Upon arrival, I was greeted by the kind hearted soul I have ever encountered. I believe her name was Mary Lou. She kindly seated us at their most desired table. While being seated, Jonathan(who was our server), immediately brought us glasses of Cabernet. Then I noticed that they had the MOST wonderful salt & pepper shakers. They chose the six sided glasses instead of the usual eight. Nice touch. I pondered for a while if they knew I was a Unilocal critic, for which the reason being of the wonderful treatment. But I noticed that the whole place was blessed with the elegance of their wonderful service. When receiving our exquisite meal, we were offered complimentary hand and foot massages. Rose, my masseuse had the hands of a goddess who’s skills were intricately designed to pleasure others just upon the slightest touch. No but seriously this place is crazy good!!!

A good Local place with friendly service. Nothing fancy, just solid food. The kids had the granola and the pancake. Both were more than they could eat. I had the grande burrito which was huge. Not as flavorful as I would have preferred, but still pretty good. My wife had a biscuit, egg, bacon, and the tomato gravy. She really liked it. There was no wait and service was prompt. If you are looking for an upgrade over hotel buffet or a more substantial breakfast, you cannot go wrong here!

Stopped by the banks grill while on vacation. Wonderful grits! You have to try the biscuits with homemade jam.

PHENOMENAL!!! We had the«Lighthouse», the«Grande» burrito, and a short stack pancake. Did I mention the Homemade jams and hot sauce??? The Chef/Owner even seasons the grits how he believes you should eat them. He is absolutely correct by the way. We didn’t add a thing and they were possibly the best grits we’ve ever had! To say this is a must have on any trip even remotely close would be an understatement! Amazing service as well. Not fast, but certainly not slow and always perfectly polite.

This is a VERY good breakfast place — I just moved to the area from DC, and this place is a 10 out of 10. The omelettes are delicious, the biscuits are huge and fluffy and amazing(they even have homemade jam), coffee was great, and the staff is friendly. $ 10 and I’m stuffed. Expect to wait 30 minutes during peak times, but it’s worth the wait. HIGHLY recommended.

Biscuits & Gravy!!! This is a short drive from Atlantic Beach and worth the drive. Upon arrival it was clear this is a locals spot and for good reason. The service was friendly and courteous, old fashion well made breakfast. Three of us arrived for breakfast. I had eggs and xxl biscuits & gravy while the others had multi-grain hot cakes and a variety of breakfast meats. Everyone enjoyed their meal and multiple cups of coffee before we headed over to Shackleford Banks. Try this place you won’t be disappointed.

Back again and The Banks Grill never disappoints. Service this day was excellent as usual… fast and courteous. We were a table of ten so we had to wait a little while but it sure was worth it. Today I got the short stack of multigrain pancakes with chocolate chips, «magic» grits(as I call them), and home fries. If that sounds like a lot of food well it was. I could not finish it all but I sure tried. Everything was delicious but those pancakes were very filling! I heard not one complaint from anyone at our table so I hope they just keep doing what they are doing! Can’t wait to return.

Great little stop with great service. Had the Cajun fish(flounder) sandwich with some amazing home made tartar sauce. Friend had the special — Cajun omelet with crawfish, shrimp, andouille — looked amazing. Will definitely come back again if we are in the area!

If I could give this place 10 starts I would !!! My husband and I love to eat brunch after church and we came across this place very nice clean whole in the wall. Everything was fresh, good and the price is crazy cheap. I had two eggs breakfast with fired chicken home fires and the XXL biscuit my hubby had the chocolate chips pancakes and we order a cinnamon tool to share it was under 30 dollars! we will be coming back !

My husband and I were vacationing and decided to try out Bank’s for breakfast. Such a great choice! We went on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and it was quite busy but we were only waiting for maybe 10 minutes. The staff was super sweet and really quick. It’s a small place but very inviting and it feels like you grew up going there. The prices are great and the portions are too. My husband ordered the Island Style French Toast and couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was the rest of our day. It was 2 big slices of toast topped with a rum fried banana & your choice of breakfast meat. It filled him up and he can put away some food lol. The rum fried banana on top was such a great addition, my husband wanted another! I ordered the Jumbo Breakfast Sandwich. It was 2 fried eggs with melted cheddar cheese on top of your choice of meat(I chose southern fried chicken). You had a choice of it being on a biscuit or toast. I chose the biscuit and it was perfect. It was fluffy, buttery and a bit crunchy on the outside. It came with your choice of homefries or grits. I chose the homefries & they were perfect, the seasoning was a bit like bojangles but less salty. We really enjoyed our visit & will absolutely be back again with friends! Please go and support this business. Its still a small mom & pop place that deserves to be patronized. You will not be disappointed!

Some friends told us about this hidden local gem. You would never find it on your own. Just a great local diner atmosphere with a wonderful menu. They make these amazing pecan caramel cinnamon rolls that are out of this world and huge. And I mean huge. We all had regular breakfasts of eggs, bacon, cheese grits and biscuits. Perfect. The biscuits were huge and square and came with homemade strawberry and mango jam. Delicious. I have had better biscuits but they were good. They also have great looking special omelets and are also open for lunch. We may come back for their pimento cheese. Also on Saturdays they have homemade doughnuts and on Sunday beignets. Hmm sounds good.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. We often visit restaurants where it’s just obvious that they skimp on ingredients but this place definitely does NOT do that. There is some serious thought, passion, effort, and talent behind their menu. I just wish that we were in town for a little longer so that we could have breakfast there again AND try their lunch. We will definitely visit again on our next trip. Our server Rachel was so sweet and very passionate about their food. We ordered the BYOO(Build Your Own Omelette) with bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, and mushrooms with a side of grits. She told us to taste the grits before we added any butter or salt and she was right. They didn’t need anything and were delicious! Very creamy and indulgent. We also ordered the«Soon to be Famous» Cinnamon Roll and that was also great. We wanted to try the biscuits with gravy and the French toast so we will have to come back. I think they make pretty much everything there in house. Definitely one of the best breakfasts we have EVER had! Wonderful service, excellent food, and reasonable prices. A restaurant of this quality is a very rare find.

The Banks Grill NEVER disappoints! Even with a packed house, our wait was only about 15 – 20 minutes. Two huge burritos, one grits and omelette, one chicken and doughnut, and one island French toast later, the five of us left full, happy and ready to come back another weekend!

Amazing little gem! Really enjoyed our breakfast while vacationing on Atlantic Beach. Highly highly highly recommend the grits– best I’ve ever had. Perfectly creamy, and perfectly seasoned. Also, the big breakfast sandwich was delicious, would suggest the fried chicken as your breakfast meat. There is a reason the cinnamon roll is ‘soon to be famous’ … It’s absolutely delectable, covered in a rich pecan praline sauce. Our waitress Sarah was welcoming, and provided great service. Thanks for having us!

Can’t tell you enough how impressed we are either this place! The food is fresh, hot and delicious! The portions are huge and the prices are great! Love the beachy laid back vibe inside and the staff is super friendly & professional! I had chicken tenders(fresh, juicy, hand breaded) with some of the best mac n cheese I’ve had! Husband had the tropical chicken wrap with rice & beans, he’s hard to please and was very impressed! The homemade chips as appetizers are great!

When looking for breakfast, Banks is the place. We came here on a Saturday morning and it is located on a shopping mall by a Lowes food and Big Lots off of Arendell Street. There is a bustling open kitchen on the left side with a counter and a few high top chairs. You can either sit at the counter or tell the host or hostess you would like a table. The restaurant was full of local families and every seat was taken. The big chalk board on the left has the daily specials and donut flavors. The hours are 7:30 am to 2pm and you can get breakfast anytime. I had the Banks Omelette with creamy pimiento cheese, mushrooms, shrimp, green onions and ham. It comes with grits of home fries. It was the best shrimp omelette I have had and so worth the wait. The servers wearing the colorful Banks logo tshirts took great care of us with refills and it was neat to sit at the counter and watch all the action in the kitchen and creations coming out. You take your ticket and pay at the cash register. I would highly recommend this establishment for a filling and delicious breakfast.
