Wine tasting was great. There’s a restaurant inside as well. We came for the wine and we were not disappointed.

Good food, decent wine. Fun place to visit or have a meal, set up for family, friends, or a crowd. Lots of seating options. Decent food with fresh ingredients, more fast casual. Zero complaints.

I went home over the weekend to Pilot Mtn and my dad, boyfriend and I drove to Mt. Airy to have dinner. I had never been to this establishment so I was exicted to try out a new place. It was very nice inside with lots of woods used throughout the resturant. The food was great. I had Pork Bellys which lets face it, theres nothing healthy about bits of fried fat, but it was very delish!!! It came with a side of cheese grits and leeks which I changed out for Pasta Salad. The pasta salad could of used some jazzing up. there was only pasta, cheese, and a green in it, so it was bland. The cheese grits were amazing and had a great texture. The only suggestion that I would make other then the change in pasta would be to change the dinner plates, they were like white plastic and really didn’t fit with the style of the beautiful place and kinda made the food presentation look cheap and cafferita like.

This place was packed but we were able to snag a spot at the bar. Our server was very young but she was so knowledgeable about the wine. Cuban sandwich was good. Dinner menu looked good so will have to go back and try.

I came here for lunch while my alcoholic partner sampled the wine selection. Decent lunch menu; an assortment of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and wraps. It’s a bit pricey. I ordered some sort of roast beef sandwich. With chips and a drink, $ 11. It was supposed to have horseradish sauce on it, but I couldn’t taste any. Just tasted like grease. Standard side item is a bag of chips. Not very creative. This is one of those tip-in-advance establishments. I don’t do that, and the girl at the register was a bit snotty about it. If she hadn’t slammed my food and utensils on the table with such an attitude I may have gone back and tossed a dollar or two in the tip bucket. But she did, so I didn’t. Mediocre food, prices on the high side, and marginal service. I am not likely to return.

We didn’t order food, but we did a wine tasting and ordered wine, and the service was phenomenal. Our wine server was very friendly and attentive. There is a large wine selection; something good for everyone, and we liked them all! She even added some extra samples of new wines she wanted us to try.

Drove up for the Andy Griffith town anniversary. Stumbled across this place. Walked in for a late lunch and there were not many people inside. But to our surprise the food and service was good. Small menu of sandwiches and salads you order at a counter. Self serve soda. There is a wine bar for tastings. I guess they have entertainment during the week but not on weekends. We would visit again.

Such a kind and knowledgable staff! Tyler, Taylor and savannah went out of their way to help me find a wine that best suits my taste. Wine is excellent. The only winery where I will even consider drinking sweet wines; I typically prefer dry wines. I am obsessed with restless soul and I love the fish hippie products. A few years ago they had a beautiful red wine with a pirate logo… as an ECU alumni… I gave it as gift for all my fellow pirates for wedding, graduation, baby, holiday, and birthday gifts. I’m not in mount airy as often as I wish but great local artist plays a couple times a week. Don’t leave town before indulging in a glass or two from this amazing NC winery!

Stopped in for a wine tasting on a hot summer day and was greeted with a wonderful cool casual relaxing afternoon. Staff was welcoming and very knowledgeable. We felt transported into an atmosphere of comfort and old home feel. Regrettable we had already eaten lunch but several patrons had plates around us and the food looked and smelled delicious. Our next trip we plan to eat as well as taste. What a treat in the middle of all the tourist attractions of Mayberry town

Stopped in for some wine and(late) lunch, right after the kitchen closed. What timing! But the cook was behind the bar and said it was open as long as he was there — Awesome! The sandwiches were tasty and the wines were even better. Wish I lived closer or it’d be a regular hangout. Looking forward to returning!

My friends and I were looking to head out of Chapel Hill for the day and found this lovely little gem over in Mt. Airy. I think we had a really unique experience since we went during the winter in the middle of the day on a Sunday. The atmosphere at the time was really chill. It was very quiet and warm feeling. But apparently at night it gets really hoping with live music and stuff. We went up for the wine tasting and it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend the option that allows you to taste all of the sweet and semi-sweet wines. One of my friends got the option where you get only three glasses, which didn’t seem worth it. Reasons why I loved it: 1. The taste. I didn’t have a glass I didn’t like while I was there! I even joyed the reds, which I don’t normally. 2. Local. I love supporting local businesses so it was awesome that all of the grapes and wine were picked and made local. 3. The staff. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the wine and had a great personality. She 100% added to the experience. She even took us down into their winery, which is located below the bar. It was a very unique and exciting experience. 4. Location. Mt. Airy is a really nice, small town and can stroll around afterwards. TL;DR: I cannot WAIT to back.

This place has a nice space. The atmosphere was a bit odd, but maybe since we were there during lunch that played into it. It is a big open area with some tables which feels like more of a brewpub, but the bar’s focus is definitely on the wine. They have a deli counter across from the bar, but they also have a menu for tapas. The wine was pretty decent. We did the basic dry tasting, so maybe some of the better ones are on the deluxe tasting. The beers were all very good. I was a little disappointed that a place which says it is winery & brewery seems to downplay the beer quite a bit. No taps at the bar. They mention them on the chalkboard menu, but that is about it. Hopefully the brewery half will be a little more realized next time we visit.

The wine was amazing but the service was slow and a little lazy. I went their on a trial wine tasting, the muscadine wines were very tasty. All in all ill buy the wine in the store and not go back for the service.

We went to Old North State Winery yesterday. We had a Living Social deal and they treated us extremely well. The staff behind the bar were friendly and knowledgeable. Last but not least, the wine was really great!

We phoned about a year ago when we were in teh area to see if they had any craft-brewed beers. The fellow said they normally did, but they were«out.» So, we went elsewhere. On Saturday afternoon, 01÷12÷13, we phone again and were assured they had several — and the employee listed them over the phone. we arrived about 5pm and were told«our kegerator is down» — and it had been down all day. Sheeesh. Having been deceived, we tried the wine — which was drinkable, but certainly nothing special, unusual or tasty.(I would have liked to try the cabernet but they were out of that too!) We saw some food come out of the eatery on the other side of the dining hall [must be a different business — two different health inspection reports were posted], but rather than eat there(and further disrupt the employee’s personal conversations), we elected to leave. Folks, this one place you can just pass on by – knowing you have not missed anything! I’m going to be charitable(and very generous) and give ‘em a «2.»

We added Old North State to our wine tour this year. I really enjoyed their Restless Soul red blend at a wine festival before and I like that they have a brewery and a beer tasting in addition to the winery and wine tasting. The beer tasting is 4 good size tastings of pilsner, IPA, pale ale and Hefeweizen for a little over $ 3. I tasted my friend’s Hefeweizen and enjoyed it. They have 3 wine tasting options — Riedel Reserve, Dry Wine, and Semi-Sweet & Sweet wine. I went with the Riedel Reserve tasting that included a Malbec, the Trio blend(Cab Franc, Syrah, and Malbec), Tannat, and Purple Haze(a dry red blend of Malbec, Cabernet, Merlot, and Tannat served chilled). They also let us taste the Restless Soul. I enjoyed all of the wines I tasted — if you like red wine(not muscadine) — you will probably enjoy this. The wine glass that you can get here is the nicest I have seen at the NC wineries. This winery/brewery is in downtown Mt. Airy and is also a restaurant with seating out front in a covered area and inside. It’s a little confusing inside — the bar is on the right and the deli is on the left and there’s a stage and open area in the back for a band. If you want to do a tasting — go to the bar and let them know… the bar was busy so they pulled 2 tables together for us. I think most people were eating when we were there and it was pretty busy but our tasting was managed well.

I loved this place(and Mt. Airy in general). The selection of wines & beer is really good, but the friendly atmosphere of this winery/brewery is what really sets it apart. The beer was particularly impressive(order the pale ale). On the food side, we only ordered a meat & cheese platter, which was average; nothing inspiring about it. But again, I left this place making new friends and fond memories. If that sounds like a good time to you — visit Mt. Airy NC.
