I could not have been more disappointed with our visit here. Drinks were ok, not bad but not great-but very expensive. At least make the quality match the price… Our food was served poorly. My fish was cold, as well as the potatoes. My wifes filet mignon was over cooked, also served with cold potatoes… We celebrated our Valentine’s dinner here, we dropped $ 90. and left there wishing we had just gone to Applebee’s for half off apps

The Steak Tips were very tender and had good flavor. Not a huge helping, just the right amount. I had the IPA draft and thought it was excellent. Service was great.

We were in town for a concert and found this place advertised on our hotel key card. The hotel clerk also told us it was the best restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. The place had beautiful atmosphere, decorated for the holidays and warm and cozy on a very cold day. The menu had a great selection of foods and my husband did the make your own pasta selection having penne with a Cajun sauce, sausages, scallops, and all the vegetables. He loved it. I ordered the mushroom bisque(yummy) and side dishes of broccoli and wild rice. I’m a vegetarian and this is my go to when I visit restaurants and don’t want a full meal. Everything I had was tasty and super cheap. We also ordered one drink each, I don’t remember what specifically but there was a good amount of alcohol in mind, not watered down so I got my money’s worth. Our waiter was Dylan, he was a gentleman, funny, and attentive. Our only complaint was that it was too warm I the restaurant with both the heater and the fireplace. We are rarely in the area but we would definitely come back here.

Good, local brewery food is above par, but prices are too. Worth it if you want a local place or a drink with friends

The beer is well below average compared to all the great beer in Michigan. The food is not well prepared and way over-priced. People go there, but more due to lack of options than because this place is worth it. The service is usually friendly — as are most people in Mount Pleasant. But you’re better off going somewhere else that is serving other Michigan craft beers and better food.

Might be the best flight deal I’ve seen, you got 6 flights of 6oz for only 10,99, which was pretty sweet, I liked almost all the beers, loved the IPA and the raspberry wheat, red ale was probably the weakest, plus they sell beer to go, both 6 packs of one, and make your own, didn’t get to try any of the food sadly, but i liked the interior, very cabiny, and there were lotsa TVs to watch games, my favorite brewery in Mt Pleasant

We haven’t eaten here in a couple years because the last few times were only so-so. If you can eat outside, it is a great atmosphere. Save room for dessert!

The food is worth two, maybe three stars(it’s average at best), but the service makes this establishment unbearable. I wanted so badly to like Mountain Town, as the beers are okay and the dining area offers a unique ambiance, but the lack of quality/flavor in the food served and complete lack of competence by their waitstaff is unacceptable. Our last visit was exactly that, our LAST. After being seated by a very pleasant hostess, we waited for approximately 20 minutes and never had a waiter/waitress come to greet our table, bring waters, or take our orders. An effort was made to get the attention of a waiter/waitress, but to no avail. If it had been busy, I’d have demonstrated more patience, but with the dining area not even 1⁄3 full, our family opted to retreat and pursue dinner elsewhere. After four visits and consistent failure, it’s safe to say we won’t be back.

I was a little hesitant to come here based on the reviews but I’m glad we came. The parking lot was packed which we later learned was due to the train ride that apparently starts and ends at Mountain Station. We came on a Saturday after going to the CMU game. The place was busy but we were seated right away. I tried the Raspberry Wheat beer and thought it was good. The dinner was very good as well. I thought the overall food and experience was very good. I would certainly come back here again.

The restaurant is very average. The food is decent, but nothing exciting. It’s a typical brewery.

The salad with the apples was great as was the salad dressing. I had the Cajun chicken pasta which was done well. I’m looking forward to trying more dishes.

Had a group of six, four of whom were visiting so we chose to take them here. We got two salads, three wraps, and the brisket melt. Again, the brisket was very dry and there was not much flavor. The prime wrap was decent but all the horseradish mayo was packed into just one or two bites. Their bread is always nice, and the beer good as well. The big issue was that we came at 6pm and the place was pretty empty. Three hosts and a manager working upfront, a good amount of servers on the floor. Somehow, it took them well over ten minutes to clear a table for us to sit in outside, and another ten or so until our server actually came over to us. He eyed us a few times while going in and out, and then said«someone will be right with you» — it was eventually him. It almost seems like management seated the table but there were communication problems as to who was the server.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a delicious IPA made right here in town. They also have the most impressive wine selection I’ve seen in central Michigan. It will be my stop for good wine as I make my way up north. The dinner went smoothly, the food was ok, better than most places in town, just a little too rich for my tastes. The chicken Asiago Alfredo would have been best served as a side to grilled steak, fish, or chicken. It was so cheesy that eating a whole portion of it would have clogged my arteries for sure. The pecan crusted walleye was good also, but the coating was so much that it really masked the the thin fillet completely. Disappointing because I love walleye and don’t usually get an opportunity to enjoy it unless in Michigan. The salmon was also good, but again the sauce was overpowering and the salmon lost the spotlight. The sweet potatoes were delicious and the salad fresh and tasty. The wild mushroom soup was a little bland and the mushrooms large and chewy. Adding some espagnole sauce and cracked pepper would take this soup to the next level for your guests. Just saying. So if I were to go back, which I probably will, I would order simpler items from the menu. Grilled meats and fish, and share the Asiago Alfredo pasta as a side for many to enjoy, and drink more Iron Horse IPA.

Go there for the beer and the atmosphere. The food is nothing to write home about. The special was a Bloody Mary steak with blue cheese. Sounded delicious. Was so fatty half ended up in my napkin. Same goes for the ribs that my family had. Our server, Jade, was excellent. The beer sampler was a nice size but disappointing since they were out of two of their most popular microbrews.

Meh, this place leaves a lot to be desired. From the beer to the food everything is easily forgettable. BRISKETISNOTSMOKED Pros– The service was great and there was no wait on a busy weekend. Cons– run of the mill beer, lack of beer selection, avoid the brisket. We stopped in because we always go to breweries and this was supposedly one. The atmosphere leans towards the restaurant side as opposed to the brewing. If it wasn’t for the kettles I wouldn’t have known they prided themselves on beer. After tasting it, I wouldn’t have known they pride themselves on their beer either. To be fair, I’ve had a lot worse. But it seems every Tom, Dick, and Larry brew beer now and that’s what makes the beer lack luster. They covered all of the basics that you’d look for in offering beer. They had a beer for pretty much everyone’s palate, but not a beer that you’d order twice. From a food stand point, I was not impressed with my brisket sandwich. When you label something as «bbq pit» and offer brisket, I feel it is reasonable for one to expect it to be of the sliced nice and smoked variety. Not the case. It is cubed and roasted like pot roast. It took me back to eating at my grandma’s house when she’d make some awful roasted meat that I’d eat blindly… guess that was slow roasted bbq pit brisket. I’ll take some blame for not reading close enough… some blame. My wife had the chicken fajitas and they weren’t bad. No tom foolery on those… just straight forward fajitas. I’ll give this place 3 stars because the beer wasn’t awful, the fajitas were okay, and the service was really good. I most likely would not go back here and may even spitefully not go back because of that damn brisket.

Unfortunately, this place is more style than substance. They have a nice rustic room and full bar. As expected, it was crowded on a Saturday night but we were seated within 10 minutes. The service was v good, and the Scotch eggs and deep fried pickles were good. The problem is, my NY Strip steak was a bad piece of meat. It was like shoe leather — no kidding. For $ 25-ish I was expecting a nice cut of meat, and what I got instead was a Grade C piece of meat with that rare combination of thin AND tough that you can only get from a cheap, lousy steak. Total Bummer. I rate it 2 stars because as the 2-star label suggests, «Meh — I’ve had better». Nice atmosphere, good service on a busy and loud Sat night, but Bad Steaks !! And when«Steakhouse» is in your name you need to provide a better product than I received. Probably won’t return unless its burgers for lunch.

I’m not a beer person, but my boyfriend really enjoyed his. The food here is all great, but on the pricey side. I especially love their beer cheese soup. Also, they close at 10 pm on the weekends… what? I was shocked. Even in a small town, a bar closing at 10 pm on a weekend seems absurd.
