Doc’s Q’In Pit Shop

Doc’s earns my North Carolinian seal of approval! The restaurant atmosphere, incessant use of sugar and butter, and downright delicious treatment of protein is on point with a true bbq joint! I knew as soon as I walked in that this was southern style, as it turns out the owners are from Arkansas!
Very little here is good for you, be ready for a bit of a wait as your food is prepared, and don’t bring a vegetarian here! I’d recommend ordering a plate with fixins instead of a sandwich to get a variety of flavors instead of bread and meat. Also it’d be nice if they had the sauce on the table so you could try them all!
–Sweet as pie offerings: sweet potatoes were the sweetest thing, even moreso than the mostly syrup sweet tea.
–Best saturated fat: semi solid Mac and cheese that is comfort food to the max
–Fave meat: the brisket was literally falling apart and not too lean.

Looking for good atmosphere along with good bbq. Have driven past this place in the past but never went in. This place can compete and probably the best in the Central Valley. The rib sandwich is about three ribs, but three long ribs. Plenty of ribs but cooked very nice and sauce has just the right touch. I know the flints, Everett and Jones, Woodys bbq, Old South bbq and It’s It bbq. This place is the real deal. The peach cobbler is a nice touch.

The food is AWESOME based on prior trips, but just went there at 6pm Saturday night… AND IT WAS CLOSED!!!

First off this place is a family owned small business.
The menu selections are rather limited.
I went to the bathroom and on the way I saw a server microwaving food. Not too classy.
I ordered the tri tip and it was good, but the sides weren’t good. I got green beans and they tasted like they came out of a cheap can. The red beans and rice is pretty bad as well. For the tri tip 2 sides and a drink I could never get refilled it was 17.50. The waitress wasn’t friendly either. I won’t be back.

Had the brisket and ribs with medium sauce and it was delicious. Meat fell off the bone delicious flavor. The greens were a bit spicy, but awesome. The sweet potatos were delicious. Corn bread was a bit dry. Overall, great meal!

I’m sorry but this place just lost my business. After the last time we went and sat at the table for an entire hour AFTER we placed our order… the guy finally asked us if we had ordered. We told him yes, over an hour ago. Apparently the guy that took our order was too busy blabbering and hanging out to realize he had not turned our order in! My husband was not happy and said he would not do business there again.
Fast forward to today… I’m in the mood for barbecue. My husband still refusing to eat there tells me to place an order and he will take me there to pick it up. I call, they answer, I tell them I’d like a to go order… the guy says… can someone take this order!!! He puts the phone down and there I sat for ten minutes while they banged around and talked. No one ever came to take my order. I finally hung up and called back four times to let them know they had left me on hold and the phone stayed busy. Apparently I’m still waiting to place my order and no one gives a shit.
Way to do business Docs! You just lost my business as well.

This used to be a soul food kitchen and Doc’s continues this tradition by offering some of those delights like collard greens and sweet potato pie. Doc’s is a BBQ place, if your looking for the boiled BBQ and sauce rib, you’ll find it here! Chicken, Pulled pork and a host of sides like homemade beans and potato salad to support those carnivore choices.

Customer service was great, very friendly staff. Inside is chill, old fashioned but clean. Have good flavors going. Give them credit for doing their best and have a successful restaurant, given the location. We will come back. Tri-​tip was chewy, pulled pork and ribs were yummy, chicken was tender but dry, which is fine, they use a lot of sauce. Mac and cheese is good. Baked beans are sweet.

I asked Jeremy if the chicken had been BBQ out on the grill outside and he veriied it was. However it is boiled chicken with BBQ sauce. This is not BBQ chicken. Half a chicken costs $ 12.80 and this is with no sides. Compared to other places that do real BBQ chicken this is expensive. A whole BBQ chicken is only $ 8.00 in Stockton CA and includes sides and was excellent chicken. However this chicken was like it was on a diet, not thick peices of chicken. Our dog was happy.
Truth in business is paramount.
I agree with one poster said all fake reviews here or Americans are stupid about what food is really good.

If you haven’t eaten here. You’re really missing out!!! My daughter treated me to dinner here tonight… I absolutely love this place!

We tried 4 different side dishes…
Mac n cheese, baked beans, greens and black eyed peas. They were all wonderful! We tried 2 main entrees… Pulled Pork and the Brisket with medium BBQ sauce. We couldn’t make up our minds which one was best? We’ll definitely be back soon to figure it out!

Delicious, quick, and professional! Friendly staff, great location right off the freeway! I recommend cuz I love a good bbq plate!
I got the large BBq. Rib dinner, Mac n cheese, red beans n rice. Nice presentation, mild sauce has a spicy kick ask for a sample first. Overall, on point!

I ordered the spicy sauce on ribs and chicken. It was all sooo good. Yeah the setup is a little
Unsafe lol but it is good food. I had four sides (mom and I split) and they were all solid. We ordered out and the food came quickly. We also ordered drinks and the sizes are huge! I haven’t eaten that much in a long time. So delicious!

Fantastic service and amazing food. Every one there was really friendly. I got a 2-​way combo with brisket and pulled pork and the portion was so big I didn’t even get close to finishing. The barbecue beans were amazing, they were sweet and tasted like brown sugar. I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone, you will not be disappointed going to this place.

The meat fell right off the bone of the ribs but the flavor just wasn’t that great. The tri-​tip was delicious as was the potato salad! Macaroni and cheese was also good, but the peach cobbler dessert was not up to par at all. Will come back to try the links and brisket as well as the other sides.

Came here craving some down home bbq. Walked in and not many people inside eating but that is OK. I ordered half rack of ribs, pulled pork, potato salad max and cheese and greens.
The service was great I was really indecisive and the staff gave me samples of potato salad and baked beans (both were great). I waiting only about 10 to 15 minutes for my order and while I waited they still gave me samples of things like their hot links and peach cobbler.
Got home with the feast and it was pretty good. The bbq sauces are amazing and meat was smoked to perfection. Only draw back was Mac and cheese was cold and greens weren’t cooked enough for my liking (personal preference). Other than that family loved it.

They serve a «Chicago style pulled pork» sandwich. It has delicious pulled pork (smoked right outside) with your choice of hot sauce, topped off with some house made slaw. I recommend getting the «hella hot» sauce for that delicious kick. The coleslaw gives it an elevated flavor profile due to the added texture as well as balance to the heat. Messy, yet awesome.

After a tough weekend of football, I figured some BBQ would lift my spirits. Wanted to try something new.
Picked up spare ribs, chicken, links, mac-​n-​cheese, & yams. oh yeah, and peach cobbler. Ribs and yams — very good. Chicken — the thigh was excellent, but breast meat was dry. Links — dry and skin was tough — disappointing.
Mac-​n-​cheese wasn’t anything to write home about.
Overall, I’d go back for ribs and yams… probably would’ve had better meat but it was late on Sunday afternoon.
The sauce was good, but I had mild on the meat and ordered «hot» on the side. They forgot the side order of hot bbq. Ugh.

Very good for California BBQ and it is really wood smoked. The sides are decent, but qualify as standard BBQ joint sides — not seasoned enough to be soul food.
All in all, I will eat here when Im in the area and needing good BBQ.

I had the barbecue (pulled pork) for the unwashed. Great smoky flavor.
Great sauce and the cashier is worth the trip. Lovely lady with excellent tattoos! Black eyed peas and cornbread were both superb!
