Rural King Supply

Rural King is a wonderful thing.
Imagine walmart, but loaded up with things you can actually use.
On the down side, it does seem that most of the products are from china (even some of the name brands you’ve known as american for years and years), but that seems to be the way we’re going these days.
Oh, and FREE POPCORN!!!

Funnest store in Monticello hands down! I just love perusing the aisles for nothing in particular, but when I needed supplies for gardening, the lawn, home repairs, play clothes (like overalls, $ 30.00 jeans, rain boots), pet food, toys, tools, hardware, etc., I love coming here. There’s more selection and the people are more knowledgeable than at Walmart. The prices are great too. If you’re a guy, this is probably your dream store for big, heavy, industrial tools. They have serious stuff that contractors use, not just for the Do It Yourself people.
Their flowers, greenhouse and gardening supplies outside during the spring and summer covers a little of everything. The prices are comparable with the nurseries, but not cheaper than Walmart’s or Ace’s. I think the previous homeowner of my home bought all their plants here because only Rural King had every single plant in my yard.
I love the fact that they also assist Happy Tails Animal Care Center in letting them showcase the animals, sell baked goods and crafts and have a visiting veterinarian a couple times a year to provide cheap vaccinations for their customers’ cats and dogs. You’re also allowed to bring your dogs on a leash into the store anytime. During Halloween, they even have a costumed pet contest. I buy the Duralife 40 lb. bag of cat food for $ 18.00 my feral cats outside, and I buy the brand name, 40 lb., clumping cat litter for $ 14.00. Can’t find that anywhere else in town. They are the most pet friendly business in town.
