Went here with my dad and a few friends after the Vikings game. The atmosphere was pretty cool and its a pretty spacious building. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was very good. the waiter was friendly and on time. I would definitely come back. only complaint was that fries were not included in the orders and each person had to pay extra if they wanted fries with their burger or sandwich

I. Love. Blarneys. They have the best, friendliest staff. They always answer my stupid questions about the drinks in a friendly way and provide fast service. There’s always good food and drink deals, and everything is reasonably priced. Definitely my favorite place in Dinky.

Sat down for 8 minutes on a Saturday at noon. No one greeted us, acknowledged us, bar tender was on the phone. Got up, left. What’s worse is there was maybe 2 tables with people in the whole place.

Dined here for lunch today with a 8 group of coworkers and it took FOR-EV-ER. The food was okay, nothing too special. Buffalo chicken mac and cheese was good, but needed more buffalo/pepper/something. I also thought it was weird that my salad did not come out before the entrée. The Hanger was growing by the minute while waiting 30+ mins for food. It was also a struggle to get our checks and pay the bill. I must say, it was painful to watch a single waitress deal with the lunch rush and tend bar. Management: if you’re going to have one waitress on for lunch, at least schedule a bartender to help her out! Doubt I will be back.

Decent food, mediocre drinks; this place left a lot to be desired. Casual atmosphere. I went during the day, so maybe the night scene is better but I was not impressed. If you’re looking for quick bar food, it will suffice, but beyond that, I would not recommend it.

Blarns is the best. And Peyton is the best. Reuben poppers are seriously ridiculous. In an awesome way. Love the new carpet. Way to go.

Meh. Eh. Okay. I’ve been here a few times during the day for beers and snacks. One thing that is consistent– adorable girls who are the worlds slowest servers. Painfully slow at times. I like attractive people as much as the next person but hate waiting unreasonably long for service. At no point should it take 25 minutes to get a beer because«the machine(computer) isn’t working.» Or 30+ minutes to get a bill even after being asked three times. The food is okay. I’ve tried a couple salads, a burger and their chicken strips. All acceptable, not exceptional in any way. They do have a nice selection of brews on tap– at least for my simple tastes. Overall, if you’re in dinkytown, this is probably a pass unless you’ve got some serious time to commit.

The fish and chips and cheezy fries are pretty good, especially for a bar setting. This is considered the«expensive» bar in Dinkytown, meaning that actual drinks and shots might be around $ 5 – 6 not on special. It’s also the last stop for the«Dinkytown Loop» meaning that it doesn’t get very busy until after midnight, and in a matter of 15 – 30 minutes goes from calm to chaotic. If you don’t like large crowds, this is not the place to go after 12:30am. The specials are pretty good, with limited drinks around $ 3 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Also, ladies drink for free between 11pm and midnight on Wednesdays. This, on a weekly basis, results in at least a two-to-one gal to guy ratio. However, I have yet to see it bring in much of a crowd. Also a fair warning, there is a $ 5 minimum on cards. Final note, try a Blarney shot sometime. It’ll be worth a try.

Horrible service not forgiven by the horrible food. The beer was FLAT. The food took WAY too long to find it’s way out and when it did, it was unedible by 2 out of 4 people in our family. Unacceptable.

Not good. Rude staff, gross food. Smells of puke even in the day time. Not even an Irish bad in my humble opinion. Idk use be an okay place but the last time I was there u was very irritated with the staff. Remember you work in the service industry, if you can’t deal with people get another job!!!

Day drinking on game day has never been better. Seriously, this place has a fantastic front porch and drinks are dirt cheap. Don’t come here expecting a fine dining experience, it’s just not that kind of place. Do come with a big appetite and make sure you are thirsty!

Our soccer team went here after a Thursday night game. The place was pretty empty because it was during the U of M’s spring break. Our experience started with the server spilling a tray full of waters on one of the girls in our group and it never improved from there. The food was so-so, the beer was overpriced, and the worst part of it all came when we got the bill. The server said we could only split the bill into 2 checks(among 9 people). Since we were a large group we tried to be accommodating and agreed to that. However, when we received the checks, rather than splitting the items among the people at the table, every item was split in half(i.e. my $ 5 dollar beer was represented as $ 2.50 on both checks, my $ 8.25 quesadilla was represented as $ 4.13 on both checks, etc.). Basically, the split checks were helpful to no one since we were trying to pay in pairs and individually(in my opinion, 4 checks among 9 people is not an unreasonable request considering how empty the place was). Anyway, we ended up asking the server to put the checks back together because it actually made it more difficult to account for everyone’s portion. The hardest thing to swallow was the flat rate gratuity on the entire bill. The service absolutely sucked, but since we had gotten a couple of expensive pitchers the server ended up getting a $ 40 tip. Bottom line, unless you’re a college student here for cheap drinks, this place is AWFUL. The saving grace was the good company I was with. We were all able to laugh at the experience.

Not only is this place disgusting, but when I was in college and WAS21, the bouncer took my ID and denied my entrance saying that it wasn’t me. It looked exactly like me but he claimed that«People come in here with their sister’s IDs all the time.» I had to call the police and have them come and make him give me my ID back. Better yet, he took my friend’s ID too, whose WAS fake, and he later gave it back to her because she flirted with him. All class, Blarney.

I went here for a pre-Varsity dinner on a Sunday evening. I liked the comfy couches. They also had the windows open which was nice and provided a unique view and breeze which seems to be lacking at other Irish bars around the Twin Cities. The service was fair.(I think they might have been understaffed.) Their selection of cider is lacking(Strongbow and Angry Orchard are your choices). I had the fish and chips. The food was alright. The fries seemed a bit bland but they were still good. I couldn’t eat my last piece of fish because I was so stuffed. I might return here for breakfast if I’m in the Dinkytown area. I wasn’t here late at night so I can’t vouch for the John Belushi-ness of U of M college students possibly getting out of control at this place.

They don’t call it «Blackout Blarnz» for nothing… Blarney is the place where everyone in Dinkytown ends up after drinking way too much with their friends. The atmosphere is quite lively due to the fact that half of the people there after 12AM are close to blackout. My friends and I refer to it as «Blackout Blarney» because, well, that’s why people go here. I suggest spending your time downstairs in the«taproom» on a weekend night. It is not quite as crowded and it will take you about half the time to get a drink as it would at the main bar. It’s a fun atmosphere for a college student, but if you’re looking for a classy establishment, I would not stop here.

Blarney, Blarney, Blarney… What can I say(/remember) of Blarney… Blarney is the typical college bar, and the bar that I always somehow end up at by 1:30AM every weekend night. It’s disgusting, yeah, but it’s also fun when you’re incredibly drunk. The much revered«Blarney shot» is a mix of crew de menthe, Baileys, and more gut-rotting liquors… But you should probably experience it at least once if you’re a Minnesota student. Shots are expensive but rails and non craft beers are reasonable, even on weekends. Food… I’d pass on. I had the patty melt one time after a football game… Thought it was amazing. Then I had it sober and it wasn’t. That’s what alcohol will do to your taste, I guess. Although Mesa is still good sober. Go to Blarney on the weekend if you’re a college student for the typical college experience. You only have four years to be this ridiculous… And it’s always super fun talking for an hour about who knows what with people you hardly know and then seeing them in class the next day. One thing I’m PISSED about… they got rid of Sunday bottomless mimosas. There was seriously no better way to avoid Sunday homework than sitting on their patio and getting drunk off pitchers of cheap champagne and OJ. Bring ‘em back, Blarnz! LONGLIVEBLARNEY! Kidding… kinda.

When I order a Juicy Lucy, I expect there to be cheese in the middle… Just not so! The cut was made in the burger for the spot where the cheese was SUPPOSED to be, and it wasn’t there. So basically I paid for a Juicy Lucy and all I got was a hamburger with a hole in the middle. Not cool!

This is a review of Blarney’s Breakfast: Hungry Irishman’s Breakfast: Irish sausage, rashers(thinly sliced ham), mashed potatoes topped with eggs over easy, and your choice of white or wheat toast. Mehhh. For $ 10 it was alright. The mashed potatoes were the highlight of the meal. The Irish«banger» was was too salty, I don’t know where they get their meat but I was not a fan. I would recommend sticking with the basics, classic breakfast next time.

Since I am a college student I want to love Blarneys, but each time I go there, the only thing I am «in love» with is their cheap drinks. The main thing I do not like about it is how packed it gets on a Friday or Saturday night after about Midnight. I personally do not find pushing your way through a packed bar just use the bathroom as being fun. Even dancing kind of sticks because it is often so packed! As for people, on a Thur-Sat night, the crowd is mainly college students and is very cliquey. Full of obnoxious frat and sorority members thinking they is a big deal, but have no clue how hard reality will hit them once they graduate. Athletes beware, the place is full of jersey chasers! When I do go to Blarneys, it is for the nightlife. I have eaten at Blarneys a few times and the food has been fine, nothing to rave about.
