Recently had a cheeseburger and fries at Collins in Morris Plains. Both were amazingly good, enough to want to write a very positive review. I’m not sure, but I think the fries were homemade which is surprising for standard pub fare. The burger was excellent, and cooked perfectly. The service was warm and friendly. Very loud though, more of a bar atmosphere than restaurant which is surprising the food was so good. Not a «pretty» restaurant but so what? Food way better than Arthur’s next door, and dare I say it? Better than the much newer Zinburger which specializes in burgers!

Cool Bar As a group of 4, we ate here twice last year. The downstairs bar area was quite noisy, so we headed upstairs. Great service and the food was good. Definitely value for money. If your just looking for drinks stay downstairs. It’s cool and comfortable. Thanks

Just had a delicious lobster dinner for $ 13.50, good beer, good atmosphere, minus the old geriatric at my table!

My boyfriend and I went to Collins while we were waiting for our train to come because why not indulge in a good beer during the wait? It was right after St. Patrick’s Day so we ordered a Guinness. The bartender was polite, albeit a bit slow getting the drinks, though she did make sure that our food came out to us pretty quickly once we said we were waiting for the train. My boyfriend, being from England and vacationing frequently in Dublin, said that while the Guinness wasn’t «Irish-quality,» it was still pretty tasty. The food was nothing special, but definitely tasty. It wasn’t really full when we were there but I would definitely consider going back for a beer or to watch some sports.

We came here because we were looking for a good happy hour with wings. Someone wrote about a wings and Yuengs special, but we saw nothing posted about that anywhere and our served didn’t mention it. Maybe it doesn’t exist anymore. Someone wrote these were the best wings in Morris County? I haven’t had many Morris County wings but I’d be surprised if these were it. They were alright but definitely too salty. The Reuben sandwich was good, but also very salty(but it’s a Reuben, so duh). Great beer prices, $ 2.75 for a Yuengling on a Wednesday at 6pm. Our server was nice, joined in our conversation and was friendly. Was knowledgeable about the beer. I’d come back for the beer(and beer prices!) but not the food.

Best wings in Morris County. Buffalo wild wings has nothing on this joint. Be sure to get the sauce on the side, it preserves the crispiness of the wings.

Have been here many times over the years with Morris Rugby peeps mainly for beers and to watch matches in the back room. I had the occasion to have a sit down meal last evening and thoroughly enjoyed the service as well as the ribeye. It was tender and cooked to my order. You could tell that there was the right amount of marbling as the taste was exquisite. If you go on a Monday be prepared for a crowd as it is lobster night. I saw plenty of those being served so maybe I’ll have to go back!

A wonderful town bar. Great bartenders, great burgers, wings and a steak, which Arthur himself admits is better. Good wing specials on Sunday NFL.

Great burgers — like the local pub atmosphere, but honestly — can’t you get real glasses? I feel like I’m at a college bar where they don’t trust you to have a glass of beer.

Blue collar bar with great prices for drinks. Steaks all come out medium well, even if you order rare. So, just go for a cheap divey drink if you’re in the area

I’m updating my review because i really like this place ! Just posted pix — went on 4th of July long weekend — everything is great, food always good, but you know it’s Pub Food so if you want a Kale Salad go someplace else — service friendly and fast, prices are incredible, they have a juke box, lots of big screen TVs with all the Sports games, its low key and a bit divey, but excellant if you want to hang out and be casual without any pretension, Collins is perfect. The review below about the server crusing is ridiculous, i’ve only had pleasant experiences with delicious food. And, they have a Lobster price special on Monday nights– what a deal !

I went to Collins a couple times on my trip to visit family in New Jersey. It seems like a great local bar. I had several drinks the first visit but forgot the kitchen is closed from 2:30 to 5:00. Today I stopped in for some hot wings and beer before my flight and I was not disappointed. I will most definitely go back for more wings and beer.

What kind of bar/want to be restaurant allows their staff members unprovoked to swear, yes swear,(drop the F bomb) at their customers? This one! I am a mild mannered person and didn’t see this one coming. The staff member incorrectly assumed that I was part of the spillover crowd from Arthurs looking to use their bathroom and seating for free. Not the case! I was waiting for my friend to use the bathroom before joining our 8 other friends at the bar who were already drinking. In fact we had already had a WONDERFUL dinner at Arthurs and were coming to Collins for a venue change to settle in for a few drinks and to watch the hockey game on TV. A waitress(or manager??) not sure came over to ask me if I was going to order something. I told her, «no, I am just waiting for my friend who is using the bathroom». Then she proceeded to yell at me and say that I can’t sit there and not order anything and come in and use their bathroom for free. She said that my friend should use the bathroom at Arthurs not there? Really??? I get that Collins may not be able to bring in people on their own accord and perhaps they do have folks come in and try to use their bathroom for free — — - but A) we were not doing that and B) The way that she spoke to me was completely unmerited. I didn’t appreciate her false accusation and said firmly but certainly without expletives, «excuse me but we are not waiting for dinner at Arthurs. We already ate dinner at Arthurs and came here with 8 other people to watch the game» Then she said to me, «Well, how the F&%$# am I supposed to know that?» Yes, this is what she said to me. What’s worse is she followed with telling me that I could wait for my friend outside and pointed to the back door. Yes, that is what she said to me. I was really at a loss as to how an employee could treat a patron like that particularly when I and the nine other people that I was with were doing nothing wrong. Moreover, the majority of the group I was with were all born and bread Morristown folk who have frequented Collins for years. So, when my friend got out of the bathroom I told him what had happened. He had heard the woman screaming when he was in the bathroom but never imagined it was at me. We walked back to the bar area and joined our friends and my friend asked me which woman yelled at me. I pointed her out and he went up to her to ask her about the confrontation. He pointed to our group of ten who were all drinking and reiterated that we were not using their bathroom for free and that she shouldn’t have used such foul language with me. Then she proceeded to tell my friend that she didn’t yell at me or even talk to me. Yes, she completely denied saying anything to me at all. Then my friend said that he didn’t think that this was true because he heard her. She then said to him«Get out of my face or get out of my bar». Yes, this is what she said. And it is not like my friend was«in her face» he was standing four feet away from her. After that he said that we would be leaving and that he would never come to Collins again. She said«Good». What should have happened is that she should have apologized to my friend and to me and said, «I am sorry, I did not realize that you were here as part of a group and let me offer you a beer or something to apologize» Nope she basically once again told us to «Get out of her bar» We told the larger group what was going on and they were all shocked and appalled so all agreed to leave with drinks unfinished. I then told this«lady» that I am Unilocal elite(2014, and 2015) and planned on writing a very negative review. She didn’t seem to care too much and her expletives at me and our group continued. I am Unilocal elite and don’t throw that around a lot, but I was nominated as a result of my honest reviews that I have provided for business establishments throughout the years. You will notice that the majority of my reviews are 5 and 4 stars. I believe in promoting good businesses. You will also notice that four months ago I reviewed Collins and gave it a three star rating so this review is an update to that one. I have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant and coming from a New Yorker that says a lot. If you are reading this review to decide whether or not you should go to Collins then DONOTGOHERE! Go to Arthurs or go to Tif’s or go ANYWHERE but here. Do not promote a business that treats their patrons so horribly. My other friends intend to write negative reviews as well. If this woman is not the owner she should be fired for the way she treated us!

I have been here just once, but can definitely say it was a great experience. The atmosphere is welcoming along with the friendly staff. The food is awesome. We got the Caesar salad and steak sandwich, which I would highly recommend.

This is my husbands favorite bar! It gives off the«Cheers» vibe — «Where everyone knows your name». Great place to have a drink and watch the game. The bar manager is great ! Service is great! So why not a 5 star rating? The food! The food is edible but it is all frozen. The bar manager and I have finally figured out how to get their cook to give me a medium burger, ask for medium rare! Plus she or my husband supervises… Great local bar but do not expect great food!

I had a lot of expectations of this place especially since reading the reviews. My intention in coming here was to try the burger. I came with my wife and her grandmother. It was our night out the day before Valentine’s because we can only get a babysitter tonight. We started out with the appetizer sampler which contained mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, chicken tenders and potato skins. It was nothing special but I tasted a weird after taste which I easily let go. It tasted like the oil they fried the chicken tenders, mozzarella stick, and wings was old and nasty. I decided to order the rueben which also tasted like the same old oil smell was a joke. spend your money elsewhere.

Collins Bar & Restaurant is an old school, local bar with almost no charm and bare bones décor. Pros: *inexpensive food… I mean almost questionable. Burger for $ 5…and yeah toppings are extra but I ordered their Texas Burger(bbq sauce, cheese and bacon) and it was cheap… *good service… place is small. Handful of seating and bar has stool seating which can add a few more people. So unless you are seated all the way in the back room, you will get good service. They have their eye on you. *inexpensive brews… IPA that would normally go for $ 6 a pint was only $ 4.25…and not happy hour prices either. Cons: *musky smell, dingy looking dive bar feel. *inexpensive food = cheap cuts of meat… burger was most disappointing in recent memory… and yes you get what you pay for… wife’s Reuben was average… the meat was thickly cut… not good flavor either. *too local of a crowd. This is a 1 and done place… for food… Could be a good spot for drinks with the boys and wings… both were inexpensive…

Open the door on the left to a friendly neighborhood joint with great craft beer on tap and inexpensive good food. Just $ 4.25 for a fine pint of New Jersey Flying Fish IPA, you can’t beat that with a stick and that was regular price, not happy hour! And it’s a bright clean place, not a dive in any way. A Friday-night special of fish and chips was $ 10, served crispy and insanely hot, straight from the fryer. An open-face sandwich of sliced roast beef was covered in gravy and served with a side of the big french fries, yummy and a steal at $ 8. The food was plain but served with a smile and very quickly too. Portions were quite reasonable so go ahead, get that appetizer. It’s a small menu, with burgers, sandwiches, salads and a couple of steaks. Different dinner special every night of the week tho. Vegetarian rating: well, sorry for the bad news, but 1 star. The only veggie option is a grilled-cheese sandwich; every single salad has meat on top which I’m sure you can order without, but still. There are multiple TVs, didn’t notice any music, when it gets full you can still talk. I wish I lived within walking distance of Collins Pub! Will definitely be back, hopefully on a Thursday bcos that’s meatloaf nite :) So I’m with Steve S, this definitely earns 5 stars for amazing value, friendly service plus interesting craft beer on tap.

What a great local place, it’s small and cozy, nice sized bar, great menu. The music wasn’t too loud hear but the place was almost full and loud on the Friday evening we came in for dinner with a group. We stuck to beer for the most part, $ 10 Yuengling pitchers. I ordered the NY Strip Steak medium rare with a baked potato, it was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful… awesome, especially for the price. The wife had a burger with cheese and some fried onions, it was supposed to be medium but came out slightly bloody, she ate it anyway because it was that good. This place is a gem, it makes you feel like your in a different time when your here. Simple good food and drink; with a group of friends, that’s all you need.

Where can you get a Grade A quality burger for $ 5??? Cheap beer, good burgers, dive bar atmosphere — thumbs up! I had a cheeseburger with sauteed onions and a Guinness. My husband had a steak that was only $ 17 and he was in heaven.
