Really BAD service! 2 waitresses serving the whole restaurant. Be prepared to wait a very long time to get a drink!

I had two types of experiences at Blackfinn. One where I thought this place can be very good, the other where I didn’t like it at all. First Time: Flatbread tasted absolutely great, fries were pretty good, good soda(Soda is always supposed to be good) Second Time Hamburger= Underdone Service= Not great This place has potential, just have to tweak it up a bit.

Just above average at best. Place looks good, but the food items are always the same and run of the mill. You leave there feeling, you have nothing great to say about it. They have a great bar staff and they are friendly. They need a new chef, that thinks and cares about his product. This place could become something awesome with a better chef and kitchen.

Food amd drinks are ok and overpriced. Went with a friend and service was a bit slow. Overall clean dining room and restrooms.

We have been coming to Blackfin for quite some time and I am not really sure what happened. The service the last few times has been really bad. Drinks and food have taken forever. I love the food here, but after the last two visits I am taking this place off my regular list. It’s really unfortunate since it’s so hard to find good places in the suburbs.

My mother’s French Onion soup came with one of those square plastic bread ties floating in it, my brother’s meager portion of reheated meatloaf cost $ 17, and the lettuce on my burger(which I ordered«medium» and was served far past«well»)was brown as cardboard, not to mention we were seated in the furthest possible corner of the restaurant despite having reservations and the place being mostly empty. Could’ve gotten better food/service at Applebees, Friday’s, etc., for a quarter of the price. Will never return to this restaurant.

I give it one star only for my white cran sangria. We are new to the area and I chose this as a surprise dinner for my boyfriends birthday and we would’ve been better off going to Chick fil A down the road. I ordered Queen City chicken and it was far from fit for a queen. The chicken had no flavor, the sweet potato mash tasted like baby food and I didn’t even attempt the asparagus or the mystery«broth» that came with it. My boyfriend ordered a steak that was over priced for the quality of meat he got. His macaroni and cheese was definitely pre made and his mashed potatoes were full of undone potatoes. We both agree we will mark it off our list. I wouldn’t suggest this to anybody.

Nope. We went here over the weekend to have«Breakfast with Santa». Reservations were for 10:30am. Not only were we not seated at 10:30am but we were ONLY seated 25 minutes later because my husband asked if he could have a coffee while we continued to wait. We were directed to a room with a plethora of open tables. Why had we been waiting 20 minutes to be seated you might ask? I have no idea. Once we were seated we were told that fetching beverages would take a sec and to help ourselves to the breakfast buffet. I went up first to get my 1 year old daughter, who was now pretty anxious to eat, some food. I have seen a better assortment of breakfast food at hotels that include a continental breakfast with your room fee. There was a bowl with handful of honeydew pieces left(which I’m happy I got to when I did since the fruit was never replenished), there were some plain scrambled eggs(the cheese eggs were also out and never replenished) some bacon, cold french toast and what I think was an egg quesadilla. I gathered a smattering of options and brought them to my daughter. While the rest of our party got food I asked for silverware for the table but was told«I will do my best, we are out and they are rolling more». Please note the restaurant was half empty. Where had all the silverware gone? Had they sold it to pay for more egg dishes? Impossible. There were plenty of plain eggs as the lone buffet survivor. I didn’t expect a gourmet meal in a breakfast buffet. but maybe throw some sausage out… maybe some more fruit… a couple muffins… Santa was a nice guy. He had candy canes. Which was the highlight of the meal. When creating a special event geared towards children try a little harder to not overbook, undercook and understaff … so as not to make said children wait until they have a meltdown.

The food is fantastic, but unless you sit at the actual bar, you’re going to get really bad service. I’ve been coming to this restaurant since they opened and not once have I had good service while I was sitting at a table. The bartenders are great, friendly, and know their stuff. The others, not so much. The management is generally friendly but one manager(not sure of the name) got unnecessarily snippy with a group of us when we called out the poor service.

Well, this is my 2nd time here. 1st time was on a weeknight with girls. Cocktails and app specials were great. Sat by bar. Today was 2nd time. Came for family dining before movie which is conveniently steps away from restaurant which is nice. Saturday night full house. 35min wait to sit in dining area. Wait wasnt too long compared to other places on a weekend. Waitresses are very friendly and accomodating. A bit loud so if you are looking for a quiet evening with romance, don’t come on weekend. Music which was a great selection of hits, plays loud enough but not crazy. Tvs all around for game watching. Ok food– we had chips and chipotle cheese dip for appetizer. It was okay. Then, fish and chips. Fish was fresh and soft. Batter yummy and served with a coleslaw that really tasted magical beer battered fries SO good. Also had the balboa because of the great reviews. WOW… you guys weren’t lyin! It was sooooo good. Bread is soft and meat tender.. oh and that an jou to dip your sandwich in. Incredible flavor. Will definitely be back for more. 4stars instead of 5 due to prices. Cocktails at $ 9…and overall just a bit up there in price but not unaffordable.

I really wanted to like this restaurant, however the service was not good and the food was just average. Before we dined at Blackfin I checked out the menu on the website. It had many interesting unique items. However upon ordering the bacon wrapped meatloaf it was just OK. We also ordered a burger that was ordered ‘medium’ but was delivered ‘way overdone’; and promising ‘grilled’ fish tacos that were delivered ‘fried’(it was corrected but delivered after most of us were done eating). As to the service, The restaurant was virtually empty on a Sunday at 5 o’clock, so I was so surprised my waitress disappeared for most of our meal. I also found it surprising that with all the food ‘issues’ no manager came by our table. I will not be going back.

BlackFinn is divided into a large bar and dining room. Food is consistently good, however dining room service is not. On a recent visit our waitress took our order and then never returned. Our food was delivered by a server and we needed to request drink refills from whomever happened to be passing by. Also, the location at Randhurst can be tricky for parking, especially during weekends or peak movie times as the movie theater is located next door. Recommended only for watching sporting events, service tends to be better if you are seated at the bar.

Lunch special fish tacos were very good. The server helpfully suggested I could have one with fried fish and one with grilled. The fish was flavorful and flaky, perfectly seasoned. I wanted a bit more of the toppings. Outdoor seating is available and the restaurant is close to a parking garage.

I have been frequenting this establishment since it opened in the beginning, and have seldom had an esperience short of wonderful. The food is excellent for the most part, but like most menus, there can be a dud dish here and there. To play it safe, you can never go wrong with a burger, a flatbread, or the fish and chips. This location also has a couple stellar sandwiches in the«Balboa» and«Cuban». A final note will be that the fries are always crispy in a beer battered sort of texture. The coctail menu is diverse and there are many quality beers on tap. This is ALWAYS a big bonus in my book. So if you are in the area, I strongly recommend you check out The Blackfinn. Cheers, Steve

It took me a few different menu choices before I feel in love with Blackfinn. I highly recommend the fish tacos — by far the best I’ve ever had. The environment at Blackfinn is relaxed and mature. I am 24 and I feel like this is an excellent place to dine in with some girl friends and enjoy the half off wine Wednesdays, date night, or a drink before a movie(there is a movie theater directly across the street) Blackfinn is divided up into two rooms — a bar and a dining room. This allows customers to choose a quieter setting, or a bar setting with tvs. Therefore, Blackfinn is suited for friends, dates, and dinners with the family. The staff is always pleasant, and timely with our food and requests. I highly recommend enjoying Blackfinn, and experience an excellent environment!

Food: 2 stars Drinks: 4 stars Service: 4 stars It was the night of the Stanley Cup finals, my friend got off of work late, and we were looking for somewhere to grab a few beers while we watched the Blackhawks. All the other bars were crowded but this place didn’t look full so we popped in. They had tables in the bar section and so we stayed to watch the game. Service was fast, considering the fact that it was a busy night for the bar. We were able to order our drinks and an appetizer within 5 minutes of sitting. They have a pretty decent beer menu with a ton of ales and craft brews. I was happy. They also have hard cider, so my friend was happy. I went for an Allagash White and my friend went for an Angry Orchard. For something to munch on, we decided on the spinach artichoke dip. It’s not hard to make this dip but Blackfinn somehow never learned. There was very little artichoke flavor. Instead, it tasted like that frozen creamed spinach you can get at the grocery store. The cheese was totally wrong because it was way too stringy. The pita chips were the only saving grace. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be back unless there’s a game I really want to see. The bar had 19 screens showing the game. But I won’t order food again, just drinks. If a place can’t make spinach artichoke dip, I wouldn’t trust it to make anything else.

There are two dining areas here: to the left of the entry is the bar, to the right is the dining room. I’ve sat in both. The bar has a classy sports bar feel to it, with dark wood and many TVs. The dining room is brighter with a lower noise level. I’ve tried a salad and a steak. I felt that my filet was a bit undercooked, but that’s a wise choice on the part of the chef. The diner can always send it back and get it cooked more. Hard to take the char off! The servers here have been friendly and efficient. I just have found the menu so traditional as to be boring. With E & O right next door, I only find myself here when someone else chooses it.

The food here is pretty good. Their menu is not complicated at all — they have a «Lighter Side» and«BlackFinn Specialty». The hostess was nice and seated my family promptly. The kids like the Mac N’ cheese here and I like the chicken here. The kids meal also includes free ice cream too. I ordered the Pan roasted chicken, which were two pan-roasted chicken breasts served with rice pilaf, and steamed broccoli. The chicken was moist and seasoned well, and the rice was cooked nicely — not too crunchy, not too soft. BATHROOMREVIEW: Super duper bright with an ultra moderm looking sink. The stalls have full-length doors so you can poop to your heart’s content, and not risk someone peaking in. Sit or squat? Sit!

We were really impressed with BlackFinn. We did not have a reservation on a Saturday night, but we were seated very quickly. We even got a table outside, and it was a beautiful evening. Service was really outstanding. Earlier in the week, we dined at another restaurant at Randhurst and were disappointed in the experience. This made us see the new Randhurst much more favorably. Their drink menu is large and diverse. They had a great selection beers on tap as well as in bottles. They also had some very good looking mixed drinks. My wife had a Moscow Mule, which I did get to taste, and thought it was wonderful. I had a Dodfish Head 60 minute IPA from the tap. Personally, I prefer the 90 minute, but it was still very good. Dinner — since I had a burger at the other restaurant we went to at Randhurst I chose one here to compare. There was no comparison. This one was large, juicy and well made. I ordered it with a fried egg, lettuce, tomatoes and onion. It was outstanding and so were the fries that came with it. BlackFinn was a great place to visit and one I want to return to with a group later this summer.

$ 5 martinis on friday nights? Sign me up! I’ve been next door to E+O a million times without looking twice or knowing the goodness of BlackFinn. I went on a special cupcakes & cocktails night with some amazing ladies, Taylor M. and Angela P. We bonded over stories of crazy exes while sharing some of their $ 5 martinis. I came late but quickly caught up and had 4 martinis by night end — 2 Blue Raspberry, 1 Apple and 1 Hawaiian. All were good and the usual sugary-ness that is a fruity martini. I’d skip the Hawaiian because it just had too much going on I wasn’t a fan of. The drinks were not very strong which could have been a good thing that night considering I did have four. On this Cupcakes & Cocktails night, the good stuff just kept on coming. We got complimentary cupcakes, flatbreads and chips with an artichoke dip. Holy goodness — what a score. I’m happy to report everything was delicious! I really enjoyed it all. Plus, we each got a gift bag with some goodies inside including a $ 10 gift card. Wowza! We had great service all night, super friendly lady with amazing eyelashes. Really had a lovely night filled with delicious food, drinks and great company.
