Gamestop is a chain, so the best way to review a chain is by the service. I have never had a problem with the guys here. They are usually informative and helpful. Gamers helping gamers. That’s what it’s all about. I like the used games and that is what I usually buy now days. I just picked up a used Bioshock 2 for $ 9. I couldn’t believe that price either.

I’m a firm believer that today’s video gaming systems and games were actually created for my generation and not for the current twenty-somethings and teenagers. After all, if my generation hadn’t been so demanding, we’d still all be playing Pac-Man with rickety old controllers in our buddy’s basement between chomps of pizza rolls fresh out of the oven and not the microwave. That being said, the bright young men and women at my local Gamestop, are so old school in the new generation, it’s cool. They know exactly what I’m talking about when I bring up that I’m looking for a game to play today that resembles one from the mid 90’s that I would like. But, located in the strip mall portion of what formerly used to be known as Apache Plaza, is a little video game retailer that I would rather frequent to purchase my systems and games from over the Wal-Mart next door called GAMESTOP. Yes, they are a national chain, and yes, the same stuff should be available in all stores, and — if it isn’t, they’ll call around for you to find what you need. I’ve been shopping here since date of open a few years back, and although the games and systems and some of the staff have changed over the last couple of years, the knowledge and the customer service hasn’t. As mentioned above, these guys know games. I can bring up a game for an extinct gaming system, and these guys will find me something that I might enjoy playing on my brand new X-Box. They know what’s coming out when, how it’s played, who the makers are, what kind of game it is and whether or not my RPG favoring self might like the game. And, all I have to do is just show up. The staff is more than willing to share any and all information about everything in the store and then some. They will let you know if you may or may not need add-ons or if you need a hard drive or extra storage. As with all locations of Gamestop, you will find gaming systems and the games to go with them in new or used or refurbished condition. The staff will treat you honestly and respectfully when you trade systems and games in, and they always let you know what the better deal is — store credit or cash back. They are obviously there to make a buck as well, so expect up selling to happen, but they will stop when you say no. They never push past what you’re looking for at the moment, and will always let you know that if you need answers to any of your gaming needs, they’re there. They want you to come back, and it shows. The only particular cons that I have with this location is that it’s small and parking can be touchy especially with all of the other big name stores that share the location. Pricing can be well… pricey. You’re not going in to buy a toaster, and game systems aren’t exactly not expensive. The game prices for new games can be $ 19.99 and up, but they also have used games for as low as $ 1.99. The staff is always courteous and helpful, and will be happy to answer any questions you have about return policies — or well, anything in general. Anyway — good location, great staff and fun fun await those who shop at the Silver Lake Road(aka 39th Avenue) location of Gamestop. PROS: Very very knowledgeable and helpful staff, open 7 days a week until the late evenings, and large selection of new and used gaming gear and stuff! CONS: teeny location, parking can be trying on busy days of the week — weekends.
