Presentable and clean restaurant with a friendly staff and service made for a good first impression. Menu wasn’t as comprehensive as most Mediterranean joints in the Twin Cities, but they had the basics. Ordered a Gyro sandwich with fries and was fairly surprised with both presentation and taste. Gyro was served with lots of lamb, quality tzaitki and a well made pita. Lamb could’ve been seared a bit more, although that’s my personal preference. Fries were HOT and well seasoned; think Red Robin steak fries as they’re thicker and more starchy than hand cut. Well pleased and will return when in the area.

First time falafel eater here. I stopped by this food truck at the Wayzata summer fair. They had a short menu with basically a falafel sandwich, gyro sandwich, and fries. With a name like«Falafel King» I expected some ridiculously good balls that I would end up having to seek out in the future. Unfortunately, I really wasn’t impressed. The sandwich was nothing more than three deep fried balls, white iceberg lettuce, pump tomato slices, and a barely there white runny sauce wrapped up in a soft pita. The balls were dry and not very flavorful. The sauce was non existent, I have no clue if it had flavor or not because I couldn’t find it. The rest was just a few veggies. The best part of the sandwich was the soft pita. Sure it was cheap for $ 7(by truck standards) but I have no desire to eat another falafel at this point.

Thanks for the overpriced, mediocre, meager falafel balls(3). Prices went through the roof at the new Calhoun location. You understand you are in a strip mall serving ground up chick peas, correct?

I always loved Falafel King and now that I can walk there I’m even happier! Their fries are probably my favorite in the cities, always fresh and hot! On my most recent visit I had the kofta and it was moist and delicious. I got plenty of salad as well so I’m not sure what other people are complaining about but maybe it was a bad day. I will probably be spending too much money here now!

Unfortunately, this was our worst Middle Eastern experience in the Twin Cities so far. The kofta was made of low quality meat and the chicken was dry, stringy, and gross. The falafel was sub-par. It is quite unfortunate. The server was really polite and cool, but the food just wasn’t good.

I have been wanting to go to Falafel King for awhile –now I can say – been there, done that! It really is the«fast food» of this cuisine. It satisfied the flavor and the Falafel was tasty but very crunchy and a little greasy – The hummus was good —and the Gyro meat was probably the worst I have ever had. I really love this type of food and would love to eat it at least once a week but it won’t be from Falafel King as I did not feel well after gobbling this down for the rest of the night. It was very heavy with grease and just did not sit right.

This place is great! I’ve been here with friends a handful of times, and each time the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The food is pretty good, especially the gyro; I highly recommend it. The fries are average, but not bad. Definitely a good choice if you’re looking for good, relatively cheap Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food!

Nice waiter. Food not fresh. Greek salad small and anemic. Is lettuce really that precious? Falafels better at Mim’s in St Paul. PS my husband became ill 12 hrs after the visit. thanks~
