Simple as in no effort whatsoever. Two very good things, the guy taking the order and the big, soft, and flavorful white bread. I had a cold tuna sandwich that tasted awful, for once I was glad there wasn’t much on it and it was more like having a cheese sandwich. The clam chowder was the worst of the worst of memories out of a can. Two bites and I gave it away to my less discriminating friend. I love the location and the décor and the decorative lights are a future basement idea. It’s a handy spot for a quick bite. That’s it.

I’ve been working for my company now for 3 years connected via the skyway to The Simple Sandwich. Over the years my co-workers and I have been frequent customers and I have to say the service has greatly improved. Yesterday I went for my favorite the french dip combo with their awesome seasoned kettle chips and although they were busy, my service was polite, fast and kind. Because I’m a rewards member the girl called me by name when my meal was ready. I was a bit disappointed that the sandwich was cold and not toasted properly(cheese wasn’t melted), but usually that’s not a problem. I am giving them a 4 right now but will happily come back and change if their service and food improves. The prices are a bit high for sandwiches but arguably the best french dips in the skyway. Pro Tip: Sign up for their rewards card. It is free and keeps track of your points so you can earn a free lunch Suggestions: French Dip or Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup

try as I might to like this place(I work in the building), they just can’t get it right. Three things: 1. Yesterday the cashier tried to overcharge me(instead of combo he was billing me separately for two sandwiches, one with chips as a side, one with fruit). 2 I literally had to beg for a pickle(even though they are usually out). The staff person curtly told me I needed to ask instead of them offering(!) and was overall quite unpleasant; 3. Later, when we opened our to-go sandwiches, they added the incorrect condiment to one of them!

tl, dr Some Re-Assembly Required: The Not-So-Simple Sandwich I went back to try the Simple Sandwich again this morning for a breakfast sandwich. The egg, sausage and cheese were falling out opposite sides of the sandwich when I unwrapped it. All of these components are the same diameter and the staff can’t even stack them on top of each other? It wasn’t even busy. Once I re-assembled by sandwich, it tasted good. But I’m still annoyed at the staff and their inability to put a sandwich together.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the sandwiches are from here! They’re simple but somehow much tastier than sandwiches I attempt to make. They have a menu of sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads with combo options as well. I like to take advantage of the«build your own» option which you do via touch screen. You really have to press hard on the screen which is kind of a pain but I’m a sucker for tons and tons of toppings. My personal favorite«premade» wrap is the California wrap. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants a quick food option that isn’t your typical fast food. The ingredients are fresh and tasty! The service is usually very quick as well. Four stars due to the lack of friendliness of employees and dull atmosphere. I’d come here often though!

I work in the same building as this business. About a year ago I was swamped with meetings and ran down to get their ½ sandwich combo. When I asked the young woman for a bologna sandwich she said I can do that but will charge you for a full sized sandwich. It was not the price I had the problem with it was her attitude and eye rolling and condescending tone. I can only assume that it is the same person referenced in the other complaints. I decided that it was worth the time to just continue to frequent Allie’s Deli where they know how to treat their customers and run a business by example. Fast forward to this month, I decided to give them a second chance. Have been a few times for breakfast and every single time SHE is there along with her attitude and obvious disdain for her job. And every time I have to remind her that I wanted my milk that I had ordered. Yesterday was the final straw, ordered a denver omelet sandwich at the self-service kiosk. She came over… yes the same one short brown hair, larger framed, obviously self entitled woman in her 20’s. With a condescending tone she loudly and rudely informed me that if I was going to order that not to bother they were out. That is the straw that broke this camel’s back. I would rather starve or eat out of the vending machine in my break room than suffer your rude treatment of customers for simple food. Thanks to Allie’s I will not have to. Just a tip to the owners, go to Allie’s Deli and see how you should be training your staff because you have lost this customer forever.

The Simple Sandwich simply misfires. Employees that don’t care and food that seems prepackaged. I had a Denver breakfast sandwich when no customers were there. Service was poor and slow. The egg seemed like a frozen puck thawed out this morning. Even McDonald’s fries their own eggs. Seems like a place that has simply given up.

Their self service order kiosks never work correctly and when I have said something to the staff about it, they don’t seem to care. The staff is rude and they don’t seem to want to work. The food is okay, but not worth dealing with the rude staff. Subway is just down the skyway from them and those guys are always friendly, speedy and seem to like their jobs and the customers.

This 1 star rating is due to the service, as surly as it gets. I work in the same building and have stopped by for a breakfast or lunch item several times. Each time, I am greeted by a person who seems like they wish they were somewhere else. Today, I had the same experience, she grudgingly took my order(they must want you to use the stupid kiosk which doesn’t ever seem to work right) and proceeded to short change me 5 bucks. When I called her attention to this, she glared at me, and grudgingly handed me the five bucks back without a word no less an apology. Hey, if you hate your stupid low wage job, do the world a favor, quit and get an education so you can get a better job. Don’t take it out on people just trying to get a bite on their way to work or whatever. The food is pretty good, but the attitude of everyone that works there is toxic. Owners, your people are miserable, you need to clean house and do some training. Until you do, I will never recommend your establishment to anyone who expects to be treated as a valued customer.

It was our first endeavor to Simple Sandwich after purchasing a great deal on Groupon. We were first impressed with the idea of the kiosks to order because we’re both picky eater who appreciate being able to order what we like without annoying the waitstaff. But we then realized that we needed to order with a clerk because of our Groupon. No big deal but the issues that followeed that ensure we will not be returning. Without the Groupon, our two chicken Caesar wraps without sides or a drink rang up at over $ 12. Again, no big deal because we were excited for the fresh ingredients and large portion size. The wraps were TINY, poorly assembled and lacked in quality and taste. I found two pieces of gristle in my sandwich and the rest of the chicken was slimey at best. We actually threw away the remainder of our sandwiches and ventured to another sky way business for the reminder of our lunch. The prices, poor quality and lack of taste made our decision to support other businesses an easy one.

I have visited here twice. The egg salad sandwich is solid. Nothing is to die for and the prices seem a bit higher than they should be.

I eat here probably twice a week. It is always for a breakfast sandwich which I love. a couple items that I really like is that firstly, they have a kiosk so you can create your own sandwich. Extra cheese? sausage AND bacon on your sandwich? No problem. Secondly, they have a rewards program where you can earn points for each purchase… I better have at least two sandwich worth of points accumulated by now. The red head lady who serves breakfast in the morning is always pleasant, and works pretty hard behind the counter. One of these days I will be down there for lunch. I noticed that they have Bologna sandwiches on the menu… I love Bologna sandwiches!

I’ve trekked to Simple Sandwich few times for lunch. Pro The ordering kiosks. When ordering things like sandwich or salads, it’s nice to punch in your order, versus list off 100 items to a human Eco-friendly take out packaging Lots of topping options including cranberry horseradish, avocado, sunflower seeds PB and Jelly! Cons Quality can be spotty: I’ve had a few sandwiches come out somewhat lackluster. The cuban, for example, no es bueno Sometimes toppings or grilling option forgotten $ 3.25 for a cup of soup? It’s a pretty tiny cup They’re offering breakfast now — not sure if that’s new. I may need to check it out.

My buddy and I were out for our bi-weekly trek to a new restaurant in the Twin Cities I have walked by Simple Sandwich a hundred times now. The place has a large seating area off to the side and another area where you can order your food or use a kiosk to order and a space to prep the food. I checked out the menu online, and I knew they had a Cuban, but other than that, they don’t really show their hot sandwiches on their huge menu. I had a Living Social for $ 12, which turns out to be just about plenty, to get a combo and a small salad. The lady that took our order seemed really abrupt when she saw that we had a coupon. Again, why give out a Groupon if you are going to be huffy about taking it!?! I waited a few minutes for my Cuban and filled up my soda while I waited. The Coke Zero was all out, boo, so it was Diet Coke. I took my tray with the porky goodness to my table and opened up my small bag of kettle chips,(I would have preferred the option of baked chips) but oh well. The chips were plenty tasty though. I unwrapped the South Beach wonder and it was a lightly toasted hoagie like bun with a pickle on it and some pulled pork and ham. I got some horseradish mayo added, which didn’t really come through, but the thought was there. They added coleslaw on it as well. A first in my Cuban travels, but not offensive to the palate. Just different. A little sweetness. Could have cancelled out the horseradish. The bread was fresh and crispy, not too much butter layered on it. It was just big enough to fill you up, and not be ridiculous. For my salad, you can add a whole bunch of different toppings. I was under the gun while ordering so I just got jalapenos, mushrooms, olives, onions. They had fat-free Ranch, which I always approve of. We had another buddy join us too, and he had the made to order turkey, which he claimed was pretty good, and my normal bistro partner got the Cuban as well and liked it just fine. We all left stuffed and needed a walk back to the office. We agreed it was a solid 3 star place. Not bad, not great. Reasonably priced though, it was about $ 8 for a sandwich combo, about what you will pay downtown for a regular old Subway combo.

The name says it all! I had a rueben and it tasted just ok; the picture on the wall of this sandwich showed a grilled rueben with nicely browned toasted bread, my sandwich arrived underdone/just barely tanned and dry. The pickle that came with the sandwich was warm and limp. Not worth your money.

This place is all about fresh ingredients and sandwiches made to order. They have optional ordering kiosks too with which you ‘dial up’ all your fixings quickly and easily. I had the Chicken Caesar wrap once and that was good but typically I get different varieties of the basic sandwich depending on my mood. You can choose between different meats and a ton of different veggies and spreads. They will grill your sandwich if you want but I’ve found that it’s just a light grilling so it doesn’t really compress the sandwich into a true panino(singular of ‘panini’) or anything. The French Dip is just OK but the soups here are good, particularly the clam chowder and creamy chicken and dumpling. Overall, great place. It is overpriced: a full sandwich and a cup of soup is nearly $ 10, but it depends on how much food you require. Due to being in the downtown zone, it’s somewhat expected. If you’re OK with just a half sandwich and a side or just a full sandwich on its own, it’s reasonable. Either way, your body will probably thank you for eating something that hasn’t been fried or sitting around for hours.

This was super good! Like one of the other reviewers said it’s good because you can TASTE all the fresh ingredients! I got the California wrap which was delicious. Avocado, turkey, swiss, tomato, and sprouts. Yum! The baja chicken enchilada soup was also pretty good, but was creamier than expected. My friend also enjoyed her build your own sandwich and tomato basil soup. The best part was actually our rice krispie treat. Super marshmallow-y, try one. Warning: the woman working the register is quite neurotic. Place is cute with lots of space to eat.

Okay, I’m actually still eating the sandwich I got here as I write this… I musy say, even though it’s the same price as the Subway just down the skyway, I would MUCH rather com here! You get your choice of bread, your choice of cheese, up to 9 veggie toppings, up to 3 condiments, and then you can even get fruit, a pickle, and a drink! Something about the healthy feature of the food, as well as the freshness, and the way it tastes! I am a HUGE fan of it right now! I got a turkey and provolone on multi-grain bread with almost everything. And it tastes like a sandwich from Heaven! The girl in here when I walked in was all about explaining everything on the menu, was super friendly, and even encouraged me to use the ordering kiosk as the line was getting really long. It only took a matter of minutes to input my order, pay, and get on my way back to my desk! I can’t wait to try a salad, a wrap, and any other of the goodies that I saw on the menu there!

The sandwich shop does exactly that the title says. It’s all about the simple sandwich! The ones they make are more than just plain Jane though. The bread tastes fresh, the meat isn’t slimy, and the people are full of smiles and customer service. When you walk in, you have the option to use the computer stations to enter and pay for your order, or if you want to pay cash(or credit card via a cashier) someone up front will take your order. At first, the computer kiosks seemed ridiculous. However, now that I’ve been there during rush lunch hour, I’m convinced they save time and prevent long lines! You’re able to have white, wheat, or multi-grain bread, an assortment of meats, cheeses, and toppings. However, they don’t have any crazy combos, just a half or whole sandwich. They also have a place on the side where you can eat it away from the skyway hustle and bustle. It’s in the 5th street towers so you can usually pick up the wi-fi as well. I’ve had meetings there and it’s usually tame!
