Can I give Avant six stars?
I can easily say, without exaggeration or hyperbole, that Erika gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had.
The salon itself is clean, chic, and comfortable. Every person with whom I’ve interacted is informed, engaging, and quite pleasant. I’m a huge fan.

It was my first time at Avant and I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was provided with excellent service. From someone offering to take my coat and being offered a beverage while I waited in the comfy waiting area to the attention to detail my brow artist (Erin) showed, I can honestly say I’ve not had a better eyebrow experience anywhere else. The atmosphere was also great and you can’t beat the location. I’ll definitely be returning!

Your service at this salon largely depends on who you get. I had a great haircut that cost a fortune — and then opted for a less expensive stylist at my next visit.
I walked in with my short hair coiffed perfectly and left looking like a drowned rat. Too much oil and product in my very fine hair. The stylist gave a good cut, but knew nothing of styling short hair. She even left me partially wet. Going back to the office afterwards was a huge embarrassment. I have not returned for more services.
If you go to this salon — pay for a more experienced stylist. It’s worth it. Oh, and give yourself plenty of time. They take a full hour + for haircuts.

Great haircut. I was welcomed with a friendly smile and offered a coffee. The wait was not long for the hairdresser «Steve», who did a fantastic job. It has been a while since a hairdresser has spent so much time (in a good way) cutting my hair. To make the experience better, I received a head massage to start and a shampoo to end. Great haircut experience!

I finally decided that I could not stand another day without a haircut. I called Avant and they were able to schedule an appointment for me that day! The staff were very friendly and my stylist, Leah, colored and cut my hair the way I asked her too! This location is also very convenient for those who work downtown Minneapolis because it is located in the skyway in the Lasalle Building.

Love this salon. I’ve been here twice in 2 days. I went to Steve for a cut and style and he was fantastic. I went Lo for my wash and blow out and she did a great job.

This salon creates such a luxe experience! My hairstylist, Mo, has worked with me for some time now and every time I go in she brings her creativity to the table and I always walk out happy! I would recommend this if you are looking for a full experience, from the refreshments to the hot towel massages :) Big thumbs up!

I found myself in need of a cut while visiting Minneapolis. Found Avant with an Internet search and they were able to accommodate me later that same day! I had to do a little searching through the Sky ways, but that’s because I’m still learning to navigate the Sky ways! Avant is in the LeSalle Building.
Once I arrived I was given the «cover» and was shown to a changing room so that I could replace my sweater and shirt with the cover and keep hair clippings from getting all over. Nice touch!
Once «covered» I was offered a drink (several choices) and I selected the tea because someone in an earlier review said it was good. It is NOT, unless you are perhaps some type of special tea connoisseur maybe. Just go with water!
Gretchen was my stylist and she was most pleasant and professional! Avant starts you with a consultation on your cut and preferences and then you get a scalp massage, which is most refreshing! Then the wash and an excellent cut! I was very pleased with the result and the price! They do have a tiered pricing system (see website:
), so depending upon your services and the cut, your price may vary. You are supposed to find out the price in the complimentary consultation before you get started.
Great service, great stylist — it’s most likely that I’ll be back (but I won’t get that tea).
One note — they use Aveda products; good quality.

First off, Erika is amazing. She totally understood how to cut my hair so it didn’t just look like a wavy bubble on top of my head. And she was very precise with my bangs — I’ve already received tons of compliments on them. My new eyebrow shape is awesome too. I can’t say enough good things about the service I got at Avant. I’m really looking forward to my cut and color in September!

Avant… hair experts absolutely… but that’s just part of it. It’s a relaxing place because everyone wants to be there. The owners Mick and Tom have created a unique environment for their employees and their clients. I’m not talking about the décor (although it’s wonderful) I’m not talking about the products (top of the line mind you) I’m talking about how they treat people — the way they would want to be treated. That combined with a staff of hair experts who will give you exactly what you want or something new and fabulous… I suggest you let them lead, sit back and enjoy…

I guess the world doesn’t need the fourth five-​star review to know this is a great salon…
I LOVE Avant. You feel like a queen from the minute you enter. They treat you to whatever drink you like, may I suggest Aveda’s signiture tea, you then go tot eh changing room where you get to wear one of their warm gowns…
When you get in the chair you are met with a head and neck massage (HUGE BONUS) and then the sweet smells of Aveda creep into your nostrils as you enter the journey of getting the perfect haircut.
I couldnt ask for a better pampering… My stylist is Laura and she is super!

So yeah, I like my haircut. But for the rambunctious mop of pubic hair that lives above my face that’s not saying much– it will be styled by no human hand. Just gets a few inches shorter and goes about its business. What blew off these unsuspecting bobby socks was the massage. Scalp, neck, back, and self esteem. Delish.

Without a doubt the best salon in the Twin Cities. I have been going to Avant for over 9 years and have never had a bad experience. From the top down Avant is the definition of relationship based customer service… they make you feel like a member of the family every time you walk in.

If you park in Ramp A, chances are you will have seen this salon while you power walk to and from work. Initially I was impressed with the sleek modern ambiance and the fact that they sold Aveda products. I hadn’t had a haircut since September and since my hair is short I usually can get by with just routinely hacking away at it myself. However it was getting way too party in the back for my tastes so I finally sucked it up and made an appointment. I was able to secure an appointment within the week. The service was very friendly, my stylist Becca was super nice and did an absolutely fantastic job. I basically pointed at a picture in Vogue and grunted «I want» and magically half an hour later I had the exact haircut.
Pros: Super nice, Not pretentious, tiered pricing, aveda products
Cons: I guess parking might be a pain if you don’t work in downtown
