Hostetter True Value Hardware

My best friend lives in Mount Joy and whenever we come to visit, we enjoy making trips to JB Hostetters for all of our hardware needs! A local hardware shop with everything you could possibly imagine, this place is great for every project and household need you can imagine.
They have a large selection of rental equipment for whatever you’re working on — and the rates aren’t too bad. This is a huge savings for folks who don’t want to invest in something like a auger or a rotoriller, yet enjoy doing projects that require them. You can even rent things like dunk tanks for your next summer event!
The only drawback is the pricing — things are a little bit more expensive here, but that comes with the territory of being local. It’s nice to know the money is going to a local business. It’s a lost art, the local hardware store, so it’s nice to see this shop is thriving in this area!

I just have to give kudos and re-​post the other reviewer’s notes and beg you to avoid Lowe’s and Home Depot’s corporate smack-​down on their workers and their customers… Get some customer service and :
«Small Town America — listen up. THIS IS WHAT YOU USED TO HAVE. This is a small town’s version of a WalMart — they have everything under one roof — but aren’t there to gouge you or put anyone out of a job, (unlike the aforementioned atrocity of a corporation). Need some art supplies, a key made, a color tv, some ice cream, a new blender, and some xmas decorations? All under one roof. Boo yah.
This family owned hardware store is so much more. I try to give them as much business as I can. I know they’ve been in this rea for a while and I hope they stay.
*In the warmer season, their greenhouse and live plant selection is the best in the area with great prices.

This is what sales & service should be. Why go to a huge store to save a few cents, but get no help with what you need? If you need a screw, nut or bolt for a job, the employees will help you find EXACTLY what you need for the project you need it for. Unlike trying to find an employee in a big box store, than being directed somewhere in aisle 17. If you are building a home, or repairing a picture frame, you get treated with the same care & importance. I was in a competitor that had an entire box of 3″ screws in the spot of the 1.5″ screws & told a store personnel. He did not act surprised at all, & said he would check that out later… after he got off the website he was on! Never once did he ask me if I needed help, but he did thank me for finding an employee’s mistake. I imagined if I sent my son or daughter in for a few screws of a certain size, at HOSTETTERS they would have came home with what I needed, at the competitor, I would have had to WASTE my own gasoline more than once, go through a return paperwork hassle, & lose valuable time in which I needed to fix my project. Customer service, the way it was when people used to seem to care, & still is.

This place has become a staple in my life since I have moved to Mount Joy!
Whether you need paint, mulch, a screen repaired, nuts and bolts, a dog leash, or a television, Hostetters has it, and so much more!
This your small town, one stop shop store for all your needs as a homeowner. Although they have everything, they really do specialize in hardware and tools.
Sure you can make the half hour drive to Lancaster to save a few cents on your hardware or tools, but what are you losing? You are losing valuable time, gas money, and the knowledge that the employees of Hostetters has on seemingly any project that you are doing!
If you go the the big box store, and ask for someones recommendation on how to do a specific project, or the differences between on brand vs. another, you are probably speaking to someone who knows more about beating Razorgore the Untamed than whatever your are speaking to them about. But at Hostetters, you are guaranteed to find somebody who knowledgeable about whatever project your are trying to complete!

Fantastic family owned local «get everything under one roof» kinda shop. Hardware is just a small part of what they have.
