluster, expensive, and you’re better off going to Rustico, Wolf Peach, or just buying crust. I am sure the original pizza is great but I am writing this review for the celiacs and gluten sensitive people of the city. I think to make the effort of offering gf crust worth it they should try offering a gf deep dish pizza or a paleo cauliflower/egg crust. I would go back for that. There are just better options in Milwaukee for thin crust gf pizza.

Two words: Garlic Pizza. Those are really the only two words you need to know in regards to Transfer. Oh ok, and maybe bruschetta salami. They have a large selection of pies and some good gluten free options, but honestly I have a hard time straying from any of the garlic pizzas, its a pizza with a garlic sauce base instead of red sauce and I just can’t get enough. Great great food and excellent service every time I have been. I am always down to eat pizza, but always especially down to eat pizza at Transfer.

Highlights/Lowlights 1) gluten free pizza available! 2) friendly service 3) casual atmosphere Visited Transfer Pizza on a Saturday night. We had a larger group so we made a reservation, but the place wasn’t super busy so we probably wouldn’t have needed to. We were seated right away and our super friendly server got us all waters, walked is through the specials etc. The atmosphere is really casual — almost café style! This restaurant is included in the 2015 Milwaukee city tins. There are TONS of pizzas to choose from! Everything from your basic Za to BBQ chicken to pesto etc. Gluten free crust is available in the small size. There are a variety of appetizers, salads etc. as well. We shared the Brazilio salad and it was HUGE! The curry dressing was super unique and the salad made for an awesome starter. We also got the spinach and artichoke dip and the staff was able to serve the dip with gluten free bread! The dip was just ok but the gluten free bread rocked. The pizza was SUPER good, the gluten free crust was one of the better g free crusts I’ve had. Definitely worth a visit!

It looks like I’m alone here but I am really not a fan of this pizza. We tried it tonight and I was really excited but was pretty let down. The pizza was a bit undercooked so the dough was too droopy to pick up and to soft to cut, it was pretty hard to eat. The sauce was very thin and tasted a bit on the sweet side, not at all herb-y or tomato-y. If it was seasoned i didn’t see or taste it. Overall it wasn’t very flavorful, I only ate a piece and a half! That’s unheard of for me and pizza :( Three stars because the girl who took my order was nice. Sadly, I will be going elsewhere for pizza.

Went at 4pm on a Sunday. Interesting older building. Pretty easy street parking. The host and server were nice. The house salad had very nice mixed greens with tasty blue cheese dressing. Had the Paisano pizza. Very good sausage. I enjoyed the crust too.(Note I worked my way through 4 years of college working at a take-out pizza kitchen, even making Italian sausage; so I know a thinger two about pizza.) The crowd included all sorts: student age, families, and older people like me. There were many other Italian menu items, several tempted me versus the pizza. I would go again and recommend it to others.

The lactose intolerant among Unilocal users feel me when I express just how much I miss eating pizza. I’ve been unable to eat most pizza for years now, and it’s a pain I carry with me every day. Gone are the days of getting a little too drunk and ending up, inevitably, at Ian’s on North. I may have outgrown getting too drunk on the east side(mostly). I may have outgrown that peculiar evolutionary trick that allows so many of us to eat milk products. I have not outgrown my love of pizza. My friends, as strange as it is to say this, I am so glad. Enter Transfer Pizzeria. Not only is their menu exquisite, not only do they offer flavors that take pizza from a shameful drunken late-night indulgence to a meal actually worthy of a real grown-up date night, but — the cheese! They offer this amazing, amazing vegan mozzarella, that can only be explained by witchcraft. I have never tried any other fake cheese that tastes & feels this good. It’s the only place I know of in town that offers pizza of this caliber to the 25% of Americans(!!!) who are lactose intolerant. If you someday find yourself, digestively speaking, in my boat, people may tell you: «You can just order a pizza without the cheese!» That is the opposite of a compromise. People who tell you to eat cheese-less pizza are not your friends. They are monsters. This place can never close. I will lose my will to eat pizza and drink wine, and without that, I don’t know who I am. Please don’t ever change, Transfer.

I really like this place. It’s in kind of a transitional neighborhood, but still has the draw of Walker’s Point and Bay View. The décor is classic from the old transfer station(hence the name). The service is friendly and solid.(We came on a weekday for lunch, so the place was dead.) The pizza here is more Northern Italian than most if us are used to here. There isn’t so much emphasis in heavy tomato sauces and meats, though both are available if you want them. I had a hard time choosing only pizzas from the menu. There are so many interesting options that I want to try! Darn you transfer. The Pisano pizza was delicious. The spicy sausage had a ton of flavor without being hot. Normally I don’t like pesto sauce on pizza, but the fresh tomato really tied together with the pesto to still register as «pizza». The carbonara pizza was a bit lost on me. It is a pizza crust with cheese, egg, and bacon. It struck me as a great breakfast dish, but not the awesomeness that is carbonara. It needed something to kick up the flavor. Perhaps they forgot the black pepper. It certainly wasn’t bad, just a little bland. The flavors of the crust, cheese, and even eggs were clean and good. Thank you transfer. I will definitely be back.

My friends love this place. And I admit, that I have never been a huge fan, but after some urging, I came in tonight for dinner. Started with a beer right away– to my surprise, all taps were $ 2 during happy hour(3:30−6:30) SOLD! This include des the micro brews– not only that, but right before the special was going to end the bartender popes over and asked if we wanted another before happy hour was over– that’s just that little bit of service that goes a long way for me! Had the artichoke and spinach dip, it was fine. Just a touch over lukewarm when served and served with just bread, like sliced bread. I mean it’s decent bread, but I think I would enjoy better of served on crostini. Never been a fan of the pizza, but gave it another try. While I will never enjoy their sauce(it’s just crushed tomato– no seasoning) I chose the Hawaiian and was surprised by the topping. The thick sliced ham covered the entire pizza, so I got to enjoy it every bite. And the pineapple was ample as well– I was impressed! And I just have to give overall props to our server/bartender– he was awesome. Authentically friendly, responsive without being overly invasive– he was awesome. I will be back to take advantage of more drink specials and Hawaiian pizza!

Transfer, I want to give you more stars but for now, 3 stars it is. I loved the actual restaurant with the cool, funky, retro kind of vibe. We came in at 9:30 on a Saturday night and were seated right away. Our order: 3 small garlic sauce pizzas– Katalina, Garlic special, and the roasted potato chicken. Special instructions: extra garlic sauce. After what seemed like quite a wait, we finally got our pizzas. The small is pretty decently sized, we could have gone with ordering 2 for 3 of us but we were hangry. Anyway, the pizzas were good(my personal fave– roasted potato chicken with the garlic special coming in a close second). I say good but we were pretty disappointed in the lack of garlicky flavor. The pizzas had a hint of garlic… so much for extra garlic sauce. Our waitress brought us some extra garlic sauce on the side and that’s where we may have found the problem– the sauce itself didn’t have a strong garlic flavor. Sure, we didn’t get the flavor we were looking for but it doesn’t mean I won’t give it another try. The price was right and the flavors were just almost there. The customer service was pretty great too so I guess it’ll be until next time Transfer!

I won’t share this pizza Oh Transfer, how have I not reviewed you?! I’ve tried numerous items off their menu over the past couple years and have never been disappointed. Melanzana — your basic pizza with garlic and eggplant circles is amazing. My current fave is the garlic lovers — garlic cream sauce with cheese, pepperoni and sausage, yum! For starters you cannot pass up the bruschetta salami. I’d never buy salami but put it on bread slathered in garlic butter mayo along with tomato and shaved cheese and I can devour an order on my own. It’s so good you should need a prescription! Great drinks, sometimes they’ve got live music going on. Depending on the time of your visit it can be pretty hipster here, both in terms of service and other patrons.
