This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis, a true treasure hidden inside the midtown global market. The flavors are bold, the portions are beyond generous, and the staff is sweeter than candied yams. I usually go for the red snapper but the jerk chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail are also outstanding.

One of the nice food stand in MGB. I ordered the combo plate with oxtail stew and sides of hush puppies and rice. The stew tasted great as well as hush puppies and rice.

I have been a fan of this place since they were located on University Avenue. Sad that they broke up. But her new location inside the global market is really nice. I am very happy for her.

Inside the Midtown Global Market lays this diamond in the rough. Good Carribean is what they’re cookin’! Great Jerk chicken, dirty rice, and greens. They could beef up the portion size though becaue the prices are a little high for a fast food/cafeteria-esque atmosphere. All in all, it’s good, and I’d eat there again. Try a Sof Drink Jamaican brand Kola Champagne. It’s good!

Delicious! My friend and I had lunch at the global market. I ordered a combo plate with oxtale stew(!) with rice and plantain. This $ 9 plate comes in a great volume as the smiley staff piles up the main and the side on your plate. The oxtale meat was so tender and well seasoned. Plantain was good, too. My friend ordered red snapper special, which was close to divine good. It was the definition of a good lunch. Wished they were in Wisconsin.

I cruised around Global market and decided on this place. The woman working was just like my Mom, sweet and happy. I ordered the Goat Roti. It took a bit– like 10 minutes– surprising as I was the only one there. I took my order to a friends house to eat. A Roti is kinda like a carribbean burrito, it’s rolled up and you just eat it out of hand. After 1 bite I hit a bone. No biggie, goats have bones right? The flavor was mild but good. By the time I had finished this meal, I honestly had more bones on my plate than a frikkin cemetery! Not just shards– I mean big bones– there was one or two the size of golf balls. How on earth can you, in good conscience, serve food like this? I wanted so badly to love this as I dig island food and soul food, but if I wasn’t paying attention, I could have gone the way of Mama Cass. I think I’ll try the Mexican Grill across the aisle– their menu looked excellent with many varieties of seafood.

I haven’t found West Indian beef pasties anywhere in the US, so I was seriously over the moon to find them here. SO good. And their greens are to die for. I wish we had something like this in Milwaukee. We really need some good soul food restaurants on the east side and downtown.
