Full Moon never makes me disappointed. When my husband and I don’t feel like cooking, we go to Full Moon. My husband loves their hot and sour soup. Actually, we tried hot and sour soup at Kaochi restaurant located in Taipei, Taiwan. But he loves this better than the restaurant in Taiwan. I was worried when the ownership was switched but they maintain their quality and taste of food.

I remember coming here a year back or so, restaurant was mostly empty, 3 tables seated including(2) of us, and a Chinese family across from us who came in to the restaurant 10 minutes after us. We were seated first but were ignored and served much later than the family even though our order was taken 20 minutes before theirs. I have no idea why we didn’t just leave right there and then. It was completely rude of them to act this way. The food is also mediocre and I’ve definitely had better Chinese before. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Szechwan shrimp was flavorless and wonton soup was mainly cabbage. For $ 25, I’ll go somewhere else next time.

Every time we eat here we are always happy. Love their chicken chow mien. it reminds me of back home. their chicken noodle soup is, must try. Combination fried rice and the Mongolian beef is good as well. Inspire of all good food, 4 star is because they bring everything together… starter, soup and main course. I don’t know if that’s how their custom is but… it makes my entrée little bit cold. overall good food.

Horrible service, checked in on us once for a water refill, cold food, then they followed us out for not leaving a tip that they clearly didn’t deserve. Lastly, told us we were never welcomed back! Better restaurants in the area skip this place!

Outstanding food and service. I orders egg flower soup to start which was very good(I ordered the small size and it was quite generous). For the main course I had the Kung Pao Squid. It is labeled as spicy, which it is, but it is full of flavor as well, and the squid itself is very nicely cooked and not tough(tough squid/calamari is a phenomenon I have frequently encountered elsewhere). The service was prompt and courteous. All in all this was an exceptional dining experience.

We were so glad to have this place by our hotel(Marriott). We were exhausted after traveling for several days and decided to have movie night in the room. I called our order in and it was ready in 15 minutes. The food was hot and very fresh. Lot’s of veggies and little oil — just how I like it. And they had brown rice which is nice option since neither of us eat white rice. All of the chicken was high quality breast. I actually felt guilty eating all of it while watching Jane Eyre — that orphan looked like she could have used some delicious garlic chicken to cheer her up.

My husband and I came on vacation for dinner. The food was good, but not the best Chinese food we have ever had. We ordered the orange chicken that other reviewers have said was amazing, but to be honest we weren’t fans of it. The waitress suggested the Mandarin Shrimp and we both really enjoyed that dish– MUCH better than the orange chicken. The service was good, but overall I thought it was a little pricey for what it was.

My boyfriend and I come in here at least once a week. It’s our favorite restaurant on Alvarado. If you like spice, order the mapo tofu Szechuan style. It’s our favorite thing. Super friendly staff and good service. If you don’t go, you’re missing out.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Monterey. My only complaint is that I wish it wasn’t smack dab in the middle of downtown Monterey and a little more convenient to get to, because if it were, we’d probably be eating here way more. Currently living in Marina, though, we still eat here often because it’s that good. My favorite dish here is the Kung Pao Lamb. As far as every other dish we’ve gotten here, everything has been so delicious. I would say that this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area.

we eat here often and bring people here whenever they visit clean & delicious I have never had bad food here, every dish uses delicious ingredients … they will make it as you like it … if you want the sauces on the side, they will do that for you … I order the Sweet /Sour Shrimp without a coating on the shrimp … wonderful .

We went there during the Christmas break. Knowing that there are not many Chinese restaurants in Monterey, my expectation was not high but the food turned out to be quite good! We ordered three Sichuan style dishes: 夫妻肺片,青椒肉丝 and 酸菜鱼。All are quite authentic with good flavor. We also ordered beef noodle for the boys and they both like it and ate all. Will definitely recommend this place!

We had an excellent meal and will come back. Mongolian beef and cashew shrimp were exceptional. We got the family dinner special for four and plenty of dishes came with it for a good value. The service was sparse and friendly. The wait is about 15 minutes but they took a phone reservation and were open on New Year’s Day. It’s a bit loud, luckily, we were in the front corner where it was quieter.

The spicy food is so yummy. The owner and chef are working on how to offer new dishes and keep the flavor authentic! The waiter is okay. They do not like to do custom order. But it is my favorite restaurant in Monterey now!!! Yaaaayyyy!

Wow, been… a long time since I’ve written a review on here, but was really surprised and wanted to encourage them about something. My parents live in the area and our whole family loves Chinese food, but we’ve had a hard time finding anything other than the oily, syrupy ‘Americanized’ Chinese food that is so common around here. Don’t get me wrong, orange chicken is a personal guilty pleasure and can certainly be good comfort food… but sometimes you just want something with a little more soul. So we were looking online and saw a picture of ‘Chong qing spicy chicken’ in a Momo G.‘s review(the fried pieces of chicken piled up with tons of chilies) and got excited. I called and asked about the chicken, but it’s either not on the menu or it might be on there as ‘Szechuan Chicken’, so it took some describing for them to know what I wanted. But then they started saying that they specialize in Sichuanese food(our favorite!), and I started naming dishes that we like and we forgot all about the pot stickers and broccoli beef. We ended-up getting Chong Qing Chicken, Ma Po Tofu, Dan Dan Noodles, Dry Sauteed String Beans, and Sizzling Rice Soup(for my wife’s upset stomach.) All were great! We specified spicy for the first three dishes and it was some of the best Sichuanese we’ve had outside of San Gabriel Valley! I gotta say, I’m a bit of a nut for the burning-numbing you get with chilies with Sichuan peppercorns, and this really hit the spot. So here it goes: Full Moon, there’s a market for this stuff and you guys do it well! There are a lot of decent restaurants in the area, but not many that are doing anything very interesting, and there’s a lot more people that like this stuff than it seems. Maybe don’t get rid of the more ‘normal’ stuff, but don’t hide what you do well. Either way, we’ll definitely be coming back, and can’t wait to try more! Maybe some cold dishes?

This is a really good Chinese food spot even without considering that it’s in downtown Monterey. I’ve been here ~7 years ago and this year(2015) and both times were solid.

This place is one of the best Chinese spots on the peninsula! The orange chicken here is second to none. I highly recommend it if you’re a fan of chicken. Oh and for anyone that cares to look at the menu online the link for the website on Unilocal worked for me.
