Masala Kitchen Express

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I actually got their contact info from a friend who had catered his wedding from Masala Kitchen.
To start with we only ordered appetizers since we were looking at them to cater a private event in the family. The headliners for them are the lamb chops and chicken 65.
In short, both meats were excellently spiced yet tender and juicy. I am definitely coming back here for lunch or dinner in the future.
Lastly, shout out to Sam for helping us decide on the menu!

Ordered a meal for delivery while at a friends house. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Plain Naan for the entrees and a Chicken Kebab appetizer. Really really good food. Only reason for 4 stars is because prices seemed a bit expensive. Excited to try new dishes.

We ordered take out recently. The food was not bad at all, though not awesome. Also, the portions were pretty small for the amount of money we spent.

best indian food i had in monmouth county. I Went to the buffet on Friday, which was also very well made and the quality of the food was very good. Will definitely visit the place again.

Went there for lunch buffet, and it was simply great food. The tandoori chicken was melting in the mouth — so different from the stuff you get in other Indian places. That was just an example. Everything else was delicious too. Not doused in oil as happens in other Indian places. The buffet was comparatively pricey at $ 12.95, but well worth it. The only drawback I felt was that there was only one dessert (carrot halwa, in this case).

Buffet has good options for vegetarians & meat eaters. Veggie Samosa is delicious! My husband & I enjoyed the chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, & chicken curry.

Absolutely delicious! Tonight was our first time ordering from this place, as I didn’t know it existed. I saw that the larger restaurant had closed, and just discovered Masala Kitchen Express. First off, it was awesome to learn they deliver to our home in Marlboro. They were right on time, and the guy on the phone was patient and kind despite my questions and special requests. This is our new favorite delivery place! Superb.

I’m absolutely obsessed with their Chicken Korma with Garlic Naan. It’s a craving I can rarely resist. I just wish their prices were a tiny bit lower. However, I usually get two meals out of it… so It’s still a good deal. :) Every person I have encountered who works in this shop are super friendly and I’m never afraid to ask a «dumb question» as someone who is new-​ish to the cuisine.

Owner is very generous n kind to prepare anything to your likings, visited almost around 3 to 4 times so far. Best non veg buffet. I Would like to see biryanis in lieu of plain jeera rice to buffets and more desserts. Butter chicken and roti/​naan are my favs now. I wud want more dishes to add it to my fav list ;)

Not impressed tables were dirty portions small prices high for such small portion taste was 3.5 service/​clenliness 1 pricing 2 hence 2 star review i xont believe these are the same owners as the full service masala that closed down just using same name

Just ordered takeout and must say that I’m a fan. We used to patronize their main restaurant frequently prior to closing (even had a few birthday parties there where we rented half the restaurant). We were very disappointed to see our favorite Indian eatery in the Manalapan/​Marlboro area close.
Fast forward to discovering there «express» location. Checked out a few Unilocal reviews which did not scream «this place is awesome». Well I’m screaming «THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!».
We ordered the Keema Samosa — nicely spiced with the accompanying green chutney. The filling was excellently spiced.
Next was the Handi Goat Masala. I have to say, that after eating the samosa, I was a little disappointed. Then I continued eating and the dish really worked for me. Seems that this dish does not pair well with other foods. Eaten by itself, it is excellent… just don’t eat it with other dishes. I will definitely order again.
Then we had the Chicken Tikka Masala (for the kids primarily). This was again wonderfully prepared. The kids REALLY enjoyed it. For me… I’m more of a purist so I’m more into the spicy dishes. It’s good for a couple of bites. This dish plays well for the kids and those new to Indian food.
Finally we had the Saag Paneer — delicious. The individual components of this dish were prepared well and it came together into a savory vegetarian dish.
All of the above was enjoyed with tons of Naan… AWESOME.

We decided to give the new masala kitchen express a try again after meeting the owners at a mutual friends party. Well to our delight it was delicious! We orders the goat handi masala — goat pieces were soft and just the right masalas. We also got the palak paneer and the chicken ticka masala with onion kulcha and garlic naan both were excellent!
Keep up the good food and your business will continue to do well!

Used these guys for catering — holy smokes was it worth it!
We catered an event of about 250 people, and I ordered samosas as an appetizer, chicken tikka masala, paneer mutter, goat curry, nans, pulav rice as the main course, and gulab jamun for dessert.
I placed the order with Sunny, and he maintained communication with me throughout the week. Food was delivered earlier than required, and was well packaged.
First and foremost, the quality of the food was top notch. Our church has been using a few vendors now for food, and this was the first time we’ve changed it up. The people were pleasantly surprised, and we received many inquiries about the meal.
And almost as important — the quantity of the food was abundant. There were leftovers for each dish (and more than enough people volunteering to take home the precious remains).
The samosas where huge, crisp and delicious. They packed well so none got crushed. The chicken tikka had plenty of chicken, same with the lamb. Delicious and abundant. The gulab jam were large, and the best i’ve had at any restaurant. Most importantly they were hand hand made at the shop (I specifically checked for this — can’t stand it when I order dessert form a restaurant and get canned garbage).
Would use these guys again in a heartbeat. Talk to Sunny. He may cut you a deal if you’re nice. Seems to be an all around kind guy.

The negative reviews are spot on: the food here is mediocre at best, and the quality has done downhill appreciably since the restaurant’s relocation. It’s just about the only game in town as far as Indian cuisine goes, which I imagine is what is keeping them afloat.
Does not compare favorably to any of the joints 10 – 15 minutes up north in the Woodbridge and Iselin area.
If memory serves, I have ordered takeout from this place around 6 – 7 times or so. I do not plan to order in the future.

Quality Indian cuisine. There aren’t much Indian restaurants in the area so this was a pleasant surprise. Food was fresh, hot, and well prepared. Exactly what I expected. Everyone should definitely try out this place!

Awesome food! They catered our wedding 2 years ago and to this day we continue to receive compliments. Although a rather small establishment the management and the food are amazing. When selecting our entries for our wedding reception the owner, Nadir, went over his opinions and even prepared dishes we requested as well as a few suggestions of his own. His new establishment caters to those looking for a quick lunch, take out, or just relaxin with family or friends over a great meal. While writing this, my father in-​law asked one of the employees to sing as he is a former singer… wow!!! Awesome experience!
