Wahhhh they closed this location. You can still get your HLS Yums at their maplewood location though.

Came here after the gym and got exactly what we needed. The service is good and the vibe is laid back and cool. Chicken mozzarella wrap and Thai chicken wrap were both very good and we got over if their juices. It tasted pretty fresh. This place makes it a point to show their healthiness in the did she in the drinks, but they aren’t priced like other healthy food places.

Great wraps! I’ve had the chicken caesar, thai peanut wrap, and I think one with chicken and spinach. This place is always a hit and each wrap comes with a side salad. They are healthy size wraps and always make me full, in a good way. My husband and I shared sweet potato fries the last time too which were yummy. Side note: they had 90s r&b playing the last time we were there which was nice to reminisce on. Order at the counter and they will bring the food out to you kind of place.

I wish this place opens in JC. I wish this place opens in JC. I wish this place opens in JC. If I say it enough times will it come true? A healthy food gem! I had lunch meetings and my man went ahead and had lunch here without me and raved… RAVED about his meal. We were pulling an all day Montclair day so we needed a spot for dinner and I made him(no teeth pulling here) return to HLS. It’s a rather large space and casual. You order at the counter, you sit and they bring you your food. So many great salads and healthy options. I went with the brown rice choose your own adventure dish. I went with soy chicken w/broccoli and a thai sauce and it was large and damn tasty. Perfectly cooked soy chicken bits smothered in a subtle Thai sauce accompanied by bright and freshly steamed broccoli. I was a bit bummed to see they didn’t have hot sauce, because the dish did need a bit of a kick in my opinion. What kind of place doesn’t have hot sauce?! Overall a great spot for healthy and filling food. You leave satisfied and not feeling gluttonous at all. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Montclair to try out some other items off your desirable menu. Oh yeah, open up a storefront in Jersey City!

The Montclair HLS has a lot better atmosphere than the Maplewood location. The food is the same though. I tried the Green Dream Juice(kale, celery and apple) — tasty and healthy. I came around brunch time, so I ordered to-go, the Egg White, Spinach and Turkey Sausage Wrap. This wrap tasted fresh and yummy, but I wish I threw some hot sauce on it before I left. They have so many cool creations to choose from — can’t wait to come back.

Not bad, not bad at all! Decent juices, decent food, decent pricing. The food was of good quality and of fairly good flavor. The carrot juice was great :) service was a bit slow even when it wasn’t busy. Not my favorite spot but I would eat here again!

This place is a dieter’s dream. So many healthy choices! We ordered the green dream juice drink and it was delicious! We also split the salmon with kale and spinach and the Thai chicken salad. The mustard vinegarette sauce on the Salmon was really tasty and it was cooked perfectly. The Thai chicken salad was huge and really good as well. I can’t wait to come back!

Before heading to Pinot’s Palette, I decided to get dinner at HLS Juice Bar & Grill. What a great pick! They have a great vegan/vegetarian selection on their menu and tons of comfy seating and tables throughout the restaurant. I ordered a BBQ chikkin’ wrap with a side salad and their green dream juice. The wrap was amazing! The faux chikkin’ had a decent texture to it, but the sauce was on point. Totally satisfied my belly. The green dream juice of kale, apple, and celery was great to wash it all down. The ladies helping out were sweet and friendly. Definitely will be back when I’m in town again.

When I’ve had a few too many drinks the night before, or when I haven’t exactly been eating right for the last few days, nothing sets me right like a fresh juice. I’m not talking cranberry juice(«Now what are ya drinkin? Cranberry juice. Cranberry juice – what is it your period?»), I’m talkin juice juice; Kale, apple and celery. While I usually go to Manhattan Juice Bar on Glenridge Ave. in Montclair, I decided to try Health Love and Soul instead. I’m pretty sure this is the space where Indigo Smoke used to be(still not over the fact that Indigo Smoke changed their menu then subsequently closed years ago). HLS was pretty bumpin for 2pm on a Saturday(good sign), the staff was nice and I liked their juice better than Manhattan’s. You’re gonna pay $ 5 for a small juice no matter where you go, but trust me it’s worth it. While I only had the juice(«The Green Dream» a.k.a «The Detoxifier»), HLS has a menu that specializes in healthier versions of common breakfast and lunch options. I’ll be back.

HLS is a favorite of mine in Montclair. Love the soulful vibe. I’ve tried so many things on their menu and have never been disappointed. The citrus soy spare ribs are delicious(as well as the soy nuggets — crispy and perfect) Their chopped salad is great too. Oh and the smoothies are fantastic!

«Hangin’ out… down the street. The same old thing… we did last week. Not a thing to do but talk to you. Not a thing to do out in the street… oh yeah.» I love this place! From the smooth soulful-retro sounding music, to the NYC village café of old days meets shabby chic\local art gallery style. The guy at the register always reminds me of Steven Hyde(that 70’s Show) and each time I walk in I almost expect the whole 70’s Show gang to come out from the kitchen!!! …hasn’t happened yet… O_o The food is always on point, fresh ingredients, delicious taste, not heavy in oils. My usual tried and loved dish is the Grilled Chicken salad with Caesar. This was my first visit with the kids. My son had the peanut butter and jelly, my daughter a bowl of chicken vegetable soup, both loved their meals. I had a small chicken vegetable soup, which has been consistently delicious each time. Diced chicken, brown rice, carrot slices, Lima beans, delicious! I also went a different route and had the Thai Chicken Salad. The chicken was sautéed in a peanut sauce that was so tasty, I didn’t have to put dressing on the salad. My 8 year old tried it and loved it so much, she had half — unheard of my kids do not like salads!

I’m not a big health food fanatic but stopped in for my wife to have a smoothie. Empty and depressing with bored looking employees on a Saturday evening. Prices pretty standard and some decent looking wraps and salads. Smoothie was good. My wife was hoping for one with veggies or some interesting flavors but those all seemed to be the fresh juices. Overall, seemed to be trying too hard with their artwork and their image and many better options around. Also took waaaay too long to make the smoothie with no one waiting and several employees.

HLS is our #1 option for healthy food in the Bloomfield/Montclair area. Muscle Maker is #2, and a FAR #2 from this spot. The wraps are very tasty, healthy, and can be customized to your will. You don’t want chicken on your chicken caesar wrap? It’s off. Their staff is really nice and welcoming, and the place itself is kept up very well. Nice, relaxing jazz music plays while you’re eating. I got the Chicken Caesar wrap, and it was delicious. Two wraps and two waters cost us about $ 14 — affordable for the quality of food you’re getting. If you want a smoothie, look no further. The«Make Your Own» option is great for anyone who wants their custom drink tailored perfectly.

Stopped by HLS to grab a couple of smoothies the other day. The employees were genuinely friendly and funny and our smoothies came out in less than five minutes, despite there being a queue in front of us. There’s not a whole lot of variety on the menu, but if you’re hankering for a smoothie, you should be able to find something you like. The Spicy Icy is a ginger-y beast, and certainly different from anything I’d ever tasted! And you can«make your own smoothie» by choosing from a list of up to three types of fruits. They use organic cane juice to sweeten up the smoothies, too(as opposed to refined sugar). If they expand their menu, I’d like to see some orange(or other citrus) up in there. Would definitely stop by again, maybe even to try their delicious-sounding«health» food.

Wander far enough down Bloomfield Ave. and you’ll stumble upon this tasty little treat. Their specialty is fresh juices, but the food is delicious, too. I’ve been there multiple times for the Green Dream juice(kale, celery and green apple) and my husband loves the fresh apple juice. On our last visit I got the chipotle salmon wrap, which had the perfect amount of spiciness and was super filling. The dressing on the side salad was simple, if it was anything more than balsamic vinegar(that’s my go-to dressing anyway). My husband got the tofu scramble with turkey sausage, and while both of us thought it was a bit odd to serve turkey sausage with a tofu scramble, it was satisfying nonetheless and powered us back up after having biked eight miles to get there and still having the return trip ahead of us. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and they have a big chalk board on the wall that you can leave your mark on. This place is refreshing in all senses of the word.

I walked by this place one day and even stopped in, but decided to keep moving. However, today after reading some of the Unilocal reviews, I decided to finally try it out. I ordered from the«Brown Rice Dishes» section of the menu. I got the salmon fillet with spinach and substituted kale for the brown rice. I was very pleased with my meal. The salmon was cooked very well and the side of honey jerk sauce I chose, gave it a sweet & spicy kick. The sauteed spinach and kale was so flavorful. I also picked up one of the bottled organic juices. I chose the Mango Passion Fruit. Perfectly sweetened and refreshing. I was in need for a place that served delicious pescetarian/vegetarian food and I found it. Next time I’ll go for breakfast/brunch & try one of their smoothies.

I read a lot of positive reviews about HLS here on Unilocal and I have to admit they were were spot on about this place. I was surprised by how«cool» it was inside. When I walked in they had some Al Green bumping through the sound system. It had a nice ambiance to it as well. Looking over the menu I spotted a picture of the grilled chicken spinach wrap. It looked really good so I decided to go with that. Mind you this is more of a health conscious restaurant so they had a plethora of healthy goodness on the menu which made it a little harder to decide. I saw a bunch of reviews on how good their sweet potato fries are. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of sweet potato fries but I figured I’d see what all the hype was about. Damn, were the reviews right! I am officially a sweet potato fry fan. They were cooked to perfection. They had a nice crispy outside and a soft buttery inside. Amazing. The chicken spinach wrap was also very good. It had a lot of spinach inside as well as melted cheese. I’m not sure if it was low fat cheese but either way it was tasty. To wash all of this down I decided to try one of their organic juices that I also heard a lot about here on Unilocal. The reviews were right again! I ended up buying 4 bottles to bring home to drink. I tried the mixed berry limeade and the strawberry lemonade. They all were awesome. Overall, I was very impressed with HLS. It had everything I look for in a «healthy» restaurant. I highly highly recommend the sweet potato fries. I’m definitely going back again real soon.

There are some places that just make you feel cooler when you walk inside of them. HLS is one of those places. Once I cross the plane of HLS, the ambience and soundtrack make me feel like a young Billy Dee Williams.* I was in search of a good smoothie and happened upon HLS in some combination search between Unilocal and Google. I was expecting a small smoothie shoppe that churns out mechanical and overblown juice drinks, but instead got the feeling that I had suddenly found smoothie nirvana. Despite the name, the pineapple banana banger is my #1 choice for smoothies — great consistency and flavor. There are plenty of tables to hang out and eat if you want. The food is healthy and the service is friendly and attentive. There is nothing not to like about this place, it’s a good lunch spot or a great place for a smoothie break. If you don’t feel cooler when you walk in here, maybe you’re just that cool.** ______________ * Fine, I’ve never really felt like this, but I want to. This is just an exaggeration to explain to you how cool this place feels when you walk in. ** You’re not actually.
