We like this neighborhood place. Pizza is great and restaurant has a cozy vibe. We like Punch too but we go here to avoid the crowds when we feel like pizza during prime time hours. Limited menu but you can find something you will like,

The pizza tastes great, the atmosphere is quaint, but the terrible turtle bread co ownership runs too deep at this place. My wife went to order a gluten free pizza, which is on the menu and she’s ordered it before. After we place our order, the server tells us they don’t have gluten free dough left. He explained that even though it’s on the menu, the owners have a terrible system in place, and sometimes the have it, sometimes they don’t. Say what? That’s a game changer so we had to walk out. The poor server was stuck covering up for management. Another time they screwed up my to go order, and man who I assumed was the owner was yelling at his employees in front of the customers. There is a sense that all the employees are tense working for the owners.

I live in the neighborhood and have been here at least 15 times. The pizza is killer. Not the buried in cheese or smothered in sauce variety. If you really like Pizza Hut or Papa John’s(awful), then this isn’t for you. The beer and wine selection are perfect. Great low key romantic spot.

delicious pizza, bottled beer only but the pizza makes up for it.

This IS an amazing creative, high quality pizza restaurant. I got the sense it is either co-owned or very cooperative with Turtle Bread right next door. The PB guests use TB’s restrooms. I luv thin crusted pizzas and these are the best I’ve had in a decade. Fantastic toppings that combine unbelievable ingredients such as a pickled-ginger hot pepper, grapes on others, and herbs, cheeses galore. Good sized salads that are also creative. They have about 12 outdoor tables. My only critique is I wish its house wine was cheaper. I’ll definitely return !

Genius, genius, genius. This place is amazing. I loved it. My girl and I were trying to decide where to go for an evening of good food and fun, it was either pizza, sushi, or mexican. We killed the latter two options by reading some Unilocal reviews of what was in the area. At the time we were situated far South, for I am dogsititng, and she had mentioned, while taking Metro Transit, this little pizza place-Pizza Biga, that she had seen along the way. I went here( ) to investigate, and immediately fell in love with the layout of the site, and the simplicity of the menu. This was looking good. I saw the Winter Special(buy 1 pizza and get another free, 8pm-close) and we were walking. Such a good deal, 2 for 1 pizzas, I thought even if the pizza was shit we would have a lot of pizza to eat. Keep in mind, I had been eating pizza since Monday, so I was kind of jonesing, and Heggie’s Pizza, although good, has a toxicity level that I was bordering. So we had to get out. I thought 2 pizzas for around $ 13, that’s like $ 7’s a pizza, thats less expensive than say Dominos, maybe even Topper’s(but probably not). This is awesome. When we got there we noticed the place is literally a whole in the wall, which I greatly enjoy. Great décor, art hanging all over the place, nice spacing, not cramped. This was a really good use of space. They were working it.(If you can make a small place like this happen then you are intelligent.) We went in, were seated, and ordered. We had some drinks(they have a nice beer selection) and 2 pizzas. I server was attentive and helpful. There was a pretty decent crowd and the atmosphere was celebratory. We mentioned the Winter Special, he said they did that cause they had been dead after 8pm. It was after 8pm and they were not dead now. Good idea. We had 2 epic wood fired pizzas: 1 which was one of the best pizzas I have had, Dan’s Balsamic, and a second which was almost as good, but the first was incredible, The Fresh Mozzarella. The quality was amazing, the pizza was done right. The beer was good. The service was great. The price wasn’t expensive. I will be going back. My lady was like, «This isn’t that far from NE.», as if we would be coming back soon. I think we will. Check it out. Don’t shy away from quality pizza and good deals.

Oh sad day… We were starving(maybe bordering on «hangry» –hungry-angry) and exhausted last night after a 5 hour trip home. I called up pizza biga to order two pizzas to go ASAP. I think I was polite and friendly on the phone, and thanked the person for being willing to have the pizzas ready really fast. The hubs went to pick them up immediately. When he got home, we opened the two boxes. I got the Dan’s Balsamic, it looked a bit greasy but otherwise good. My husband got a sausage pizza which literally had only 6 tiny pieces of sausage. Like probably less than 3 tablespoons of meat. You really would have thought it was a cheese pizza they had accidentally dropped a bit of meat on while making another pizza. It was also soggy with grease…(I’m posting a pic if I can figure out how to do it.) It was the saddest looking pizza I have ever seen. Note that these two single serving pizzas cost more than a large pizza at many other local pizza places… and the sausage pizza costs the same as Dan’s Balsamic, which seems odd… So, we called to speak with someone and ask what could be done. My husband was polite but animated and told the woman on the phone why he was disappointed in his pizza. And she started laughing! So he asked to speak to the manager, which made her laugh harder. She claimed she was the manager. He asked her to stop laughing and stressed that he was pretty unhappy… she offered him a gift card, but she was still laughing as she said it. He was so offended, he pretty much said he was never coming back and hung up the phone… What the heck??? Who laughs when a customer calls with a complaint? I previously had pretty positive feelings about this place, but after this experience we won’t be going back to Pizza Biga or Turtle Bread, because they’re attached… They get two stars instead of one because I do admittedly like the Dan’s Balsamic pizza…

I like this place a lot. Yummy selections of pizza and salads, love the beet salad especially. Great staff, relaxed atmosphere. Just a nice little place, next door to Turtle Bread. Had one of the most lovely red wines here too.(had to write down the name).

Don’t go here if you like good service. Go here if you have great company and want a delicious wood fired pizza. While I know two stars are harsh, truthfully you can get just as delicious pizza at many other places in the cities with servers that acknowledge you and earn their tip. I may be somewhat picky about the service I receive at restaurants(a smile, waters before 30 minutes and info about the menu too much to ask?), but I am a paying customer and if all you are going to do is simply take my order, I could punch it in the computer myself and save my 20% tip. I’m not even a high-maintenance diner. Okay, while this sounds horrible, it wasn’t horrible. I had a great time with delicious pizza and tasty wine. I had the macerated mozzarella and sampled the pepperoni and white pizza from my dinner mates. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Keep in mind, this was just the night I went in. I could tell it was just an off night for the server and for all I know she was working alone because someone didn’t show up for work. Hoping for a review update in the future.

Great pizza, quality ingredients, friendly service… and right next to a bakery(Turtle Bread Company) or one of the best ice cream shops(Pumphouse Creamery) in Minneapolis for dessert!

P has been talking a lot about pizza especially a place in San Francisco. So it was no surprise he wanted to go to a pizza place for his bday dinner. He wanted to come to Biga. And I am glad he did. I ordered the margherita pizza and small beet salad. First of all small is not a word I would use. The salad was really tasty(I am a sucker for beets) and the pizza was very good. I love how pizza is on a wood fire. P ordered the mushroom pizza. The portabellos on the pizza were fantastic. Overall we really enjoyed our meal.

Fantastic date night location! Pizza Biga has a limited menu, but everything on it is delicious. The wine list is short as well but very reasonably priced($ 5−7/glass). Prices for a meal are good as well– about $ 12−15/person. I suggest sharing a pizza and salad with someone. The location is connected with the neighboring bakery, so if you want dessert I suggest heading over there for a slice of cake or pie.

Stopped in last night, late. and we were pleasantly surprised that they were still willing to serve us. I ordered the mushroom pizza with portabellas, parmesan, onions, and goat cheese(no sauce). The parmesan really came out, it was nicely salted and there was a nice amount of it and the goat cheese. crust was great also. It was quite nice to be honest. the pizza’s are larger than i expected, i could have split it, my boyfriend could have ate all of his. Prices were so so, $ 11 – 13 per pie. and the service was iffy. but it was late and they were willing to feed me so i wasn’t complaining.

Whenever I go home to visit, my Mom and I try to stop in at Pizza Biga for a light dinner. The white pizza paired with their arugula salad(made with the sweetest, lightest balsamic I’ve ever ever ever tasted) makes for a perfect meal for two. I’m sure I could throw down a whole pizza by myself… but I’d prefer to grab a dessert from Turtle Bread instead. It’s never too busy here, and the waiters are always sweet. Perfect for quick get-togethers and casual dates.

I agree with Karen S, this is a great neighborhood spot. I haven’t been in a while, but there was a time when I ventured here quite often. Good, fresh pizzas that are appropriate for one, but if you’re not that hungry, you can split. A nice little annex of Turtle Bread as well. Get a pastry there for dessert!!!

Good neighborhood joint. For such a small place, it has a good wine/beer list. Their pizza options are pretty limited, IMO, though. I think Punch has a better menu, but Biga is in my ‘hood and we can walk there in under 5 minutes.
