Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival

Crammed under a bridge, what’s not crammed is in mud. Lots of drunks, rip off games, junky rides, $ 5 soft drinks, lousy music and food you have to stand to eat while dodging people.

Good crowd good music lots of food. Good time for all.

OK, so I must preface this review by saying I never made it to the music or park area. We just made it to the part of the festival with rides, food and crafts.
We found parking underneath the bridge and had a short two block walk to where the rides were. There were all types of carnival rides for kids including a Ferris wheel.
The food area was packed with vendors selling every type of food known to man. I tried shrimp on a stick and a lamb gyro. Both were very good.
The craft area was large and had alot of vendors. Some of the crafts were junk but they also had some nice things. Glass jewelry, cypress chairs, cool art, etc. were all for sale.
The festival was crowded but people were friendly. My one complaint would be the smokers. I realize we are outside, but is it necessary to smoke so much in a crowded environment? I don’t want to breathe your secondhand smoke while trying to enjoy the festivities.
I would go again, and hopefully I will make it to the music area next time.
