I’m at this store now, and I’m extremely impressed with the level of customer service. All of the guys here are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help out.
My boyfriend and I decided to build a bed, so they helped us price and cut lumber, as well as told us the differences between lumber, cuts, etc.
they even gave us a price break!
Will definitely be returning here for any future hardware /​building /​anything !

Working on my circa 1950 home’s exterior window trim, specifically the deteriorating redwood stucco trim. Anawalt stocks it — what length would you like? Their selection is outstanding. Top quality at reasonable prices, too. You’ll find only a fraction of Anawalt’s selection at Depot.

I’m replacing my kids’ preschool’s rock climbing wall and was looking for high grade, but inexpensive plywood and lumber. All the usual places, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. had nothing but warped, picked through, low grade stock. Anawalt Montrose had ¾″ ACX plywood that was just perfect from the surfaces, to the consistency, and the sheets were all perfectly flat. Cost less than those other guys, too!

We recently completed a large deck and purchased all of our exotic hardwood and supplies from Anawalt/​Montrose. From the owner down to ALL of the employees, we had excellent service and great prices. Everyone is friendly, down to earth and helpful. Unlike so many larger chains today, you get personal and friendly attention here… the way it should be! Thank you Anawalt/​Montrose!

Awesome!
Ok so now I want to work on landscaping my yard and an arbor would be awesome, or a couple of them. So, I need wood. First of all, I did not know that 4×4 redwood is hard to find, next 4×4×10 is almost impossible. None of the big chains carry it. Hmmmmm… Bingo, the local eagle rock lumber and hardware has it and it is $ 3.90 per foot (apparently it is sold by the foot) I would need about 40ft, so you do the math. After calling around I found that Anawalt Lumber & Hardware Co also has the coveted grail of redwood 4×4×10 and it is cheaper when you are buying as much as I am.
The price at Anawalt was $ 1 cheaper by the foot, so in total I ended up saving about $ 90!!! I don’t know about you, but sign me up for saving that kind of money any day. Now to work on the arbor.

This is a real old-​fashioned lumber yard, not some chain hardware with a couple of sticks of wood. Not many left like this one.
