The food was good. The atmosphere is rushed, a little dark to see, and loud, barely able to hear each other speak. It’s ok, but not A OK

Öyster selection is fantastic and service at bar is great. Beautiful place, but most other seafood plates are average at best. Come for the oysters!

I moved into the area and this is one of the nearby restaurants to my new home. I’m not been a big seafood fan, but Doc’s has been great to dive into experimenting around. It’s a comfortable setting. I’ve visited wearing a range of clothes from blazers/slacks to jeans/pullover and never felt out of place. The food quality is always top notch. They usually have some special items each month. Service has been solid and consistent. I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders always work hard to take care of everyone.

Calamari and Banana Peppers: ALLPEPPERS! Breading was oil soaked and soggy. Very small bowl to begin with and it was all filled with peppers. This place is nothing special at all.

I can’t believe all the high ratings for Doc’s. My guess is, they are not very seasoned restaurant goers. You come here on Monday Nights for their buck a shuck specials on oysters, and if you drink, seems like people love the bar area. The location of this restaurant is ideal for after work get togethers. The food and menu? Well, I think it’s hit or miss. I would go frequently and have their tuna. This was almost always good, prepared well. Ive visited here recently, twice in the last month and the food was average. I had their crab cake and the combination was yucky. The crab cake was okay, but they served it with a corn dish that was, well, burnt and covered with blue cheese. Very different, not good. On this night, the service was poor in that first they brought an appetizer, calamari(which was good), but then they brought the oysters, immediately followed by the dinners. I should have sent the dinners back to be returned at the appropriate time, but instead we let them set on the table and of course then ate the oysters rather rushed. Doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience. A few weeks later we returned and I tried the lobster roll. Now, I had this years ago when they first opened, I didn’t think much of it then, but what I had now was so much worse. The bun, which should be a buttery toasty fresh one, mounded with the lobster salad, was dry and quite stale. The lobster salad itself seemed to be 80% celery. The fries were lukewarm. Another example of how people will pay $ 20 plus dollars for a dinner that is just average. I was raised by parents who were from the depression era and I have tons of respect for how hard people work for their salary. It makes me crazy how young people just throw their $$ away, not being more discriminating. To me, If I am spending $ 28 dollars just on the entrée, it better darn well be good. Think about that. I will return here on ocassion, but I have no expectations on an out of this world experience. I will say that their management is top notch, if you let them know you are disappointed, they will try to remedy things by giving you a complimentary desert or a coupon to return for a free appetizer.

Hugely disappointing, coagulated clam chowder, and meager servings. I am a light eater but I had a dilapidated piece of fish of the day served with over cooked beans and left hungry paying way more than I should have

Delicious, quality food. Good service. I would have liked some bread for my bread plate.

Good food. Nice being able to watch the oysters being freshly shucked. Lighting in the restaurant is very bright and obnoxious. Restaurant is a little pricey.

Mehh. Just another chain. Lukewarm steamer pot and slow acknowledgment from server. Friendly service for sure, but it took some inducing to get them to wait on us. Best part of the meal was the free app we got for checking in on Unilocal. If I go back I think I’ll stay at the bar and stick to oysters and alcohol, since that’s what I’ve heard works at Doc’s. Because it seems after reading other reviews that they lack three major components: timely service, proper food temperatures, and lack of execution/inconsistencies with proteins and side dishes.

I went last winter. Wow! The food was great. The attention was fantastic… The food, very creative… I live in NY so getting hears is a vacation plan. But well worth it. The next best place to have seafood besides Boston… This is the spot… NY seafood dose not compare… I love this place. There food standers are very high. You will not be disappointed.

One Excellent grilled seafood salad…(you’ll see the yumminess, in photo) Had a abundant quantity of perfectly grilled seafood, very crisp greens, tasty fresh avocado, nice sharp blue cheese, followed up with A light lime-vinaigrette dressing, that I opted to switch from original dressing, which was a parmesan vinaigrette. Besides the salad being perfect, the service was awesome!!! Sadly can’t remember her name I think it could’ve been Erica(?) forgive me I was so taken back, with my salad… lol! Great conversation the atmosphere of the place was awesome, met the general manager Stephanie which was also friendly and nice to meet! I will definitely be going back next time, I’m in the area! I was happy to know they have one in Dover Delaware as well, which is close to home for me… I’m going to try that one too! Hoping they Live up to the expectation set forth by this amazing restaurant!

How can you not like a seafood brunch on the weekend? We had some oysters to start followed by a delicious lobster frittata and a smoked salmon Benedict that was outstanding. Really good coffee as well, all surrounded by a bluesy sort of old fish market atmosphere. I dig it.

Our entrees were amazing! The oysters and everything down to lavish chocolate desserts amazing. Delicious juicy Ocean scallops were amazing in the seafood alfredo, scrumptious lobsters, salads, sangrias. Our whole family had such an awesome time tonight and our server was the best. We were very well taken care of and accommodated and well fed. I was just blown away by the delicious food tonight!

I have been to docs more than 5 times. The ambiance is great I love the theme of the place and the mermaids painted on the outside and statues. I always get nervous with seafood so far away from the ocean. I always ask where the seafood comes from and when it was brought in. The staff here is extremely knowledgeable. They could answer all of my questions. I would run into one of the chefs at a local bar not far away from docs some nights really cool and down to earth guy and said he really enjoyed working there. The food is good. I have never had a bad meal here. I have had everything from a lobster roll to shrip. The last time I was there I had a spicy seafood pasta thing and it was soo goooooddd. Really spicy and everything was soft and nothing was chewy. They have a good selection of wine and they have a few different scotches. You can see them prepair the oysters and shuck them at the bar. I know the waiter told me they get them from all over bit he said mass and Maryland were where the oysters came from that night. If you are in the area I would def recommend going to docs. I will be back here in my future trips to the area. PROS: –good food –ambiance is amazing — friendly staff –good parking lot

Meh… To summarize how the night went, it started off high, dipped really low and then finished somewhere in the middle. A peak, valley and plateau if you will in terms of our dining experience. Allow me to explain. After getting seated right away, the waitress was very friendly and gave us the run down on the restaurant and drink specials. I had the Jim Beam ice tea thing which tasted just like iced tea with a hint of Beam in it. I mean it tasted exactly like iced tea so mission accomplished on that part. For an appetizer, we had the calamari which was excellent and I had the lobster bisque which was very creamy but oh so good. On to the entrée portion of the evening where things took a nose dive both food and service wise. I had ordered the seared ahi tuna tacos which were heavily doused in wasabi dressing. Mind you I enjoy wasabi but this was so much so that all I could taste was a hint of ahi and a whole lot of wasabi clearing out my sinuses. No seriously, if I ever have a winter cold, I will just come here and eat this dish as it will clear up any stuffy nose stat. So yeah, way to heavy on the wasabi. My girlfriend ordered the crab cake and steak entrée which was one of the most underwhelming items we both have had in awhile. I mean the crab cake was a crab cake, nothing special. The steak was cooked properly but didn’t have much flavor. And considering the entrée was $ 29 or so, one could get the same crab cake steak combo at an Outback for less and get more flavor out of both. In addition to our mediocre meal, we never saw the waitress again until we were finished with our meals and were waiting for about 10 minutes before she stopped to ask if we wanted dessert. She did not once come back to check on us after the entrée’s were dropped. The only interaction we had with the staff was from the bus boy, who cleared our dishes. And before you say maybe she was slammed with other tables because it was a busy Friday night, no, I saw her standing and talking to another server for a majority of the night. And finally we have dessert. Our server came out with an oar of desserts which you could choose from. All were served in small 4oz? glasses. The key lime was on point as well as the cookies and cream pie. Hence it made up for the sub-par entrée we had earlier. Would I return to Doc Magrogan’s? I really do not know. Part of me wants to give them a second chance but the other part of me says it’s overpriced for mediocre food and half-ass service. Hence the 3-star review as it started out 4-star strong, dropped to 2-stars during our main meal and finished around 3 stars after dessert.
