Me, at 3 a.m.: «Praised be for the Lyndale Deli!» Me, at 11 a. m the next day: «Praised be for this half-eaten gyro carcass in my fridge!» I usually go for the gyro sandwich and fries, or if I’m feeling extra lactose tolerant, I’ll go for the cheese curds and eat them all myself. Every neighborhood needs at least one solid late-night gyro + cheese curds purveyor, and I’m glad this is here. It’s not like it’s going to be a perfect experience every time, but it’s a solid, cheap place to grease your stomach up before bedtime. I’ve never been here before 1 a.m. and that’s the way I like it.

I live within walking distance of the Lyndale Grocery… it’s nice to know that if I don’t feel like cooking or going to a restaurant, I can get some cheap, quality eats at this fine establishment. I’ve been here a few times since moving to the Twin Cities a month ago, and I always get the same thing — the Gyro Special(includes fries and a can of soda with the gyro for under 6 bucks). The gyro is always great, and even better as leftovers! Service isn’t overwhelming or anything, but who cares when you’re just getting takeout.

I stopped in for a gyro plate after a night at the Bulldog, next door. The plate was $ 7.49 and came with pita bread, a good amount of gyro meat, salad with feta, and a plate of hummus and rice or fries. I got the fries and they were average. The gyro wasn’t the best that I’ve ever had, but it was good. The pita bread wasn’t cooked, so it tasted a little dry. The guy running the place was pretty friendly. I seems like a lot of places that cater to the after bar crowd have horrible customer service skills, but this guy was alright. Maybe the drunk crowd uptown isn’t as annoying as the downtown crowd. I would have given the place 4 stars, but they lose a point for not having a public restroom. I could understand if they were just a convenient store, but if you sell food and have a sit down restaurant, you should probably have a public restroom.

This place depresses me. It’s slightly grimy and cramped, the service is slow, and a tv blaring Lebanese news is smack center in the eating area of the joint. I had their falafel and pita appetizer($ 4.84 with tax), which came with hummus; the falafel was decent, but the hummus was below-average(where was the garlic?). I wasn’t sure why it took 10 minutes to make the falafel, which felt like an excruciatingly long wait in those bleak environs. It’s a shade more expensive than Falafel King and the portion size was slightly too large; I would have liked two fewer falafel patties and a 50-cent discount on the price. I didn’t appreciate that everything was served in a styrofoam container. I would recommend this joint for a cheap lunch or for a late-night snack, but only for take-out, and only if you can’t find anything else.

I was passing through town and our gracious host took us here. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. The portions are huge so I deem the experience worth the money.

My neighborhood hot spot for Red Bull and Falafel. Their food is decent, they have the standard gyros you find in a lot of places like this. The owners are really nice and get to know you quick if you happen to become a regular. Also a decent selection of groceries, but be sure to check the dates!
