I came into the shop asking for spokes and the employee basically sumed me up and said buy new wheels. I understand I do not look like someone who would be able to fix my bike but none the less. I did fix my bike with no help or advice, besides don’t do it or else your going to have to pay more for us to fix it. The people at the bike shop in sand city where nicer and more willing to help.

I’ve been coming to Peninsula Bike Works since they opened and I will never take my bikes anywhere else because they have consistently out-serviced, out performed, out-friendlied all of the competition. I’ve talked about this with a few of my cycling friends and invariably we agree, Peninsula Bike Works is where you go to get the highest quality mechanical and customer service and support.

This shop continues to impress. I was building a BMX cruiser and these guys were a huge help. Local bike shops can be snobby sometimes but Peninsula was helpful, gave sound advice, and had parts on hand. I will certainly be back.

Looking at the consensus of the other reviews, this place delivers what is beyond expectations! I am a novice cyclists! I was in a bike accident several months back and my bike took a slightly beating, it was only 3 weeks old at that time. There was a minor deformity with the handle bar/hood?(I’m still learning the bike jargon). I brought it back to the shop that sold me my bike and asked them to look over the bike to see if any damage was done and pointed out The aesthetic unpleasing handle bar. I picked up my bike and they said everything was fine yet my handle bar was still deformed. I, not knowing any better thought it was just unfixable, took my bike home and kept on riding it. As time went on my other friends noticed it and asked how come I never fixed it, they then suggested Micah from bike works… I was actually quite intimated going here alone. Since I really do not know anything about bikes! The shop repair area is pretty spacious and clean. I asked for Micah and he was working on another bike. I brought my bike to him and he noticed the bent hood right off the bat. He then took out a small gadget and straightened it out then and there. I was in awe! Then he said he wasn’t going to charge for it… Bottom jaw dropped… I was so impressed… But now I got to think. If this was a simple job and the other place didn’t fix it I better have him tune up and look at my bike… Then I asked him questions about the different pedals since I’m using kiddie pedals and would like to be clipless. He took the time to show me the different shoes and pedals! He answered all my questions without using bike lingo that would sound like a foreign language! When I picked up my bike, it was nice and clean. He even hid some of my wires to make it more beautiful! Micah gave me some«cleaning/maintenance» advice. I will now come to this shop a lot less intimated and totally comfortable! Thank you for the great service!

Great service from 2 friendly & generous bike masters. I was having trouble using my new tire pump & they took time to teach me the best & easiest way to use it. I’m so grateful! Now I can do my own physical therapy, riding the beautiful coastal trail. Thanks again guys! You’re the best!

Utterly wonderful. My wife and I were in town for a couple of days… she’d just switched to Albatross bars and hadn’t recabled adequately. Micah had the right parts — in this case, more than just cable, but a new rear brake — and ensured that it was fixed properly, providing great advice and helping make the right repair choice. As a result of his help, the bike was up and working very quickly and we were able to ride as we gad planned. He’s a really pleasant person to work with and utterly fair in his dealings — he didn’t know me from Adam but he provided top-flight service with a smile and great competence. I’ll return next time we’re in Monterey.

We were out-of-town cyclists with an inoperable bike on a cycling roadtrip. Micah and staff were willing to take a look and fix the bent rim quickly, cheaply, and sent us on our merry way. Very nice shop!

Great customer service. They were closed for presidents day, but they opened up for me which I wasn’t expecting when I stopped by. They fixed my flat which I went there for but also measured my chain and adjusted my brakes. Took credit card even though I know cash was easier for them. Ill be back soon for more service.

This place is the Ritz Carlton of bike shops – they REALLY know their bikes and how to take care their customers: no fuss, hidden fees, or trying to upsell you anything. Micah and his crew are the best. I recently took a bike trip with four buddies – we biked from San Francisco to Santa Monica in 7 days. Along the way, we stayed in Monterey for the night and stopped at Peninsula for some air. Each of us also had minor questions about our bikes. Micah patiently listened to our problems and fixed each of them at no or minimal cost. I had trouble shifting to the high gears, so Micah tightened my shifters multiple times until it felt right. In addition, one of my buddies, while pumping his tire, popped his air cap. Micah fixed it and even did a basic diagnosis on his bike. In the mean time, Micah’s colleague asked about our route and gave us directions on how to best get out of the city and back on the road. Micah even sent us off with jelly beans! On the trip, we visited many bike stores, none has even come close to the level of service at Peninsula Bike Works!

Headed here from PG after Forest Hill bike shop wasn’t that interested in our business. We just needed an entry level bike at an affordable price point for my husband so he can cruise around on the weekends with me & our son & Sean showed us exactly that as soon as we walked in. They didn’t have any put together so he said he would try & work on the size my husband needed ASAP and could have it done in a couple hours or so, yes! He called us back just a short while later and even stayed open late on a Saturday so my husband could go pick it up. Overall experience could not have been any better and I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone! Thank you guys again!

Flying into Monterey for a conference at the Hyatt and staying several miles away that promised a bike I could borrow, sight unseen, was pushing it. I soon realized the poor bike was suffering from a saggy tire, dry-as-a-bone chain, and questionable brakes. During a 30-minute coffee break, I searched for and located Peninsula Bike Works right down the road from the Hyatt. They warmly greeted me as I walked in, and explained that a full tune-up would probably have to wait until Monday. No good. When I explained I was only in town for a week, and wanted to safely make it up and down the insane hill I was staying near the top of, they took care of it right then and there. For free. Air, lube, a quick brake adjustment, reassurance that the bike was safe, and a suggestion that the bike’s owner get it fully tuned up. Done and done. I was back at the Hyatt in time to get a cup of tea before the next set of talks!

OK, so after getting my bike tuned up last week, I went for a ride in the woods this weekend, to get back into the swing of things. Unfortunately, I tried popping over a log, and ended up bending the teeth on my sprocket ring. With the chain slipping off the number two ring, I made my way out of the woods, and stopped by the closest bike shop– Forest Hill Bikes – in Pacific Grove. First of all, the guy in the shop seemed annoyed that I even walked in. Sweaty and greasy, I explained my situation, and asked if he could help. He looked at it and said I needed a new ring. I asked if it could be bent back – he said no. I asked if it was worth a try – he said no. I asked how to fix it – he said I needed to replace it. Totally unimpressed, I rode home in 1st. So I brought the bike back to Peninsula Bike Works, explained my problem, and they said that it could probably be bent back. I ran home, got the bike, and in 5 minutes, after some tinkering and hammering, Micah had the ring all straightened out and shifting smoothly. I took it for a test ride, and it was all good. I asked Micah what I owed for the repairs, and he told me that maintenance was covered since I had it tuned up there last week. These guys are the best. If you need bike repairs, this is the place.

My friend and I took our bikes here after riding down to Monterey from San Francisco. There were a few mechanical issues that we wanted to investigate and we ended up at Peninsula Bike Works because they were open the earliest of any bike shop in town. The staff were incredibly helpful and were able to thoughtfully and clearly answer all of our questions. I would definitely take my bike here again.

Peninsula bike works is the only place I go to get my bikes worked on. Sean and Mica are honest, down to earth and super friendly. I really appreciate their honest and humble advice as well. I recommend PBW to all my friends who ride and that’s saying a lot. If you need a bike tuneup, or you need something repaired then try these guys out and I guarantee you Mica and Sean will be your bike mechanics for life. They really go the extra mile, which is hard to find these days.

AMAZING!!! If you are into cycling or mountain biking or just plain transportation, you NEED to check these guys out. I will tell you now that not only was the service impeccable but the prices are very competitive and the work I’ve had done there is quickly and very thoroughly. The job was done cleanly and professionally by some extremely professional and friendly guys who have been in the industry a long time. The first time I went in I met them at closing time, even thought it was after hours, one of the owners Sean had the door open for me when he saw me walking up with the my bike, no «sorry we’re closed» he just invited me right in and asked me what i would like done. He told me they would start my tune-up first thing in the morning and have if for me by the end of that day. I was stoked, and when I went to pick it up I was met by Sean again and Micah the other owner they gave me a detailed report on what they had done and what they recommended I might do to improve my riding experience. These guys LOVE bikes, and you can see that they LOVE what they do as well. Not the typical experience you get in a bike shop, it’s obvious that the appreciate their customers. In general, this is an amazing new business and for anyone else that LOVES their bike, you need to do yourself a favor and see these guys. You will want to take your time and write a review like me!!!
