Walker’s Soda Fountain

Such a cute place! Really authentic «drug store soda fountain» from the 50s feel ! Had a BLT (simple but they made it just right) and a cheer wine ice cream soda which was excellent! Great friendly service and lunch was only $ 14! Definitely a must in Mt Airy!

Milkshake — 5 stars. They’re great, enough said.

Here’s what happened as I sat and waited for ten minutes to be acknowledged…
Employee #1 — went outside and was gone for 5+ mins
Employee #2 — stood at the cash register doing nothing but waiting
Employee #3 — stood behind the counter doing nothing. After we flagged her down and asked her something she responded «I can’t take orders» and resumed her musings about life in a small town and the dreams she harbored about one day leaving it all behind
Employee #4 — magically appeared after 10 minutes and took our order and made a couple good milkshakes!
Just didn’t do it for me. I thought Mt. Airy was supposed to be this great small town filled with friendly folk and great customer service, but it was mehhh

Walked in just to get a milkshake, and it was delicious. Creamy and just the right balance of everything. Yummy!

Walker’s is a blast from the past. It is rare to find a soda shop in business. I enjoyed sitting at the counter, just like in ye olden days. Walker’s makes a great milkshake!
