I love Aldi. Full stop. Prices are far better than anywhere else. Where else can you get an avocado for $ 0.69? Or eggs for $ 1.60 a dozen? Or a package of about forty tortalini for under two bucks? Fresh fruit and veg are high quality and a good 40% cheaper than elsewhere, too. Love their Priano brand pasta sauces, especially the primavera. The Alfredo style sauces are excellent and all these are under two dollars. And their bacon!!! At $ 3.69 a pound you can’t beat it(Thin-sliced though, which I prefer. The thick stuff is a little higher.). Now, you do need to bring your own shopping bags if you don’t want to pay for them, but so what? You also have to push a quarter into a slot to unlock a cart, but that means no stray carts in the parking lot to back into. I also appreciate a store that I can see across. I loathe Cub and the other giants that I need a GPS to find my way around in. Anyway, I love Aldi and recommend it to anyone who wants to cut their food budget substantially.

Thanks to shopping Aldi’s, I save so much money for my family. I love the fact that they offer whole-grain products, plant-based milks, and very reasonably priced organic produce. Their spaghetti sauce is my all-time favorite! I like this location because it’s close to home and the staff there are very friendly.

I find Aldi to have a lot of fresh produce and lately they stock a few high quality juices. For staple items, this is the place to go. I prefer going in the weekday morning hours for a pleasant experience.

I had read a review of ALDI in the StarTribune in like 2008 and was intrigued. It is an experience and a different game than Cub. Yes 90% of the stuff is generic but I have loved everything but their Mama Cozy’s pizzas.(and 35¢ chicken pot pies kinda scare me) Selection/sizes are limited. You buy your bags. You«rent» a cart for 25¢. There might be a line at the checkout. If you’re a baker– you need to go. For staple foods, this is the place to go. Throwing a party and need snacks/party food– here. Their seasonal items are AMAZING but limited. I bought a gazebo for $ 119(they had 3) Their selection of Xmas food(like quality chocolate) is AMAZING. Do not fall in love with their seasonal special buys. If you do, go right back and stock up, nothing seems to be forever at ALDI.

When I found out this place was going in on the corner of Penn and Lowry I thought, ‘well, it’s generic groceries, but at least there will be some place I can walk to for a gallon of milk or a block of cheese or whatever. It can’t be anything but good!’ I was wrong. I was so wrong. Aldi is to groceries what the Bush administration is to diplomacy. It acknowledges their existence as a food product, but then spits in their eye. The few times I’ve been here they have had no fresh produce, but multiple pallets of «U.S. Foodservice» applesauce in half-gallon cans. Not one bottle of non-concentrate fruit juice, but all the off-brand cream soda you could ask for. Seriously, people, this is why we have an obesity epidemic in this country — because people who have to shop at the cheap stores(80% of the population) don’t have any healthy options. Aldi, help us out, or leave us alone!
