On a business trip to Charleston so I throw the kayak on the roof. After work I swing by to see if I can’t get some gear and some access info and maybe a spot to fish. I showed up 15 minutes after the shop closes and see one of the guys. Rather than blow me off (he is heading out to fish himself) he goes over my map and points out a couple shore spots and a couple good places to launch the kayak and fish.
I come back the next day for a little gear during lunch and another guy is very helpful; suggesting key lures, tackle, and recommending techniques for the spot I told him I’m fishing. He didn’t try to oversell me and was full of useful information.
Really a great place to gear up. Some stuff is pricey, but anything with a simms logo is, but usually you are paying for quality product. Some of the nice shirts and things were very reasonable. I’ll be back when I come back to town.

Very helpful place to go and there are several around Charleston. Their prices tend to be a bit higher than other stores I’ve been to, but they make up for that in quality of service. Just walk in, tell them what kind of fishing you want to do and they will set you up. One thing I really liked, was that they don’t immediately try to sell you the most expensive thing they have. They honestly try to tailor to your needs.
