I first encountered a Charley’s in The Shops at Montebello’s food court. The food at most food courts is usually delicious, overpriced, fast food that hits the spot and fills you with regret later. Not Charley’s.
All of the subs look delicious, but the special sub is sufficient enough for me AND my wallet. There’s a special combo deal for $ 4.99 that comes with a small chicken Philly, mind you the small is a very filling decent size! I’m perfectly happy with the small, and it comes with fries! Their fries are awesome, fresh, hot, simple. So I would definitely recommend grabbing one of these bad boys if you’re tight on money and need a quick bite. It’s 5 bucks and some change for a great sandwich and a side of fresh cut fries. Amazing. The chicken Philly comes with your choice of cheese (let them know if you’d like a specific because they use a default cheese) a load of flavorful seasoning and veggies. You can watch them create your sub and ask them for extras or alternatives. There’s all sorts of spices and sauces on the counter at no charge.
Customer service has always been outstanding at Charley’s, so thank you for always been so nice and attentive! It’s a plus.
Last but not least. On the back of your receipt there is a cool freebie for a free side of fries pending a survey generated code. Go online and complete the quick survey and get a code to give the cashier for a free side of fries with the purchase of a sub. It’s an infinite supply of free fries!
I recommend Charley’s to anyone looking for something different in the fast food industry. It just doesn’t feel like fast food, it’s grilled to order and very satisfying.

Don’t bother driving all the way here without first making sure they aren’t out of malt vinegar. Bc of course that’s what I did I drove all the way there and they tell me we ran out sorry .it’s 4pm and u ran out and noone has gone to get more? Sorry u lose me as a customer forever.

This is one of the few places to eat that are good in this mall. I’ve tried the phili cheese steak and this time I had the 3 cheese chicken (the limited edition). It was good but not perfectly cooked, they left my food to cold a little bit because they got too busy but still I wanted my food to be hot and ready. I also had the cheese fries and unfortunately they misplaced them in the bag and when I got back to my job’s break room they were all over the bag. I didn’t purchase any drinks but I’ve tried their peach drink and is too sweet.
Now, the question is… Would I come back?
Most probably because I work here and is conveniently super close to my job. I’ll try during the week and see if the fact that it was Saturday had anything to do with it.

Charley’s chicken buffalo sandwich was what I had. I ordered it in the small which was plenty big, with some cheese fries. Everything was hot, fresh and made to order. I added Lawry’s seasoning salt to my fries, and some extra buffalo sauce on the side for my sandwich. Everything was delicious. I will definitely eat here next time I’m at the mall.

The service was sub par had to repeat myself several times, on top of a 15 minute wait for a to go order. I watched 5 different people who where in line behind me get their food before mines was out. And when it did finally get finished when asked what toppings to put I got tired of repeating myself waiting for them to get each item. I am a patient person a very patient person but the wait time was not acceptable. The cooks weren’t wearing the proper safety masks as well when working with food while having facial hair. Which is already a bad sign right there. This is my second time coming to this establishment and the first time went pretty well I think better floor management needs to be implemented to make sure that they prioritize the customer properly for a sit down group to get their food in minutes and having a to go order take 15 minutes there is something wrong here. Very very dissatisfied!

Doesn’t matter which sandwich you order. They’re all good. I always get my sandwich with the ultimate fries. Those are the best. Customer service is awesome and the food is cooked right in front of you.

Pretty delicious cheesesteak. Like the upgraded fries. Good place for fast food if you want to change it up from Arby’s

I wish I could eat these Philly sandwiches more! They’re soo good. I like their regular fries. I tried their Chili cheese fries n didn’t like them. I like watching them make my sandwich in front of me n that I’m able to add what I like. Their drinks are good. Very refreshing n tasty. Compliments my cheat meal. Of course I’m going back.

Love this place the food is great and the service is awesome! Kathy took my order and was super friendly. I am hooked on their sandwiches and chili cheese fries. I always keep coming back.

If you miss California Steak and Fries then visit us in downtown Long Beach! 700 & Pine ave, we are American Steak and Fries Co. now but we assure you that we are still the one and only!

I love this place! I got to see my food cooked in front of me.
I got free toppings on my sub and free refills with my drinks.
My cheese and bacon fries were DELICIOUS and I’m addicted to their strawberry lemonade.

We’ve been here a few times now and have decided that it’s not as great as the previous California Steak & Fries.
The décor is cool, updated and sleek. They have cool cashier machines, more variety, free soda refills, cool combos, give awesome coupons and free samples as you walk by.
The food however, is too salty. Every sandwich I’ve tried, I haven’t finished because it was too salty.
I’m sad to say, I’m disappointed as California Steak & Fries was my fave spot in the food court. I may come back, but it’ll be a while… :(

4.99 philly combo. Nice. Wasn’t expecting much since this establishment is in the food court at the Montebello mall. To my surprise, very tasty and filling combos.
I had the philly cheesesteak combo, which came with fries, and a drink. You have to try there peach lemonade. Oh my god, it was very good. Food wise, portions and taste, very good.
Would definitely hit up this spot next time im there.
