I couldn’t disagree more about Dr. McDonald being uncaring or doing unnecessary work. He is a fine example of being upright and honest a hard find in the dental industry.

Do not trust this dentist! He is not there for customers best interest but only his own. Like the previous viewer said it’s all about him making profit off you. When I was younger, he took advantage of me and my parents by grinding down and filling everyone of my back teeth on top and bottom! I’ve been to two different dentists since then and they are shocked by what dr. McDonald had done to me. I didn’t know he was even a dentist still! He ruined my mouth for life!

I have been seeing Dr McDonald for over 2 decades. I completely agree with the L A review in that Lawrence is very gentle and kind but always professional. Arlene is always on top of appointments and the hygienist staff is excellent. I have been seeing Angela for years and she is always though, patient and cheerful.

I agree with the other reviewer, the staff is kind, polite & caring. I was VERY happy with the hygienist that cleaned my teeth. However I am concerned the Dr. recommended 2 unnecessary fillings, honestly for motives that could only be described with a dentist as experienced as him as «for profit». I went to him on an urgent basis because of a VERY recently developed gap between two of my teeth. But THE key issue was why that gap had appeared & what to do, especially because I was 80−90% toward recovery from an out of alignment jaw, the most likely & logical cause of that new gap. That gap that appeared despite a history of a perfect bite for 53 years. That recommendation for a filling came despite my appeal to him that perhaps we should wait now that my jaw was recovering to see if the teeth might move back into place. My appeal was met with the kind of «old school» Dr. attitude of, hog-wash«those teeth will never move back forward, we need to get you in right away to put fillings in». Now mind you, there were no cavities, just a couple teeth that had been perfectly aligned and tight until my jaw went out of alignment a few months ago. So I called one of the most respected dentists on the East Coast, who happens to be my brother-in-law. My first question after describing the history & situation to him, «is it possible that my teeth will move again, now that my jaw is back in alignment?». Answer… «absolutely! And by the way, I would never or only as a last resort put a filling on a tooth that has no cavity». Need I say more? The #1 attribute I demand from any medical professional is trust and to put their personal interest secondary to my health. So we will see how this turns out. If fillings were unnecessary, I will lower this rating to 1 star. If they were in fact urgently needed, I will raise the rating to 4 stars. Not 5 stars because a better bedside manner & respect for the viability of my question(intelligence) might have avoided this.

The whole office is wonderful! Caring and kind people. This is the kind of care that I grew up with in the midwest and I am thankful to have found it in Morgan Hill.

We’ve been seeing Dr McDonald for years. He is one of the gentlest people I know. Great with kids, better than most pediodontist I had taken my kids to. Great staff, hygienists and assistants. Love Arlene who always smiles. Great hometown feeling as soon as you enter the waiting room.
