Store hasn’t been open in weeks, and the blinds are drawn shut. Phone number is disconnected. Closed for good? UPDATE11÷20÷15: I spoke with the kind folks at the Corner Café next door. Turns out they’re owned by the same person. Marzullo’s is just on hiatus…“We’re figuring out what we want to do with the space.” Four stars for the potential…

Was craving some Italian cuisine after a day at the beach… After seeing some not so positive reviews I decided to give it a chance. I ordered the fried calamari appetizer and the chicken Francese as my main. The fried calamari was simply ok. My entrée came out rather quickly which is always a plus, not the best I’ve tried– lacked flavor… But, certainly not the worst. The staff and service was very attentive and polite… Will give it another chance!

I just left this restaurant before eating, so the review is based solely on service, not on food. I came in for lunch to a mostly empty restaurant. There were two guys behind the counter and a young woman in front of the counter who looked like a customer, but turned out to be an employee. While I was looking over the menu, one of the guys behind the counter made a snide remark-«is he just gonna stand there?» I brushed it off and ordered off the specials board– which had 3 sandwiches on it. They were all abbreviations– MSU, MHS, and one other. I clearly ordered one, repeated it, and sat down. When it was ready, they made the wrong sandwich, and then questioned whether I was sure what I ordered. They did offer to make the right sandwich, but between the wrong order, the questioning me, and the snide remark while I was standing there– I had enough. Now across the street at Panzano’s waiting on lunch. Sorry Marzullo’s, you lost a customer.

Really good margherita pizza and calamari. Little on the slow end but owner and staff are extremely accommodating and nice.

Solid food. Never had anything to complain about. Not amazing but really quite consistent in delivering good food. Good selection of sandwiches which are my favorite to get. Everything is always fresh.

My family has been going to M’s for the past 5 yrs about. Always thought it was a nice Italian restaurant .good food, service and local. UNTIL… they changed owners. Was there two weeks ago. Immediately noticed the sauce on my eggplant was awful. During dessert i said«i thought the sauce was terrible». Almost all at once 4 others said«I know!» They were also doing some reconstruction to the ‘front«door which had plywood over it. NOWHERE was there a sign to tell you what other door to enter the place. Finally we found the door that had an arrow pointing to the door that was no more. *That* was the entrance. lol In conclusion i doubt any of us will be back as there are many other eateries to try. failure.

HORRIBLE! I went for the half price pasta night and I ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The only thing I could only taste was oil. When I took my fork and held the pasta up to the edge of the bowl, a little less than a ¼ cup of oil seeped to the bottom of the bowl. Absolutely disgusting. Won’t be coming back here…

New owners have done fantastic job. Restaurant food quality has done a complete 180 and so glad it has. Really excited to go back soon.

We ate there last night and the food and entertainment was great. The portions are large and the staff is super friendly and nice. The new owner took over in January and he’s very nice It’s a byob and there’s a liquor store a few doors down.

Used to be pretty good. They sold the place to new owners… and it seems like noone knows which way is up. Confusion, wrong orders, no consistency, the staff seems totally untrained and frustrated etc. I’ve tried several times to give it another shot hoping they were working out the kinks… and each time its just worse. I’ve had a sandwich, pasta and pizza… and even the pizza was undercooked. I don’t understand what happened. I know there was talk of complete renovation so I’m hoping to chalk it up to them being in transition and maybe starting fresh at some point… but for now I’d stay away until the figure out what’s going on.

we returned to marzullos after a year and it was awful. The ‘manager’ looked like he just came from the gym, the restaurant was cold that people had their coats on while eating, the waitress seemed to have complaints from every table, including ours, as she gave us wrong soup and size ordered, and the bathroom did not have hand soap. I could turn a blind eye on some of these things, but it was just a terrible dining experience overall. Very disappointing and we will not be returning.

Only okay. The quality of the food is not so hot and the service is not so great. They have a half priced pasta special Monday-Wednesday but if you want whole wheat pasta, you don’t just pay the few bucks additional, they charge you regular price. This feels cheap and stupid to me, especially when both pastas taste like they came out of a box. Frankly, most everything tastes like it came out of a box, can or jar. There’s much better Italian food, service and ambiance at other places in Montclair and the surrounding areas. Skip Marzullo’s.

Ill sum this one up quickly… Good italian food as long as you don’t know italian food. This is what happens when the dish washer suddenly becomes the italian chef. The owners have definitely taken a back seat here and have concentrated on the money and not the product. While it may have started out as a family run business the recent generations running it lack pride. Allot of potential but i wouldn’t dare take my nona here with the current setup. I ordered pasta which was cooked al dente but swimming in pasta water. The sauce. Thats right… Sauce because where I’m from in Napoli, the word gravy is used with reverence. It refers to a sunday sauce prepared with meat. So thick and fortified that it stains utensils. With that being said, the stuff served here is sauce. While not disgusting, i found it over cooked and lacking soul.

Horribly food, worst service. Stay away from this place. Wouldn’t sit us down, had us waiting for close to an hour for our food.

Very tasty Italian, large portions and good selection. The cuts of meat are better than most places. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive; especially Leslie, she’s great! The layout leaves something to be desired, especially if you get stuck at a table right next to the restroom. Very unattractive when you’re eating, and a high traffic area.

I’ve been here a couple of times and their food never seems to stack up. Their desserts are better than their food. The service also sucks. If you want a better Italian restaurant, go to Salute or Frank Anthony’s.

Very accommodating and friendly service. Slightly pricey but yummy pastries, and reasonably priced foods. Worth stopping in.

Great food! If you can’t get street parking — there’s municipal parking in the back.

Why did I not heed the 3 star warning from fellow Unilocalers and stay away??? I had a bad feeling about stepping in here but was in a rush for some last minute movie munchies and coffee so hit this place up. well, I felt like the one hit, right in the wallet! Still don’t understand how two biscotti, two pignoli cookies and two cappuccinos came out to $ 15.00. Disappointed all around by the flavor, the price and the slow service.
