It used to be better! I was a loyal customer. The staff was usually nice, untilI I met the owner, his wife, or manager. Who ever this lady is, she is not nice! She somehow forgets without customers this place would close. Anyway, eating there is definitely better then takeout. service is slow, but food is not too bad.(wife complaints its greasy) Also, The price has been raised on most items. However, I saw past all of this issues, until they started getting my orders wrong. Over paying for food and getting home to find your shrimp tacos are missing, thats not cool… It happened to often. There is not a lot of options for Mex food around, but I rather drive.

When I do decide to come here, I usually only come for the drinks. The cucumber margarita is delicious and refreshing so I love it. The salsa they give you when you get there is good as well BUT both times I have ordered food here I was a little dissatisfied. The Asada was super fatty both times. But I always come back for the drinks so I can’t complain. I’m sure there’s some great stuff on the menu but I just haven’t tried them.

Have only been to this place a couple of times, went recently and was satisfied again! It’s hard enough to find a Mexican food place in the area let alone a good one! So far, so good! Home cooking style cooking that hits the spot! Since it’s a lil’ hole in the wall, it can get crowded quick so be warned. Obviously they’re doing something right! Our server, a young girl, was really nice and attentive. Pretty cool to see a diverse group of customers.

I love small whole in the wall restaurants and bars. This spot is just another small place to enjoy a good lunch or dinner. Food is very well prepared and taste is great. I honestly wanted to check this place out for the fact i heard they made a good Michi(Michelada) i am a big fan of them, and to my surprise i was not disappointed. Pretty Good! The location is very small, not the best well kept but nothing you cant sit through to enjoy a meal and drinks. The only bad note i have is the service is not the best, they get kinda busy and on my visit there were only 2 ladies handling it all which seemed like way too much for only 2 people. I got my food and waited for my side tortilla to come out, so i asked not only once but twice before they brought them out and by the point my friend and i were already done with our plates. We also had to ask for refills cause after our first drinks came out they never came back to check on us.

I used to love this place and ate here countless times when I was in high school. I am sad to say that I can never come back to this place. The service was atrocious. Everything took forever from getting seated, ordering, getting the bill, etc. It wasn’t just our table, but the table next to us also waited so much that he had to ask for menus and then flag someone down to order. Had to ask several times for chips. Asked for knives and never got them so I was forced to cut everything using the side of my fork. I had the armando’s mex carnitas, something I have been eating for years. This time it came out cold, so cold that the cheese sprinkled on top of the wet burrito was solid and unmelted. It wasn’t inedible, but it just wasn’t good. When the bill eventually came, I found out that we were charged $ 2 for extra chips. That’s something I have never seen before. I’m not sure if this was new, but it sure put the cherry on top of the sundae! Keep in mind this place was never known for being awesome and I always encountered an issue every once in a while in the past. I have just never had everything at once and it was just too much. I am done with this place forever.

I have been coming here for quite some time but it took my family a few years to try this place as it looked a little sketchy from the outside. We always thought the restaurant was a bar because of the neon beer signs and you couldn’t see into the restaurant. Luckily, we had the courage to try it! I recommend the beef crunchy tacos and the carnitas plate. If you’re hungry, try the Armando’s burrito(it’s pretty big).

Against my better judgement, I decided to come back to give Armandos one last try. I ordered the two taco combo plate which came with rice and beans. When I arrived home(10 minutes after picking up the food), I opened the box and am immediately disappointed. I could already see the pool of grease and water soaking my tacos. It was impossible to pick them up and eat properly, so I had to fork and knife that damn thing. What disturbed me the most was the neighboring pool of oil hidden under my rice. I knew this place was going downhill but I didn’t realize it had already crashed and burned before I came back. The pictures speak for themselves. After this last visit I’m sure I won’t be back. I usually love supporting family owned business, but it’s time for you to call it quits Armando. Your food and service have been beaten by Taco Bell and Del Taco.

My family, boyfriend, and I LOVE carne asada & also their lengua Armando’s super mex burrito! Great friendly customer service! My boyfriend always gets their Fish Armando’s super mex burrito as well. Every time we crave for Mexican food in the SGV, we always come here to order our food. Also their Mixed Ceviche is the BOMB! If you’re a seafood fanatic! This is a must to order! Since I love their chunks of octopus, shrimps, and other ingredients on it. Just squeeze that lime all over it… That’s heaven to you in your mouth.(next time I would probably order a Margarita to go with this dish *drools*) Their San Gabriel location is closed, sad to hear that since that location was like home to me. Armando’s Mexican Restaurant on this location gives the same quality as the other location. So I’m very content that they’re still here. Keep it up Armando’s Mexican Restaurant! :D
