That’s really all you need to know to see where this is going.
How do you know that you are at a Mexi place in the Midwest? Well, their meals come with tots. TOTS. I don’t care what they call it (olé’s), it’s tots. What kind of self respecting Mexican place serve tots? Where are my tortilla chips gawddammit? I know. I am taking this way too personally, but seriously. I don’t know which is more insulting, that people consider Lee Ann Chin Asian or that this place is supposedly Tex-​Mex.
Secondly, their hot sauce even their super hot sauce is well… not hot.
However, their people are delightful and the place is clean. That’s really the one star. If your are down town and you NEED Mexican food get La Loma’s.

I love me some Potato Olé’s!

Great for salty lunch on the cheap (Taco Tuesdays!), but oh, you will probably regret it later. There’s not much ‘Tex Mex’ about fried potatoes. Plus, the jalapeño ‘hot’ sauce here has none of the punch I’ve seen from other locations. Nice staff though and they do it well, just avoid at peak times.

Reliable, tex-​mex fast food that’s a lot faster if you show up after 1:00. Come here for some potato olé’s, but beware: if you require two (or more) burritos for lunch you’ll end up looking like one.
