Js West Milling Company

The animals they sell here seem to be in such sad condition, not well taken care of and sometimes downright starved looking. I will not buy animals here and their tack/​pet supplies are so outrageously priced it’s annoying. Not going here, ever, ever again.

I bought wild bird seed in bulk, button quail, a lionhead rabbit and all were healthy very inexpensive and the clerks were super knowledgeable on all purchases .They are the old guard farm –family– visit– on– Saturday-​1920 originators of Modesto. Still going strong and handle small animal sales for many 4-​H kids. It’s NOT a furniture store.

Things must have changed since that other review cause we went there got 8 pullets… all are female. nice they have been very healthy and the young man was helpful and nice my husband is going back to day to get feed and see if they have any more chicks

They should be locked up. I only go here if I can’t go to Crossroads, or to Modesto Feed off of McHenry.
There animals look so beaten up… the cages are rusted, falling apart and the tight quarters for the poor animals are far beyond what is comfortable for them. It seems like they just try and squeeze as many as possible in the cage… totally wrong.
I will NOT buy animals there.
There poor chicks are sneezing and have colds.
The older chickens have their poor eyes pooked at from the tight quarters they are in… either its the owners that bring the poultry in to sell that aren’t taken care of them or its js west… but js west shouldn’t encourage it… it the poultry looks sick… DONT SELL IT!
Everyone there is helpful… dont’ get me wrong. but man its the live animal cages that definatley need fixing… The poor chickens and turkey look so sad and helpless.
The quality of there feed is great, fresh and well priced. and thats the only think I would buy there… but only if I just HAD to go there. I prefer to go to McHenry Feed or Crossroads. or even to Sonora or Stockton when I am in that area… but JS West is last on my list…
I usually write good reviews and try to be honest and promote local revenue to the town in which I live. but I prefer to not recommend this place.

My dad got a goat here for only $ 25.00. A++
Also, last time I was there one of the workers totally flirted with me and gave me a discount on what I bought, plus I got to look at all the animals, hecka fun.
