This used to be one of my favorite low key places. They had the best wings I had ever had. Went there today and we were the only two people in the place. Normal and we liked that. They have changed there wing sauces from when we used to come and they are not as good. Also the batter is different. Super disappointed. Also it took about 35 mins to get our food… we were the only two people in there. This used to be a destination for us and now it’s a place we will probably skip. Their bleu cheese dressing is still good.

I had a work conference at Soaring Eagle this weekend and after a string of terrible meals in the casino, we decided to go into town for a decent experience. It seemed like every place in town was closed on Sundays. Unilocal led us to Blue Gator and boy, we got lucky! Our awesome server, Katie, recommended her favorites. We took her advice and ordered the Boom Boom Shrimp Po’ boy. It was incredibly delicious. The cilantro-jalapeño slaw that dresses the sandwich sounded like something I might like, but it was just perfect. The blackened chicken salad was delicious with fresh ingredients and perfectly grilled chicken. We enjoyed watching the Lions game on the huge screens in front of us. We had excellent service. This is a bar that during the day might scare you off thinking its kitchen isn’t special– but you’d be missing out.

The blue gator is a great spot to get food or drinks in Mt Pleasant. I have been going there my entire college career and have never had bad service and everyone working there is so friendly. Would recommend this spot to anyone in the area

Had the jambalaya and it was very tasty. Way too much meat for me. I would have liked half the meat and more rice and veggies. Very nice employees too. Hoping to try the gumbo soon.

Went to the Gator for the first time with a roommate on a Thursday night, and was surprised by the dance floor/rave that they had going on, not what expected to find at a bar. Pretty cool

I was most recently inaccurately charged $ 20 for two single shot mixed drinks of bottom of the barrel liquor. Half the bartenders only pour half shots in mixed drinks. I’m not expecting more than a shot of course, but they pour the liquor simultaneously with the mixer in order to give the illusion that you’re getting a full shot, but it ends up being more like a half shot. The bouncers are very eager to grab drinks off the table before you’re done. Most recently, my half-full drink was taken from in front of me. I asked for a new drink and was denied. I asked again, and his idea of rectifying his mistake was to get me a glass of only tonic water. I don’t have unattainable expectations for customer service, but the wait/bartending staff at the Gator is mostly a joke.

27 years ago my then girlfriend and I would come to Richards pub for the«pub burger» which was hands down the best burger in Mt Pleasant. Fast forward 27 years later we walk into The Blue Gator with our 4 kids and see they still have the original pub berger on the menu! We got the gator bites for an app which were. We also got burgers and they were fantastic! Bloody marry bar with homemade basil infused vodka(with a heavy pour from our waitress didn’t hurt).

What a treat it was to find somewhere with Cajun style food in Mt. Pleasant. Word of warning though, the real Cajun style food is only available at dinner so wait till then if you want crawfish. I had the muffaletta. Which was gigantic! It was also farily good. Not as awesome as the one I had down in New Orleans, but I had realistic expectations and this beat them. I also ordered fried pickle chips. I’ve had these plenty of places but this is the first time I’ve had them with home made beer batter. I’ll admit I still prefer the cornmeal style but they were well done in their own right. Bravo. The place itself is large and full of TV’s. It would be an ideal place to watch the Lions lose to the Packers. I’m kidding, I’m kidding… a little. Service was great. Liquor selection was ok though since I was on a work lunch I couldn’t partake so prices I’m not sure about. All in all, not too shabby.

While O’Kelly’s had very favorable reviews from fellow Unilocalers, I opted for something downtown to watch my Chippewas play The Orange from Syracuse recently. Thankfully, the beer, cider, food, and waitstaff were outstanding ’cause the Chips got spanked real bad. Mallory, our server, provided the history of the bar as well as making recommendations from the large choice of tap beers. My buffalo wrap & fries complimented my Grapefruit Perrin … ‘woohoo!‘ Looking forward to my next visit to Mt. Pleasant and actually digging into the New Orleans inspired choices on the menu.

Stopped by here on my way up north for the weekend. My initial impressions were very positive. The restaurant was very clean and fairly busy. It was very much what you’d expect of a sports bar. The service here was top notch. Our server, Ryan, was very helpful and attentive. He was able to answer questions about the menu and brought samples of the«Boom Boom» sauce and of a couple of beers that I hadn’t tried. He stopped by the table with regularity, not too often, not too infrequently. The service was the star of the show. I had the shrimp po’ boy, which was kind of disappointing. The shrimp fried and coated in the«Boom Boom» sauce was very nice, the cilantro slaw was tasty(although very sparse). The bread used for the sandwich was so soft it almost seemed like it wasn’t baked thoroughly, a real letdown. This sandwich definitely needed some crusty bread. Better bread is all that’s keeping this from being a 5 star sandwich. The waffle fries that come with the sandwich were super tasty. My dining companion ordered the Voodoo wings, which were very good. The beer selection was excellent, lots of variety on the taps and a pretty nice bottle selection. The one real issue that I had with this experience was the amount of time it took to get our food. It was almost 45 minutes from order to table. Way too long considering we were just stopping in for a quick bite to eat. I would recommend this place, but would avoid the po’ boy. Get the wings, maybe try some of the Cajun dishes on the menu which looked promising.

The food was amazing when it finally reached the table… Took way longer than it should have especially since there were only 2 tables with guests in the entire bar. Our server, Kristie, was very kind And apologetic. The shrimp po boy was the best!

Stopped in on a early Sat afternoon. Everything about this place is 4 or more stars except the burgers. The burgers were good, so what kept them from being great you ask? They are typical machine formed burgers on a boring bun. Friendly service and interesting atmosphere. Excellent beer selection with many Michigan micro breweries represented.

I went here with my boyfriend after getting no service at The Bird for 20 minutes. The Blue Gator was busy, but we got service right away. The food was good, too. Go here.
