Anodyne, this is my very late Valentine. for your day old pastries were divine. Your space was hip and metalic, you just needed some art that was more falic, but I’m not just being a smart aleck. So sorry you are kaput, I hope the old site does more than gather soot.

One of best coffee shops in the Twin Cities, and one of my favorite places to come enjoy a book and a meal. The service is friendly, the food is fresh and flavorful, the coffee beverages are delicious, and the ambiance is chill. The music is really good in here. LOVE. I got some fantastic lentil, sausage, and kale soup at my last visit, along with a sweet cold press concoction made with maple deliciousness that was so tasty, I actually felt sad when it was gone.(Many thanks to the barista who recommended it for me!)

Everything that we have ordered off the menu has been great. The quiche special, fruit crisp waffle, Tuna on Toast etc. It’s not only a great place to have your caffeine fix but also to satisfy your hunger. I also like that it has plenty of free street parking and is very spacious inside. Lastly, the service is always great.

This is a no-nonsense coffee shop and community meeting place. It’s the best coffee shop I’ve seen for spending extensive time working. It’s hard telling how many local politicos and people who work from home use it as their place to hold meetings. You never know who you’ll see. The important elements are the numerous places to sit and work, the plethora of outlets, the low noise levels and the good selection of drinks, food and snacks. They wireless is usually trustworthy but can get a little slow if you have a couple people taking up a lot of bandwidth. The time to never try to stop by and work? Weekend brunch! They are always busy but are able to manage a large crowd without too long of wait. A good standard for brunch is the Anodyne Waffle. The mixture of fruit and nuts on a fluffy waffle is a great way to start the day without feeling like you just overdosed on sugar. The Anodyne Oatmeal is similarly good. They have a great play area for kids. If you need a little bit of sweet they also have a good selection of Sebastian Joe’s Ice Cream.

pretty pretty solid. Besides great coffee, amazing food and great staff, I use Anodyne to meet with client’s, co-wokers, etc, etc as a place to discuss business. It may seem like it’s a tight knit setting, but I have always felt comfortable to discuss business here. Plus, everyone is typically rocking out to their earbuds anyway. Oh, and their refill policy is amazing — Self serve coffee with an honor code to deposit $ 0.75 if someone wants a 2nd cup.

Looking for a neighborhood hangout away from hipsters? How about a fab new brunch spot? Andoyne is your coffeehouse! Wi-Fi included! Sometimes it’s a nice treat to escape the hipster-induced uptown coffee shops filled with everyone and their mother on their«Apple» laptops drinking $ 9 lattes, surfing Facebook for hours all fighting for electrical outlets and tables. Kingfield’s Andoyne has a «everyone is welcome» vibe that works for just about anything you can imagine. It’s a great spot to meet friends for brunch, grab an afternoon coffee with a buddy or even have a quick business meeting. There is a sense of community immediately when you walk in the door. Friendly service, always! The house made«Mischief Spice Chai“is a perfect treat for anytime of the year. The perfectly blended spices take me back to those cozy roadside chai cafes in India. If you’re in the mood for food, expect a great brunch and lunch selection. And if you are looking for a cool treat during the summer months, don’t forget about Anodyne’s selection of Sebastian Joe’s ice cream.

What a great little local spot to grab a coffee and sit for a while. I tried the chai tea and really enjoyed it. Their fresh baked goods are delish too. I had the chocolate croissant and it was wonderful. A perfect spot to meet someone for coffee or just sit and read a book.

I’m giving this place 4 stars more because of its ambience than its food. The place is charming, unique, artsy, welcoming, and warm. Loved it right when I saw it driving and looking for parking. The service here is also fantastic — everyone is super friendly and always nice. We got breakfast here — I got the special of the day which was a pesto omelette, which came with toast and jam(ours was raspberry, not sure if they change it depending on the season). The omelette was good except that the pesto was overly strong and they smeared it only in the center which made the omelette too salty and because of the thinness of the omelette, it made the entire dish a little unpalatable once I got to the last few bites, which were just center of the omelette. I wish they had more apple cider, but they were out for the season. They have a great spread and variety of coffees and teas and I’d love to come back to do some work there some day. Their apple fritters are AMAZING. It stays crunchy the next day too and it has the perfect balance of apple, fried dough, and sugar. Mmmmm. Gotta go back!

Anodyne is a perfect neighborhood coffee shop, right down to the baristas who could give a shit about your experience. I’ve never experienced outright rudeness at Anodyne, but there is a palpable loftiness that reminds me of the heyday of Mpls coffee shops in the late 90s, when baristas were a gift to all us plebes lucky enough to be graced by their tattoos, unique hairstyles/piercings, and superior musical tastes. I don’t patronize coffee shops to be fawned over by the staff, so I’m not butthurt that no one seems happy to see me when I walk in to buy my large black Mississippi Mud to go. Regardless, I’ll keep tipping and hope that someday I might be on the receiving end of a genuine smile.

When I die, I hope my coffin will be covered in six feet of French, Vietnamese, and Jamaican coffee beans. My caffeine addiction is bad, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to survive a morning without a cup of black go-juice. It’s so bad that even though I had a morning meeting at a java shop, I decided to stop at another on my way home. And I’m glad I did. If a chic Grateful Dead fan had a coffee house, I think it would look something like Anodyne. Metal tables and chairs, Christmas lights, a stairway to nowhere, and a colorful interior — provide an atmosphere that’s conducive for everything from get-togethers with friends to mobile workers camping out for hours(like me). In fact, I stayed there for three hours without generating any lower back pain(due to my comfy chair) and plowed through tons of work. The wifi connection is solid and the music doesn’t make your ears cry for earplugs. Also, they play a pleasant selection of blues, which is generally great for background music. For drink and food, I purchased a HoneyBear Latte(a latte with honey) and Super Burrito. My HoneyBear tasted strong, although I didn’t taste any honey. As for the burrito, it was a bit bland for my taste. If the chef used a bit more salt and lightly heated the tortilla, it would have tasted significantly better. Perhaps it’s my fault I ordered the Super Burrito. I should have gotten a baked good or a sandwich. Nonetheless, the Southwest neighborhood continues to impress me with its plethora of charming businesses, and Anodyne is certainly one of them.

I don’t know why, but I always seem to forget the name of this place. I’ve gone there twice thinking, «Oh, this is a new coffee shop I’ve never been to before», only to drive over and say, «Wait, no, I’ve been here before…» Maybe it’s just because I don’t understand the connection of the name to the place? Décor: A pretty solid coffeeshop– lots of little private seats and even some communal seating. It has a nice eclectic interior design that screams«Local» all over it. Do note, though, that this is not a place you go to cozy up to a fireplace. It’s more a place to get some work done or have a quick chat with some people Service: Always with a smile! Drinks: I do like their special names and special concoctions(I love the me some honey latte!), so thumbs up on that piece. Overall: You’ll probably see me back there a few times not forgetting that I’ve been there before. I don’t find it anything too special because I like my coffeeshops a bit more warmer/cozier.

I thought Anodyne was just another coffee shop. You know what I mean by that because we’ve got a million of them in Minneapolis. It’s not though! They’ve got a full breakfast(quiche, waffles, eggs) AND things for lunch and dinner(sandwiches, salads, chili). I tried a cold press and one of their savory scones. The cold press was so dark and full-flavored. Beware that it’s super strong and will grow hair on your chest. But wow, I am awake now! The scone tasted okay, but was really soft, almost undercooked. I love the atmosphere inside though. With the«living room”-type space you can cozy up to someone while you’re sipping your beverages. The long table makes this place seem so community-oriented and there is so many plants in the outdoor space. Could it be that this place feels like home??? Note to self: come back and try the Croque Monsieur made with ham from a local farm.

A refrigerator inside has«anodyne: something that soothes, calms, or comforts» etched above it. Good job living up to your name, Anodyne. I came here on one of my office-away-from-the-office days, and was quite pleased. I immediately found a table near the window with an outlet below it(a huge win for someone who spends 99% of their waking life in front of a screen). The soundtrack from«There’s Something About Mary» was playing, which caused an immediate heart palpitation.* David Bowie followed.(Can you tell music is a deciding factor in how much I enjoy a place?) I ordered an iced tea – icy. tasty. check. – and the Super Burrito which really is deserving of its heroic name because the veggie bean chili and cilantro brown rice blend totally saved my mouth’s day.(I’m sorry I don’t have a better super hero reference, action movies really aren’t my jam.) I love this neighborhood, and this eclectic little place adds so much. * This was one of my first CDs, so I was delighted to hear it playing…10 years later

I went to Anodyne with a friend on a Saturday morning following a hot yoga session. The mural on the outside was rad, and there were people sitting on the patio which seemed promising. Once inside, I was further pleased: a long, cool metallic table, the room scattered with laptops in front of coffee-weilding squinters, a few groups chatting quietly, an array of baked goods(including a vegan bread that I didn’t try, but salivated over), and cheerful faces ready to take my order(no line!). I had a cold pressed coffee with almond milk(I believe they also offer soy) and ordered a vegan breakfast burrito. The coffee was good, sharp, but the burrito was just-okay. I’d rather go back for more coffee, maybe a baked treat, and the atmosphere. It’s a great spot in an awesome neighborhood.

Real food options: check(good ones, not just coffee shop pastries — altho they’re here too) free wifi: check, fast too. Different coffee options: check(they have seasonal options on the board) Almond and soy milk options: check Not pretentious: check, definitely a good community vibe Good Space for Reading: check Good space for laptop work: check; community table, couches, individual table. Friendly staff: check I wanted to check out something different, other than my usual Spyhouse and Common Roots. In S. Minneapolis close to 35W, bus routes, and biking for you summer folks(or diehard winter bikers). Grabbed an Iced Almond milk Toddy Mocha Latte(it’s sunday, let me treat myself, jeez). I learned a toddy is cold press coffee, small size = $ 4.80 inc. tax; worth it.

The coffee isn’t awesome. But basically everything else is. I walked in right around 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning and ordered the much-Yelp’d-about Anodyne oatmeal and a cup of coffee. The oatmeal is prepared with apple cider, and includes wild rice, pears, cranberries, raisins, and pecans, and it really is delicious. A little splash of cream and brown sugar, and it was the perfect breakfast for a cold January day. The coffee isn’t the strong suit at this coffee shop, at least in my opinion. It tasted burned(strange, since I was the first one in the place right after they opened) and necessitated a little doctoring with milk and ½ & ½(not my usual habit). But, sometimes you just need a cup to go along with breakfast or to help out with a marathon study session, and it’ll do the trick. The space itself is really nice — lots of seating space with small tables scattered throughout, a large central table, and a few couches and armchairs. As the morning progressed, neighborhood residents trickled in to brunch with friends or peruse the newspaper… really relaxed, casual, comfortable feeling. They also offer a variety of vegan-friendly and gluten-free baked goods and seem flexible to cater to a variety of dietary requests, which is always a plus in my book.

Any coffeehouse that has multiple big squishy chairs and couches gets an A in my book. I didn’t have time to stay in when I stopped in to grab my coffee but this is definitely a place I could see myself hanging out. The staff was super friendly, patiently helping me pick out something to try since it was my first time in here. The baked goods(including traditional cake donuts) looked wonderful but I could not bring myself to have any since I was on my way to a very unhealthy lunch. I had the honey bear. Chocolate, honey and cinnamon in a latte. It was tasty but to be honest I couldn’t taste anything but the coffee and chocolate. There was nothing spectacular about it. The price was actually pretty decent which surprised me. I find independent coffee shops tend to be pricey. I would like to come back and do some reading and try some of the breakfast plates or baked goods. The place smelled wonderful between the coffee and the kitchen. Loved that they had Sebastian Joe’s ice cream too.

I love the vintage antique smörgåsbord decorating of this joint(go figure, I have a love affair with Chatterbox for this very reason). The hip thing is to be eco-friendly, but this place is legit. Anodyne boasts a compost bin, encouraging customers to use dishes, and a small garden outside of their shop. I have to say, the Nicollet Ave Pothole ice cream, chocolate with drops of fudge, chunks of toffee, and sea salt was amazing! I can see why it’s a fan favorite. This lovely creation is brought to us by Sebastian Joe’s, a local ice cream connisseur. I may have to venture to their shop soon!

A List of Things I Like About Anodyne 1. Kick ass recommendations by the staff. They managed to narrow down my «Tell me what’s awesome» request to exactly what I was looking for, in drink form– turned out to be a Honeybear, a kind of hot chocolate meets honey meets cinnamon explosion of delicious. I didn’t even know I wanted that. 2. Great scene. Lots of local folks of all ages, NOT camped out at laptops but actually talking to each other or reading REALPAPER newspapers and books.(Time warp noise) 3. Great location. It’s within biking distance of preeeettty much everything in Minneapolis, especially handsome manfriend’s house! Sha-zam!

Perfect for catching up or studying, lots of table space, love the huge communal table in the middle. Menu looks awesome, lots of natural and healthy choices plus the range of sugar rush bakery items. Had the Chai Latte, very mild not sugary or cinnamon-y like most places. Also had an oatmeal cookies, sooo good! At 8:30 pm at night still tasted fresh, not dry or overly chewy. Definitely new favorite study spot.
