How can someone order a pie by phone and pay for it in full and when arriving to Marie Calendars to pick up this pie, the store sold it to someone else. The staff was not apologetic about this either. Not good customer service and I won’t buy my pies from this place again.

Most disappointing meal we’ve every had! Chicken was tough, vegetables cold, cobb salad wilted and nothing but lettuce. The waitress was wonderful and sweet, but the food was terrible. However, the strawberry pie was excellent.

This place has gone downhill. The set-ups were just thrown on the table, the menu had food scraps on it, and the table was dirty. The server was nice but obviously not well-trained. This was on a Saturday for lunch and there were few patrons so there is no excuse for the dirty table, etc. Food was good but the whole experience was off-putting.

Cornbread was good my server was excellent very jive and patient for us indecisive people. Kids eat free Saturday which is cool I didn’t know that. Outdoor area cute. Casual atmosphere. Ok pricing didn’t have the pot pie but maybe next time

I had an AMAZING dining experience with Dana as my server today. She was very quick on her toes and even though she was extremely busy was attentive, accommodating, and funny! It’s crazy to me that the staff gets so little help from the managers who I saw just talking and standing around while the waitstaff runs circles around them. But aside from that, my drink was never empty, my food was piping hot and delicious, and Dana was absolutely charming. Give that gal a raise! I also ordered a to go pie on my way out. I was helped by Chenee who answered all my questions and concerns like a pro. Thanks for all the help ladies! Also, that pie was so tasty I ate the whole thing and now my pants don’t fit!

I never post on Unilocal. But I really wanted to take the time to appreciate one particular employee. I ordered take out and the girl who helped me is named Melissa. She was so friendly and just over the top nice. She really understands customer service. I hope her supervisors recognize what a fantastic job she is doing!

Cobb salad with only lettuce and chicken — is not a cobb salad. The Ranch dressing was bad and the waitress was nice about it, but said they had been serving the dressing all day and no one else complained. Horrible customer service. Started to do their on line survey but not interested in ever going back so no need..

If you are having a bad day and need a pick me up… Go to Marie Calendars. The idea that this is just a pie place has been tossed out the window. This is probably the only place where you can get a 3 course meal and everything is wrapped in flakey pie crust. Go get you some American Goodness.

Waiting an hour and 15 minutes to get two meals and one meal was just a chicken salad. It was $ 40 and not even worth $ 15. The food is bland and the only good tasting thing was theccirn bread and ice tea

Good breakfast options. Always includes their bread, which is tasty. Servers have all been attentive and friendly. Nothing super fancy, but that’s not why we come here. Good food at an affordable price with quick and friendly service. Just can’t beat that.

We came for break fed and when we were seated the waitress gave us the menus, And we ask for what we wanted and she said the menu is limited since they had a buffet going at that time. And the menu if you don’t want the buffet was VERY limited. We were not happy that we would have to be forced to get the buffet if we wanted for example egg’s Benedict if I wanted that. Waitress was very cordial and no complaints. My wife and don’t do buffet’s . Never more come here for weekend buffet.

Pretty good food tonight! Their chicken pot pie is pretty tasty– not half as good as Claim Jumper in midtown Sacramento but delish all the same! Best part was bringing home the double crusted peach pie(only 7.99 I might add! Bonus!)— once we all changed into some jammies~ the whole family heated up the pie(like it was cobbler!) and piled it high with vanilla ice cream! Great way to spend some cozy family time!

Awesome! First time and it was so good! Everything was amazing from the cornbread to the cheesecake! I got a works San Francisco burger and it was really tasty, better than any dine in burger that I can remember having. My gf got chicken pot pie and she loved it as well. Can’t imagine why this place got 3 stars. They are really good. I have noticed a lot of old grouchy people come here so maybe that’s why?

This Marie Callender’s used to be great. After the location in Merced closed, we’d visit the Modesto location once or twice a year. Never again after yesterday! They were slow to seat us and it was 4:30 in the afternoon, not exactly packed. The server, though nice, was super slow. Perhaps she was overwhelmed. She gave us a hard sell on the soup and salad bar, we assumed because it cost more than the dinner specials and she wouldn’t have had to wait on us much. She tried to talk the kids out of the pie that came with their meals in lieu of her«special surprise,» which I’m assuming was probably a scoop of cheap ice cream with some chocolate thrown on top. I’ve never had such a hard upsell at a Marie Callender’s before. The kids got their food a full twenty minutes before we did. She told us «The kids’ meals always come out before the adults» to warn us that our food would be a while. Really? In the 20 plus years we’ve visited various Marie Callender’s we’ve always gotten everyone’s meals at the same time. So by the time our food came out(completely cold, by the way) the kids had already finished eating and were antsy. She never took away any of our dishes, which we just kept piling up on the edge of the table. And we had to ask and ask and ask to get more water for the kids. I have no idea why this was so hard for her. The final insult — a hair in my linguine. Yep. A freaking hair. So I got up and went to the car, because I literally thought I was going to barf, and my husband dealt with the bill. They comped my meal, which was great, because I took maybe two bites out of it. She tried telling me it was lint, not hair. Honey, I have long hair — I know hair when I see it. Anyway, Marie Callender’s is permanently ruined for us. I sense this location is probably on its way out as well. Which is too bad, because it used to be a safe bet for dinner with the kids.

This is place is awesome. Really good pies and that’s the reason I’m eating here today. When u r sat down they always bring u a delicious plate of cornbread as an appetizer while u wait for ur food. I ordered the frisco burger with the works. Got to say it was quite good. Gotta come back and try there breakfast which is u fortunately not served all day. Will update once I do

Sad to have to change my good review to a bad one, I had a weird experience today. To make this short and sweet. My brother ordered ribs with shrimp, they came out with rib bones covered in sauce! What in the world!!! You pay a pretty penny and for them to serve sauced covered ribs is absurd! My salad was the kale salad and I found traces of iceberg lettuce, corn and a little tiny piece of avocado at the bottom of my cold chicken KALE salad, it’s as if they put my salad on top of a used plate of the shrimp Baja salad I believe it’s called because those ingredients were mentioned on the description of the other salad. Of course I didn’t see this until I was almost done with my salad. I wanted to go get sick! My bro convinced me not to say anything but I would of if the grumpy woman server we had wasn’t busy. That’s just the half of my bad experience. Sad to say I don’t ever want to return and I like to frequent with my fam on our family get togethers. Seriously again why would you serve bbq covered rib bones? I hope they weren’t from someone’s plate you cleared! Ok I hope I don’t get sick. My visit was Friday may 22nd around 5:30/6 pm

I hadn’t gone to Marie Callender’s since the one in Milpitas closed. I was excited to go. I went with my wife and bro-in-law. We ordered the Appetizer Sampler, the Heartland Chicken Pot Pie, and the Country Hasher. The corn bread they gave us was smaller and dryer than I remember. My wife was blown away by the pie, to the point that she’s still talking about it. It was apparently a very delicious pie, even though she could only manage to eat less than half of it at the restaurant itself. The sampler was tasty; the onion rings were golden, crispy, and not burnt or soggy. The mozzarella sticks and green bean sticks were the same way; crispy and golden, with no burnt or soggy parts. The chicken tenders were delicious as well. Weird however was the fact that they give you three containers of Ranch and one of marinara sauce. Shouldn’t there be more of a variety of sauces with a variety of appetizers? I would have thought there would at least be some barbecue sauce or honey mustard for the chicken tenders. Just a little nit-pick. The country hasher was good; the tots were very crunchy and tasty. The sausage wasn’t so flavorful, and neither was the bacon, but the gravy was flavorful — if a bit heavy. The blueberry muffin that came with it, however, was super fresh and super delicious. Service was quick. We went during lunch, and it was pretty empty. Not a place to go to for the vibe.

My wife and I had apple pie ala mode here for breakfast on Pi Day, 03÷14÷15 at 9:26AM. The pie wasn’t bad, but was disappointing for a business that has a display case in the lobby entrance that displays the pies that made this restaurant famous. Service was good, and our coffee cups were never empty. Prices are high, though.

I usually only ever go in for the pies, but the times I’ve come to dine in were always pleasant as well. Chocolate satin pie is the way to go, in my opinion. Dying to try their cheesecake next time. Also hit up their muffins and cookies, there’s usually a special on those and they’re really good as well. Not much more I can say, every experience has been pleasant — no problems with food or staff, always happy to see and help you. My only«complaint» is this place needs to be as popular as Starbucks is! I live in Manteca so I’m sad that I can’t really afford trips to Modesto to pay this place a visit often.
