Tony’s Seafood Shack

This is my new favorite place! Don’t let the location or appearance fool you. Our family came here based on the Unilocal reviews and it did not disappoint. We got the fried fish & shrimp and cold lobster roll. Let’s start with the fish. It was a «fish and chips» style batter that was super crunchy and the fish was moist. The tarter and cocktail sauces they had to go with it were great as well. The shrimp were fried perfectly.
Next was the cold lobster roll. This was served on a warm buttered roll which was slightly sweet and super soft (so yummy). The lobster was just lightly dressed in a mayo based dressing with some celery and seasonings but it wasn’t overpowering so you could enjoy the flavor and sweetness of the lobster. It was amazing and I almost ordered another.
The staff were the nicest and most attentive group I’ve ever seen. They made sure we had a great experience and everything was to our liking.
The only downside was that it was a little warm inside like the A/​C couldn’t keep up but I would gladly eat in a warm restaurant as long as the food and service are as good as this place.

We were greeted by a friendly guy who met us at the door and seated us right away. While the restaurant is small, it was not overly crowded or loud for a Saturday night.
I had the lobster roll from the main menu and my girlfriend had the buffalo panko fried shrimp from the special menu. The lobster roll had a generous serving of lobster and was served on a delicious garlic bread. The shrimp were fresh and crunchy with a light drizzle of buffalo sauce. We both enjoyed the flavorful hush puppies and other fried tidbits.
It was a perfect dinner after a hot summer day on the lake. We will definitely be back for more good food!

Spot on as always. The newest owner Scott is a really nice guy. He cares what you think, and wants you happy. The current staff is great and attentive. I’ve had lobster, shrimp, scallops, haddock and most of the sides. The quality is top notch. Give it a try.

Having eaten lobster rolls in Cape Cod for years, my expectations were not high… but oh how I was delighted when I sank my teeth into the buttery and sweet bread that wrapped around the delicately seasoned, not over mayonnaised, lobster meat! I am so happy I came and will be back! The fishermans platter, clam strips, giant fried okra, and fried cod sandwich were HOT and delicious! Staff and owner were charming and helpful. I’d rather spend my money here than any chain or drive to Houston! P. s. My kids thought the TP was soft

Excellent — best seafood we’ve had in Conroe. I think the lobster roll had 5 lobsters worth of claws on it!

We found a Groupon offer and decided to give it a try. It was a bit tough to see from the road, but we got there just fine. We are so glad we did! The owner & the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered the Crabcake sandwich and the Lobster Bisque. The crab was delicious and the bisque was phenomenal! As full-​time travelers, we eat out often, and we eat seafood often. The seafood at Tony’s was just about the best we’ve had. Do yourself a BIG favor and give ‘em a try! There are a lot of places to eat in Montgomery and Tony’s Seafood Shack is one of the best!

Oh my the most delicious seared tuna I’ve had in a long time! I had it on my salad as a suggestion of theirs! Delicious fried shrimp and hush puppies, bread and French fries. Our neighbors go there all the time and now we will too. It will eventually be too busy to get in to I think because they are that good. No alcohol served but BYOB.
Another delicious ahi tuna and blackened mahi-​mahi! So delicious and clean, just love lunch and getting Togo dinners! Thank you for being outstanding!

Great food! Had the Lobster roll and Haddock plate… A1! The owners were good people, they sat and chatted us up while we shoved lobster and Haddock in our face. It’s pretty pricey… two people costs $ 58 for lunch at a little hole in the wall restaurant! They had a nice ambiance, good music, and island feel. They should make island drinks to round out the place. It’s a good place.

The food was great! I had fried shrimp & grilled scallops with hush puppies & mashed sweet potatoes. Staff was friendly and very knowledgable about their menu. Definitely coming back. I found the place on Unilocal while visiting Cork This, another great Montgomery business.

My husband and I came for the lobster roll, as we found this restaurant on Unilocal.We were not disappointed at all. My husband said it equals if not better then the rolls he’s eaten in New England. Very friendly place. We will be back!

Best seafood in the area by far. Very casual and a great staff that helped us feel so welcome.

Just an update: i went back a couple weeks ago and the price went way up. Was 15.95 for a lobster roll now 22.00 :-(food was good but way more expensive. The crab chowder was really good though

I saw an ad for Tony’s in a community paper, we decided to try something new for lunch. Tony’s is a hidden gem in Montgomery, you walk through the door to a quaint establishment.
We asked the staff for recommendations and we’re truly pleased. We started with a grilled crab cake, hands down the best crab cake… it was big enough for two to share. My husband had the cold lobster roll and I enjoyed the cod fish and chips. Everything had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. Including drinks our bill was $ 45.00, remember you are paying for fresh, quality food… don’t expect fast food prices.
The staff was extremely friendly, we will be back to enjoy more items on the menu. They are byob, so I’ll be bringing a cooler next time.

Took my daughter to lunch at this cute little restaurant. It was packed with customers which was a good sign of their quality. We shared the fried shrimp and cod tacos. The shrimp was really crunchy and seasoned well. We loved the seasoning on the fries. My daughter says they’re the best she’s ever had. The cod tacos tasted good. I would like a little more seasoning on the tacos next time, so I’ll remember to ask for that. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Today was my first time to visit Tony’s Seafood Shack and as a seafood lover, I have to say that I was really impressed!
For starters, we had the crab cakes. I’ve had crab cakes that barely had any crab with a ton of breadcrumbs. This was not the case. It was a generous sized crab cake and our side Mac and cheese was super tasty!
I had the lobster roll and I LOVED IT! A true lobster roll in my opinion should not be drenched in sauce but should compliment it. The light dressing with dill along with the buttery n toasted bun really brought out the flavor of the lobster instead of overpowering it.
We also had a fried fish and it also impressed me because I didn’t need to dip it in any sauce although his house made sauces were also really good.
I can’t compliment enough how much I loved the seafood here and the décor was REALLY CUTE!
Tony also owns a sandwich shop down the street and I LOVE LOVE LOVE their sandwiches! It’s called Tony’s Italian Delicatessen. These two places are a must try if you are ever in the Conroe/​Montgomery area.
I’ve already posted in several food groups that I’m a part of and so many have had nothing but great things to say about both establishments and about Tony. Tony is such an interesting character I know you will love him like I do!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new, and after reading just the menu we were set! I got the lump crab cake sami… it was MASSIVE! They even put it on a huge Hawaiian roll! My boyfriend got the haddock fillet sami, which was a footlong piece of fish on a the same big Hawaiian roll and only about half of it was covered by bread. Our eyes were insanely bigger our stomachs because we also got the lobster bisque, clam chowder, and apple bacon Mac and cheese… but all were SO GOOD.
The staff and Tony were awesome. They were very friendly and even gave us a piece of pie cause we couldn’t stop talking about how blown away we were by the food.
I’ll be very surprised if we don’t make it back EVERY time we come up to the lake.

I’m so happy Tony came to Montgomery and opened this place. Super fresh seafood at a reasonable price. My son and I had a great lunch there. We had broiled Redfish, applewood bacon macaroni and cheese and fried shrimp with fries.
The Redfish was broiled perfect and very fresh. The applewood bacon mac and cheese was amazing. The large, very fresh shrimp was fried to perfection, even the fries were great. Super nice staff set the stage for a great experience. Welcome to Montgomery, Tony and gang. We will become, what you call «regulars.»

I like Tony so I am big fan of what he brings to Montgomery Texas. His latest venture is a great new addition. My family ordered a wide range of menu items all were so good. The lobster roll had huge pieces of claw meat, not much added letting the lobster be the star. We preferred the grilled fish over the fried but both were great. The sides are simple and delicious. He gave me a potato salad to eat while I was waiting for takeout. The crab cakes are the size of a small plate, one can be split for two. This was only the first visit, I will be back often. I can’t wait to try his blue point oysters.
I ordered about a hundred dollars worth of stuff and was out the door in 10 minutes. Now I have to decide which of Tony’s Montgomery restaurants I want to go to on Saturday.

5 stars for the tastiness of the food, but ventilation wasn’t working or something because the entire place smelled so strongly of fried batter. I’m pretty sure everyone was tearing up from how strong the smell was.
Otherwise, the place is really clean with cute beach decorations.
Family got the soft shelled crab, crab cake lump, and haddock. Everything was fried in their batter and the two crab entrees were placed in a bun with loose lettuce. Really delicious and juicy. Perfectly lightly fried.
