Checked out their website found out they were going to the Garlic festival which happened to be on the same day we where headed home. So we went to the festival and hunted down this bus. It is not hard to find it is large and purple. we got the beet infused hot dog also purple and enjoyed every bite. I think we will be checking out their web site again to find them and drop by next time we are in town.

Magic Bus Café has made all of my childhood dreams come true. Essentially, it is a groovy purple school bus that you can dine in, with a super friendly lady taking your order, and other friendly people preparing and serving hot dogs(or tofu dogs) with an amazing combination of toppings. I got the Peace Frog Dog with cucumbers, onions and tomatoes on top. I can’t say I was in love, but it was still darn good and the hot dog itself was delicious. I definitely want to go back and try the other dog combos… they all sounded so good!

Tofu pups!!! This place rocks. They have all sorts of different variations on the hot dog, all of which are available as a regular dog or a tofu dog. I had the Buffalo Springfield(did I mention there’s a hippie theme?) which had buffalo sauce, bleu cheese crumbles, and celery… MMMM! It was quite delicious. My companion had a breakfast dog, with eggs, cheese and bacon on it, which he raved about as well. We found Magic Bus Café at the Northrup King building in NE last weekend for Art Attack, but I haven’t seen them in the area before. So happy we encountered them! Fortunately their website has a «where’s the bus?» function, so next time I get a craving for another dog I’ll be able to locate them. You can also sit on the bus if it’s chilly(or if you want to stare at photos of the owners with various rock legends, like Bonnie Raitt). Not to be confused with the Magic Schoolbus and that crazy Ms. Frizzle.

Let me preface this by saying — I don’t like hot dogs. But holy cow — go check out the magic bus café — their hot dogs are on time! I split one with my friend — the one with the curry relish — wow. That’s all I got to say. The inside is decorated in a super cute diner type theme and you can«eat-in» the bus. Super friendly owners, etc. Definitely worth checkin’ it out. Oh — they also have tofu dogs if you lean that way.

Don’t let the big purple bus fool you, this is a fabulous hot dog stand with very tasty dogs dressed up with truly unique toppings. The 100% pure beef dogs are pan fried(not boiled or grilled) which is great because it adds a wonderful sweet crispiness. Since husband and I were at the farmers market early in the morning, we ordered the«Meet Me in the Morning Dog» which was a split hot dog in a bun with scrambled eggs, pieces of bacon and cheese. A little hot sauce finished it off perfectly. For $ 5 it was a great breakfast. We definitely have to go back for the more unique toppings including the mango-curry chutney, adzuki bean chili, and garlic beet sauerkraut. Oh yeah and head inside the bus for comfy seating(there are two booths inside) and lots of great 60s/70s photos throughout. Plus, you can chat with the owners who are all very nice.
